Fearless Tiger Stamp | Pencil Colouring

Hello and happy weekend to you! We hope you can enjoy a little time out and sunshine. Sharon is kicking off this weekend’s inspiration on the blog with an amazing card featuring our FEARLESS TIGER stamp with some beautiful no lines pencil colouring…

Tyger, Tyger, burning bright…

….in the forests of the night.

What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

That poem, ‘The Tyger’ by William Blake, is seared into my memory, having studied his ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’ for my English Literature exams, oh so many, many moons ago! And it rattles around in my brain every time I see a tiger image. Those romantic poets have a lot to answer for because I have a similar relationship with William Wordsworth when I see images of clouds and daffodils (I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud), and John Keats when I see autumnal images (Ode to Autumn).

Anyway, back to tigers…

tiger face handmade card

I had such a great time taking this beautiful Visible Image fearless tiger stamp, and trying some no-line pencil colouring. He is such a majestic image, isn’t he? And he works so well on an inky background for a quick card, but I think the no-line colouring lets you emphasize his soft, ‘furriness’ and his whiskers.

Here’s a brief run through of how I coloured him, and I apologise for the quality of some of these pictures; I seem to have picked up a bit of glare on them.

First, stamp the image in a feint colour of ink on your chosen card/paper. I used black on black because I always intended to over-stamp and clear heat emboss in the last step to give some additional texture. If you want to do the same, be sure to keep your stamp in the same position in your stamp positioner until you have finished colouring.

I wanted to start colouring around the eye area, so I added a little bit of white fur by making some small ‘flicky’ lines around the eye, then adding a white spot in the eye and using both yellow and green on the eye itself.

Once I was happy with the eyes, I added pink to the tip of his nose, and started colouring with yellows and oranges on the nose area. This area needs to be pretty smooth compared to the rest of the face, so go very gently here and gradually build up the colour.

Next I coloured the rest of the face with the ‘flick’ method. If you look closely you will see that as well as the oranges and yellows I’ve added pink into the fur to tie in the nose, and there is a little bit of light brown too. On some of the white parts you will also see a tiny bit of blue as well as grey.

Carry on building up the colours slowly and gently until you are happy with the result.

Then add him back into your stamp positioner and re-stamp in a clear embossing ink, then heat emboss with a clear powder. I think you can just about pick up the shine and texture of the embossing in this picture, especially in the bottom left.

To finish off, mat him onto white card, and then onto more black card. Stamp the sentiment and add that too.

Fearless Tiger Stamp | Handmade Card

Hi there! We hope you are having a nice weekend. Ali is here on the blog today with an amazing handmade card featuring our FEARLESS TIGER stamp with our gorgeous FIBRES stencil.

I’ve been playing with the fab new tiger stamp from Visible Image called ‘Fearless Tiger’. I had a ball making this card – shiny metallic polish, matt black gesso and the stunning, stunning tiger stamp.

fearless tiger stamp | handmade card

Instructions

Cut a piece of heavy stock white card 6″ square, load up a stamping platform with the tiger stamp and stamp the image onto the centre of the card with black versafine ink just once to show where the tiger will be going.

Leave the tiger stamp in place on your stamp platform  for later.

Lightly spritz your stamped card with water and then apply some of the red and orange Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polishes up to the edge of the tiger and over the rest of the card.

Dry your card with your heat gun then wipe it over with an anti static bag.

Put your card back in your stamp platform and re-stamp the tiger image with black versafine until you have a nice solid black image.

Then heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Your card will look a bit like this – probably better than mine if you didn’t paint over his ears 😀

Pour a little black gesso into a scrap foil container

Tape the Visible Image Fibre stencil over the your card and stencil a little black gesso  over the metallic background, allowing the gesso to dry before moving the stencil to a new part of the card as the stencil is slightly smaller than your card.

When the gesso has dried, paint in the tigers face using an orange watercolour pen and a damp brush.

Paint the eyes with green and yellow and re-paint in any white bits using white acrylic paint or a bleed proof white ink.

Pat your anti static bag over the tigers face then return your card to the stamp press.

Use a gold or any other pigment ink to ink up the tiger’s mane, avoiding his face then heat emboss with gold embossing powder.

Use a sponge to apply a little glycerine or versamark ink around the edges of the card and  then heat emboss with gold embossing powder.

Use the remaining ink left on the gilding polish applicators to colour the edges of  a square of white card just over 6 1/2″ square and also scrap of white card for the sentiment.

Attach your tiger card onto black card with a 1/16″ border and then onto your coloured card with approx 1/4″ border.

Then attach onto another black card layer with approx 1/4″ border and finally onto a white 8″ x 8″ white card blank.

Using your stamp platform again, stamp the Fearless sentiment onto the coloured scrap with back versafine ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder, repeat inking and heat embossing a second time so it is really glossy.

Cut out the sentiment, sponge a little black gesso around the edges then attach it to a piece of black card, leaving a border of approx 1/8″ and fix to the bottom right of your card with double sided foam tape.

Finally apply glossy accents to the tiger’s eyes and glue a few sequins on the background.

Here is my finished card

Tiger Stamp | Face Your Fears

Hello! We are resuming our NEW STAMPS inspiration here on the blog… Ericka has created an amazing card with our FEARLESS TIGER stamp and ‘face your fears’ sentiment, beautifully embossed on a vibrant alcohol inks background.

Today I’m playing with the awesome new Visible Image Fearless Tiger. This set is available for pre-order and trust me you’ll want to get your hands on this beautiful tiger.

I love the great detail of this stamp and decided to pair it with an alcohol ink background. I started with Yupo paper and then used a blending tool with a felt applicator. I started with two yellows and two oranges in Dandelion, Sunshine Yellow, Ember, and Valencia. I then added some Gilded Alloy to the applicator and moved it around the Yupo for some gold shine.

I then stamped the Fearless Tiger in my MISTI in Versafine black ink and heat embossed it with Black Glint for more depth.

I took the Alcohol Blending Pen and add some Clover alcohol ink to the Tiger’s eyes.

To complete my card, I added the sentiment and heat embossed it in gold.

Fearless Tiger Stamp Set | Canvas

Hi there! We are very excited to be sharing the very first samples created with our new stamps over the next few days! Jane couldn’t wait to get her hands on our FEARLESS TIGER stamp and has created some incredible inspiration…

Hello, this is a very exciting post as I can reveal my first make with the brand new Visible Image March release!

I decided to make canvas/wall hanging to showcase the gorgeous Fearless Tiger.

tiger stamp | mixed media canvas

There are lots of photos ahead to share my process.

Here we go

I had the idea to have my tiger hiding in the jungle undergrowth so first I wanted to make some jungle foiliage. I drew some leaf shapes on white card and cut them out. I made some distress ink backgrounds and cut out my leaves using the shapes as a template

I then used the Grunge tones to make them more realistic, adding depth and texture

I also added depth by moulding them with my ball ended tool

I stamped my tiger onto an alcohol ink background and a distress ink one, you will see why in a moment

My plan was to have the tiger emerging from the jungle so I cut into the distress ink one leaving the ears and some of the outline behind. I cut into these to make “tabs” which I pulled forwards

I added some ink and the grunge dots again to both the folded back tabs and the background

I stuck the alcohol inked tiger in place and decoupaged his ears so that they stuck through the aperture

It was then time to add the foliage

and finally the sentiment which I matted with black card

Close ups
