Butterfly Effect | Circle Gelli Print

Hello and Happy Friday to you! We are very excited as it is release day for our NEW stamps! Woo! We are so pleased that they are already loved by so many. We have lots of amazing samples to share with you still, and are kicking off release day with a stunning piece of wall art by Lynda, featuring our gorgeous BUTTERFLY EFFECT stamps on a fabulous circle gelli print…

I have had such a lovely time playing with the brand new Summer release from Visible Image this month. They are such fantastic stamps, and a really great size for home decor pieces, so I decided to make some wall art using the Butterfly Effect set and my round Gelli plate for this weeks design team inspiration.

I am not overly well practiced in using the gel plate I must admit  [it is definitely on my ‘must use more’ list!]  so I was unsure how my print would turn out, but that is part of the fun of creating papers with it so I just had to make myself relax and go for it!

My first layer was created by applying paint through the ‘Butterfly Ink’ stencil.

I then took ‘Ripped Fishnet’ stencil and applied paint through that, framing the butterfly.

Once dry, I applied another layer of paint through the ‘Mesh It Up’ stencil.

Again, once dry I added another layer, this time with the ‘Time Tunnel’ stencil.

Then came the scary part- pulling the print [after adding a thin layer of fluid acrylic].

I was SO relieved that the finished print turned out well!

As you can see, the ‘Butterfly Effect’ large stamp fits the stencil perfectly.

I stamped the large and smaller butterflies in Stazon ink on an alcohol ink background and fussy cut once dry.

I wanted to stamp and emboss the background stamps inside the circle, so drew round my Gelli plate onto copy paper and cut to create a mask. I embossed in white to help make the image pop.

I inked a drop shadow around the central image to help add dimension, and mounted it with glue gel. I stuck the smaller butterflies around the edge of the circle, and added the sentiment before mounting onto black card and framing.

This is stunning! The gelli print worked out wonderfully, lots of fabulous texture and the white embossing looks fantastic against it. The butterflies look beautiful and this art work definitely needed to be framed! Thank you Lynda ♡

Design Team Intro | Angelique de Groot

We are really excited to introduce NEW Design Team member…

Angelique de Groot

I’m Angelique, 59 years of age. I’m Dutch, but live in the beautiful Belgian Ardennes (The French speaking part of the country). However, in Spring, me and my man move to the Netherlands, where we manage a small campsite throughout the Summer. Ever since I could hold a pencil I’ve been drawing, colouring and crafting, it keeps me busy in quiet times, happy in sad times and sane in mad times. I’m mainly a card maker and use all kinds of mediums to create. From colouring stamps with markers, pencils and watercolours, to more mixed media style techniques, with inks, stencils, gell plate and more. I have just started exploring the world of journaling.

Angelique is on our INSTA TEAM!

Follow Angelique: @craftsbylique

Angelique’s beautiful cards, wonderful use of inks in her backgrounds, and gorgeous colouring really stood out to us ♡

Angelique stamped the gorgeous heart with Versafine Clair ink onto 300 grs watercolour paper, then used red + orange Brushos with water to create colour bursts. When dry, Angelique brushed red and yellow Harmony inks through our INK SWIRLS stencil creating a wonderful effect in the background. Polychromos pencils were used to colour some of the details in the heart stamp, and a white gel pen was used for highlighting. To add some texture and shimmer Angelique added Glossy accents to some circles, and clear sparkle splashes all over it. The edges were distressed with black ink before matting and layering with black card onto a white 15x15cm white card base.

We love Ali’s striking cards and fabulous backgrounds, and how wonderfully she interprets and co-ordinates our stamps, stencils and sentiments!

I started crafting about 20 years ago. My style is varied, my favourites are bright colours and silhouettes. I have an extensive collection of paper, stamps, inks, paints and sparkly things!

For my latest Visible Image inspiration I’ve been playing with two fabulous stencils to make a couple of cards for my friends. These were fun and easy to make.

Quirky rose stamp | ink swirls stencil | kindness + friendship | handmade cards

To make the DL card:

Take a A4 piece of 300gsm white stamping card, cut it down to 210mm x 196mm and scoring at 98mm.

Trim the left over strip to 84mm x 194mm to make the card topper.

