Your Vivid Colours

Hello! We have another dose of fabulous inspiration here on the blog this evening!

Teresa Morgan has a brilliant card to share…

Today’s post shows a different way of using the Stars and Stripes stencil

I chose to just use the stripes, and masked off sections so I could apply a rainbow of Distress Inks through the stencil. I chose the little horses from the Stay Wild set, making them look as if they were leaving trails of colour behind them.

The wonderful sentiment is stamped in black Archival ink as are the horses.

What a fabulous combination of stamps.. love the trails of colour behind the horses! Thank you Teresa ♡

Stamps and Stencils

Hi!

Today we are sharing some of the samples created by Mark on our September Create and Craft TV shows. Some of our awesome NEW stencils were designed with our super cool music stamps in mind, and our NEW family definition stamps are a perfect addition too…

Mark stayed with traditional colours for his first 2 cards. Our brilliant ‘Grungy Union Jack’ stencil doesn’t need much more than some distress ink to create a superb background!

The awesome guitar from the ‘Music Speaks’ set was embossed onto black card using white embossing powder, cut out and adhered to the card using foam pads for depth.

The ‘Father definition’ stamp was masked off to just use part of it, and stamped in Versafine black ink.

Mark’s next card features stamps perfect for those awkward teenage cards…

Having masked his card in two parts, and coloured the left side blue using distress inks, he then flicked some water onto the ink. Mark then blended distress inks through the stripes part of the ‘Stars and Stripes’ stencil in red, on the right side of his card.

Next he used some white texture paste through the stars part of the stencil, over the blue distress ink.

The ‘Teenage Kicks’ stamp was stamped using Versafine black ink, cut out and again adhered to the card using foam pads. The Brother sentiment was masked off and stamped in black, and one of the definitions was then masked off and stamped below.

Mark also created a more ‘girly’ version of this card…

On this card Mark stamped the trainers in pink and added some glitter to the toes!

By adding some dylusions paint to the texture paste, the pink stars add a more feminine feel to the background, against the black distress ink. Mark then used a Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle!

Daughter Definition stamp

The last card has a far grungier feel…

Mark created a dark grungy background using Distress Oxide inks, splattered with water then dried. He then blended Black Soot distress ink through the fantastic ‘Play Guitar’ stencil.

Mark double embossed the awesome guitarist from the ‘Rock Out’ set using silver powder and adhered it to the card using foam pads for dimension.

Super cool cards for teenagers and music lovers of all ages!

Grungy Rock

Hello! We are back with more awesome inspiration this afternoon! Nicky Gilburt has made some ‘seriously grungy’ cards with our NEW stencils…

I’m sharing a card I made with one of my favourite ever Visible Image stamps.. the amazing ‘Rock Out’, and the brand new ‘Stars and Stripes’ stencil which is also up there at the top of my list too!

For this card I stepped away from the bright colours and went for three natural Distress Oxides – Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Iced Spruce.

Firstly I made a pale inky background onto Daler Rowney mixed media paper, just smooshing and picking up bits of ink which I had applied to a glass mat and spritzed. I love the fact that at this point you have a piece of soggy card that really looks like it should go in the bin! Only crafters get it….

I helped this to dry with my heat gun, then taped my stencil over the cardstock. Iced Spruce through the stars, Frayed Burlap through the stripes BUT I pretty much avoided the middle, I sponged down from the top of each stripe and up from the bottom, achieving (I am going to confess, I didn’t realise how good it was going to look, I just thought I’d try it) that bright shine across the whole of the stripes.

I love the illusion that I have used colour to lighten that area, when in fact I used NOTHING!

From that point it was easy and exciting to finish the card. I stamped my rocking guitarist in Versafine Onyx Black, added a couple of stars either side of him and the ‘Rock Out’ words across the stripes in Iced Spruce. A touch of black fine liner to make the grey stars pop and this was complete.

I found some corrugated card that had waited 12 years in my cupboard to be used, and the card was finished!

You might have seen this one on Create and Craft at the weekend, it’s one of my show samples, but I’m sure you will agree, the whole Design Team never ceases to astonish. I LOVE Visible Image shows, Mark and Pauline are incredible with their designs and demonstrations. You can always catch up with the Create and Craft shows for 7 days, but remember that you can order directly from Visible Image or your favourite local or online retailer too, and be quick, those new stencils are going to fly out of the door!!!

Happy crafting!
Nicky

Brilliant card Nicky.. loving the sepia tones for this grungy look! Thank you ♡

Music Stars

Hello! Thanks for visiting our blog today… we’re back (a little later than planned) with an awesome card by Jane Tyrrell featuring stamps which will feature on our Create and Craft TV shows this coming weekend! More details at the bottom of this post. Jane has combined them with one of our brilliant NEW stencils…

Good morning all,
I am here to share the second sample I have made for Visible Image for the Create and Craft TV shows this Friday 8 September at 7pm and Saturday 9 September at 9am.

Visible Image’s brand new stencil range have been designed by Mark Alexander and are made by Tando Creative. They are the best quality and a useful 6X6″ size. At the moment there are 10 cool designs.

For today’s sample I used the stars and stripes stencil, as the shows are also being transmitted to our friends in the USA

We are also restarting the monthly challenge over on our Visible Image Group Facebook group where you have the chance to win a £40 coupon to spend on the website. Our theme for September is “Distressed”. You can interpret this in any way you wish using your Visible Image stamps. I chose to go with using “Distress” inks and Oxides.

You can also enter our “anything goes/show and tell” challenge every month using Visible Image stamps, which runs year round. This has a £25 voucher for the winner! Both challenges’ winners are drawn at random so whether you are a seasoned Visible Image stamper, or just inking up your first purchase, you are in with a chance.

For this sample I inked up one of the brand new “We are Family” stamps…

I chose Son, such an apt description:

This is my own 28 year old darling son personified. I had him in mind when I designed my card. He likes very CAS (clean and simple) cards and also listening to music and going to concerts. He also strums on a guitar in his home on occasions. So I knew which stamps would be perfect for my card. The Rock out! stamp set ..these work brilliantly with male cards. My son gave this design his seal of approval ?

This is what I got up to…
I stamped the son sentiment onto a Kraft card blank and positioned the stars and stripes stencil just above.

I used Salty Ocean and Candied Apple distress oxide inks to ink through.

I also made up some funky rock star elements. I made some stars from white card which I could then use as templates.

I cut out a red, white and blue star using my templates from snippets of card. I decorated them with the fist and large star from the Rock out set and I also used the little stars from the “Feel the Beat” stamp set
I also stamped and embossed a guitar which I coloured with original distress inks.

I then put on my creative hat to come up with this card…

Thanks so much for stopping by today and for the comments that you kindly take the time to leave.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Brilliant card! Love it! Thank you Jane! ♡
