Colours of Capricorn

Hi there!! Thanks for visiting our blog today. We have been catching up with all the latest Design Team inspiration while ‘snowed in’ here in Wales!

Our final post today is a bright and colourful card from Pauline Butcher…

Hello, it’s me again,

it’s still cold..so another crafty day for me !!!

It’s my turn to share something cheerful, using some awesome Visible Image Stamps.

The stamp set I used here is
Zodiac Capricorn

The background was created using Distress Ink re-inkers, although you could do the same with the ink pads too, just add some water, and using a paint brush, drip it down the card.

The Capricorn’s head is on a piece of card that I smooshed through the left over ink, and heat embossed the goat using black embossing powder.

I stamped on the background using Oxide inks.

Thanks for your visit.

Hugs Pauline xxxxxx

Destination: Summer

Hello and Happy Monday to you! Hope your week has started well. We have double inspiration for you every day on the blog this week… woo hoo!

Jane Tyrrell is kicking off the week with 2 amazing projects…

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to design a card showing how the new ‘Written in the Stars’ zodiac stamps work so well with the existing Visible Image stamp range.

I used a very summery palette, although we can still only dream of summer at the moment.

To put you in the mood, how about a couple of summery photos to cheer us up from my holidays’ past

Awww, sand between you toes…what a wonderful thought.
We also regularly see freshwater crabs on Rhodes in the butterfly valley and this gave me the idea for my card….

I starting inking my background with salty ocean and and broken china distress oxide inks, using lots of water on my watercolour card. Once dry I blended on some spiced marmalade oxide ink.

I stamped lots of the fab crabs from the Zodiac Cancer set and inked them using the matching distress ink colours

I used broken china distress ink to add some stencilling to them using the Fibres stencil.

To give their shells some extra texture I added some Ranger clear rock candy crackle.

I used stamps from the Organics set as my seaweed

I stamped and embossed them using frantage..you will see the sparkle more in a later photo.

I also added some more fibres stencilling to create some “waves” in my background

I stamped some of the words from Destination Unknown and some of the fab paper boats which I fussy cut out and added the Cancer birth date details to.

I then put together my crab card…on a great adventure but with their “Destination Unknown”
I thought the crabs could “hold” the sentiments.

Here are a couple of close ups

IRL there is a lot of sparkle on my card, difficult to show in my photos but I think the close ups give you an idea.

and one final shot

I hope I have been able to show you some different ways of combining your Visible Image stamps, and may have also brought a little bit of sunshine to you on a cold winter’s day.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and for the kind comments you take the time to leave me.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Such a clever card Jane! The stamps work brilliantly together and we love how the crabs are holding the words!!

Artistic Pisces

Hi there! We have some fantastic Zodiac inspiration here on the blog today! Over to Jane Tyrrell who has been incredibly creative (as always!) with this project…

Good Evening,
Today I am sharing my Pisces tag…

I made an underwater inky background on my tag using salty ocean and broken china distress inks. I used the Zodiac Pisces stamp set. It is one of the 12 brilliant new stamp sets from the ‘Written in the Stars’ collection…

You will spot that I used another of the new stamps on my tag..

I used the cracked glass stamp from the How Fragile set.

I stamped and embossed it onto heat resist acetate and had my distress inked fishes swimming out from it. I fussy cut my fish which were also inked with distress.

I stamped and cut out 3 of the 5 words which also come with this great set. I linked everything up using the fun star constellations using red Versafine Clair. I die cut and added a snippet of inky mop up card too.

Here are a couple of close ups..

and one last shot…

Have a super week ahead.

Back soon,

Bye for now.
Jane x

Wow!!! How clever to have the fish leaping out through the crack! Love this tag so much..

Zodiac Cancer Stamps

Good Evening!

Well we are all packed and ready for Phoenix! Just a few last things to do tomorrow..
getting SO excited now!!

We have to say a massive thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered our NEW stamps… wow what a response we have had to them ♡

Becca Cruger has an awesome card to share here on the blog today…

Among the newly released beauties at Visible Image is a whole set called “Written In the Stars” which has all of the signs of the zodiac and each of their attributes.