Tape the Visible Image ‘Ink Swirls’ stencil over the bottom 2/3’s of your card strip with masking tape. Use a brush or blending foam to apply the weathered wood distress oxide ink through the stencil, add a little black soot distress oxide in places – avoid the straight edge at the top of the stencil.

Wipe the ink off the stencil, flip it over and move it over the top 1/3. Match up the swirls as best you can and ink up as before. Flick a little water over your inked card, leave for a few seconds and then pickup the drops with paper towel.

Wipe over another piece of white stamping card with an anti static bag. Then stamp the rose from Visible Image’s Random Art of Kindness 6 times using black versafine ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Fussy cut the roses, I cut slightly outside of the embossed lines.

Colour the roses with a base coat of orange ink and then add the red and pink ink.

Use the remaining orange and pink on your applicators to colour a sentiment from the ‘Words of Support’ stencil onto white card with the orange at the top and the pink at the bottom.

Heat emboss with clear embossing powder as before.

Trim the sentiment and mount it onto a scrap of black card with a border of about 1.5mm (1/16″).

Stamp the flower stem 3 times using black versafine ink as above and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Glue your inked piece onto a larger piece of black card with a border of about 3mm (1/8″).

Glue 3 of the roses flat onto the topper using pva glue. Shape the remaining 3 roses using your fingers and use 3d foam to fix them onto your card.

Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the flower heads, then doodle around the outside of your card with a fine black liner pen.

Colour the circles on the stems with a red pen and then cover these with glossy accents.

Attach your card topper to the white DL card blank you made earlier and attach the sentiment using 3d foam to the bottom right hand corner.

Your finished card will look like this 😎

To make the square card:

The process is the same except you don’t need to move the stencil and only 4 roses are needed. I found this card even quicker to make 😀

The measurements for the 6″x 6″ square card are:
card topper – white stamping card 130mm x 130mm
black card matt – 138mm x 138mm

I used a different sentiment and a couple of adhesive gems on this one…

The Forest | New Stencil

Hi! We are excited to preview more new stencils here on the blog today. Heather Mitchell has got her hands on ‘The Forest’ and ‘Time Flies’ to create 2 amazing cards…

Hello everyone…

Lots and lots of new Visible Image stamps sets and stencils out (or coming out) in the next couple of weeks and I’ve been really lucky to have been sent some of each to have a play with.  I’ll be honest, I was slightly over excited when they arrived… such an amazing release and Mark has done it again for #teamawesome.

So today I’m focussing on ‘The Forest’ stencil which is just beautiful, and I have 2 makes to share with you.  Once again, the quality of all the stencils is just amazing… perfect thickness… as I hate it when you spend out for stencils and they turn out to be all whispy and thin, don’t you?

forest scene | card | stamps | stencil

I absolutely love the colours on this card and it was so easy to make.

The back ground is made using Distress Oxide Ink Pads in an Ombre effect using Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord and Picked Raspberry.  I then lightly tapped on some black indian ink for a bit of texture and some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pretty Pink for some gentle sparkle… and  the light really reflects off the sparkle on the finished card.

Overlay the stencil and make another ombre effect using Black Soot, Hickory Smoke and Weathered Wood and ensure the inks are dry.

With the background complete, I used the foreground stamp from the Into the Woods stamp set and added Versafine Clair Glamorous to the bottom and their Warm Breeze to the trees.  I used a stamping platform for this as I wanted a real hit of colour so over the colours a couple of times.  When satisfied, I heat embossed them using WOW!’s amazing Clear Embossing powder.

For final touches, I heat embossed the cute little owl in black and then the sentiment, also from the Into the Woods set, onto black card, trimmed and added using foam tape.

My second make today starts off with a grey smooshed background using Distress Oxide ink pads in Hickory Smoke, Ice Spruce and Weathered Wood.  They’ve also been given the indian ink and Glimmer Mist treatment for extra interest.

crow stencil | forest | scene | card

I’ve done another ombre background on this card too but this time used Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, faded Jeans and Dusty Concord,

I’ve then used Prima’s Graphite Texture Paste (which has a wonderful subtle gritty finish) with  the bird from the new ‘Time Flies’ stencil to create this dominating image over the card.

To finish, I used the little sentiment from the Break Free stamp set.

