Calm Over Chaos

I’m always amazed by the cherry blossom at this time of year. It’s just so delicate and beautiful. This was the inspiration behind my make using the fabulous brand new ‘Calm Over Chaos’ stamp set.

I started by choosing some tranquil blue distress spray stains in ‘Tumbled Glass’ and ‘Salvaged Patina’. These were sprayed all over a white piece of card before some water was used to dilute the colour even further.

Once dried, I stamped the main image onto the card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink and heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder.

Next up, I stamped the cherry blossom branch and the smaller cherry blossom stamps all around the background using Versafine Clair ‘Morning Mist’ grey ink. The blossom was coloured in using a Posca White acrylic paint pen and ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress ink. I left a small space for the sentiment to be added later.

To make the main image stand out I added a ‘moon’ highlight behind the stamped image. This was highlighted with ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress ink and coloured in using a white colouring pencil. The kimono was then coloured in using the same Posca pen and distress ink. ‘Stormy Sky’ distress ink was then brushed around the edge of the card.

To add further dimension to the card I stamped some of the large cherry blossom stamps onto another piece of card using the grey ink and coloured these in with diluted ‘Picked Raspberry’ distress ink. These were then fussy cut out before adding the ‘Serenity’ sentiment from the stamp set using the same black ink as before (that had been mounted on black card). Some of the smaller elements from the stamp set were then stamped onto the background using ‘Stormy Sky’ distress ink and the larger cherry blossoms were added using 3D glue.

Finally, the background was then added to black card and a white card blank. Some wink of stella glitter pen and small water droplet gems were added for interest leaving a soft and delicate card perfect for those moments that just need a greetings card.