I don’t necessarily follow my stars or anything like that, but every once in awhile I have fun reading my horoscope. I’m a Cancer myself, and when I got my hands on the set, the attributes were pretty spot on “sensitive, caring, intuitive, sentimental, and emotional”.

kuretake_gansai_watercolor_background

Originally I thought about paper piecing my crab and pulled out a bunch of red patterned papers, but as I was pulling out my scraps, I came across this piece I’d made by sopping up the leftover inks on my craft mat after a project. (Waste not, want not.)

Since Cancer is a water element sign, the leftover paper totally spoke to me and I scrapped the scraps.

Continuing with the water theme, I pulled out my Kuretake Gansai watercolors and added some various shades of red, with hints of blue.

technique_tutorial_melted_wax_card_making

I cut down the background, using mostly reds and orange hues. As I was chopping my paper to size, I spotted these old wax sealer things that I’ve never used and had a thought. I used my embossing tool to heat the wax, and pressed it into the background.

I’m definitely going to use this technique again in the future because it resulted in “wet” spots, even though the wax is perfectly dry!

distress_ink_stamping_cards

I used some Weathered Wood Distress Ink and repeatedly stamped the Cancer phrase over and over again.

Some additional stamping, fussy cutting, and blue fibers later and my card was complete!

Head on over to the Visible Image shop to see all the new releases! Thanks for popping by!

Becca

Zodiac Taurus

Hi! We are back with another super stunning card created with our BRAND NEW ‘Written in the Stars’ stamps!

Sharon Traynor got her inky fingers on our ‘Zodiac Taurus’ set…

Hello!

Today it is the turn of a new collection called Written In The Stars..

These are amazing zodiac stamp sets with a fantastic geometric look. I love that each set comes complete with two sizes of the main image and two sizes of the constellations, as well as the name of the zodiac sign, the dates and some incredible words too!  The elements in each of these sets work incredibly well on their own, or mixed with other sets in the collection as well as working with other completely unrelated stamps. Personally, I think the words are going to be SO useful.

As soon as I saw these stamp sets I knew they would look stunning as light up cards, and they do!

So here is the fabulous Taurus stamp as a light up card. Taurus is going to be a great stamp for me as I have a husband, a daughter and a grandson all born under that sign.

I had to take that photograph at an angle to pick up all the silver embossing and dots of sparkle.

The background on this card was created by pouncing distress stains onto wet watercolour paper and whilst drying (when almost dry) spritzing water on to created droplets. The water colour card was then left to completely dry before stamping and heat embossing the large Taurus image, ‘Taurus’ and dates with silver embossing powder.

The points that I wanted lit up like stars in the Taurus image were pierced and I water coloured the inside of the Taurus image with distress stain to make it stand out. Above is the unlit version and below you can see it lit.

The Taurus constellations were heat embossed with white embossing powder and then random dots of stickles were added to give a hint of shimmery shine, representing more stars in the universe.

A circuit was created on another piece of card using copper adhesive tape, a battery and chibitronics lights, making the ‘Taurus’ word on the card the piece to press to trigger the circuit and make it light up. The water coloured card was attached to the circuit card with 3d foam and it was all adhered to a card blank.

Then I heat embossed the words on plain white card and cut them out to add onto the front of the card.

Inside I used the small Taurus symbol with the happy birthday sentiment from the Go To Words set.

These NEW stamps will be available for pre-order from 12th January!

Other Supplies:

Sentiment stamp used inside the card:

Ultra bright white embossing powder, heat gun, Stardust Stickles, copper tape, disc battery, chibitronics lights, foam tape, double-sided tape.

As I am a Gemini who could resist!

For my first sample I had a go at painting a little Galaxy… why not!

D6D76909-B7F6-4009-8ADC-D7D97C4936F2

It’s an 8’x8’ canvas and I’ve used a range of acrylic paint from Amsterdam and Pebeo dyna paints. It’s basically a mix of colours surrounded by dark navy and black and heavily flicked in white. The stamps were heat embossed using sparkling silver wow powder. The images were highlighted with gems and hey presto your own little galaxy!