The fabulous new stencils are available to pre-order from this Friday 3rd July and are released on  17th July… and if you enter the current Facebook group challenge you could bag yourself £100 voucher… and that’s A LOT of stencils! Haha!!

Keep an eye out on all the socials for lots of inspiration.. the Visible Image instagram and Facebook page are full of sneaky peaks and makes.

I’ll be back soon with another new make to share.  thanks for reading!

H xx

Two fantastic cards Heather which showcase our new stencils brilliantly! The texture and sheen are stunning and we are loving that grit paste on the bird! Thank you so much Heather ♡

A Glimmer of Light | Moth Stamp

Hello! We have Lynda Hall on the blog today with an awesome mixed media card featuring the moth stamp from our ‘Glimmer of Light’ set which also contains a very inspiring quote which is so relevant at the moment…

It is my turn to share a little Visible Image inspiration with you, and today I am focusing on the brilliant Glimmer of Light stamp set. After ten weeks of not working due to the Covid pandemic, I am finally back doing a job I love, so I am definitely feeling like the sentiment is appropriate right now!

moth stamp | mixed media card | lightbulb

I started this card by spritzing black and yellow Decoart mister sprays onto mixed media card.

Then I began creating layers using the Meshing Around and Count Me In stencils.

I then placed the light bulb stamps over the yellow patches.

The next stage was so much fun! I went to town over the top with Izink Ice, which added depth to the colours and more gorgeous texture.

I deepened the yellow around the bulbs with a sparkle pen, and then added more dimension with a clear crackle glaze over the top to create a glass effect.

While that dried completely, I stamped, embossed and fussy cut the moths and sentiment ready to adhere.

Here are some close up photos for you.

Visible Image products used:

Wow! Your background looks amazing, so much texture and it is perfect for the moth! Loving the glaze on the lightbulbs and the glow around them! Thank you ♡

Valentine Stamps | Pop Art Cards

Hello! With Valentine’s Day only a few weeks away, Sharon Traynor is here with some fabulous inspiration featuring our gorgeous lips stamps and some romantic sentiments..

valentine cards | Lips stamp | sentiments

Hi there. I was browsing around the internet the other day when I came across a Pop Art image and I was immediately struck by how clean the lines were, how simple the images were and how the colours were bright and what I call ‘happy’.

Well, that little piece of art got me all fired up to make a card and the first image that popped into my mind was those gorgeous, luscious lips by Visible Image. Then I grabbed a couple of their stencils and set to work.

I firstly blended a couple of backgrounds, making sure the centre of each stencil was off centre, slightly below and to the left, so that they looked ‘right’ when the lips image was added. I did stamp the lips image directly onto these panels too, so that the splatters of lipstick were not omitted, because  I wanted to fussy cut the lips.

Then I stamped and heat embossed the lips onto scrap card using distress oxide inks for the first layer of stamping, plus a super-shiny clear gloss embossing powder. I used a stamping platform because I wanted a really fantastic shine, so these were heat embossed 3 times using clear ink for the subsequent stampings. Then I fussy cutting them out.

Just look at that shine!!!!

Next I stamped and heat embossed a couple of sentiments….

…. and drew a speech bubble in pencil around the sentiments before I cut those out too. The pencil lines can easily be erased with an eraser. I edged the speech bubbles with the corresponding distress marker for the colour of the lips.

Then I just added the panels onto card blanks and layered the lips and speech bubbles onto the panels.

There are LOADS of Visible Image images that would work well with this CAS and graphic type of treatment!

Stamps & Stencils Used:

lips stamp | lipstick | dare to be different

love | sentiment stamps | romance | valentines

cosmic stencil | galaxy | lightspeed

strobes stencil | rays | sun beams

Other Supplies:

White card, Distress Ink (tattered rose), Distress Oxide Ink (squeezed lemonade, worn lipstick, candied apple), Distress Marker (worn lipstick, candied apple)Versamark onyx black ink, Versamark clear embossing ink, WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder, blending tools, masking tape, Stamping Platform, pencil, scissors, red card blank.

That’s it from me for now. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Sharon these cards are awesome! The lips look fabulous with the triple embossing! Really striking valentine’s cards. Thank you ♡
