Memories + Moments | Special Scrapbook Page

Hi there! We have Jane here on the blog today with a fabulous scrapbook page for her memory journal featuring the gorgeous large flower stamps from our WHERE FLOWERS BLOOM set, SON + DAUGHTER definition stamps, and our fantastic INK SWIRLS stencil…

Hello it’s time to share my latest Visible Image design team project. Today I am sharing a “Moment” I have made for one of my physical journals “Jane’s Journal”. These are art journals which document many  of my life events and I haven’t made one for a long time. In April I celebrated my 60th birthday. I had thought it would be very low key with just my Hb and I going to RHS Wisley Gardens in Surrey. It was at the very beginning of life and places opening  up a little more after the 2nd Lockdown. Little did I know when we arrived at Wisley that not only would my daughter (who I had not seen for over 5 months) appear bearing birthday cupcakes but my son too, and they had been hatching this plan for months. It was just the best and most carefully orchestrated surprise and I was blown away (and yes I did shed a few tears of sheer joy!)

It really was the best of times and I needed to document it in my art forever.

I decided to choose this photo for my Moment which was taken when I first saw my children and we went inside the grounds, my 3 most important people.

Here’s what I got up to.

I added a light spray of distress ink to a sheet of water colour card

I then added some stenciling using the fab Ink Swirls stencil and kitsch flamingo and worn lipstick distress oxide inks.

I added it fairly randomly all over the page.

Next I stamped the son and daughter definitions stamps  into the top right and bottom left of the page.

I made a frame for my photo using alcohol inks and Yupo.

I die cut a rectangle from the Yupo and stuck my photo underneath.

I stamped the gorgeous memories sentiment from the Express Yourself set under where the photo would be.

Then I added some more stamping to the edges of my page and behind the frame using the Where Flowers Bloom set.

I purposely stamped using Versafine Clair ink so that the stencil showed through the stamping. If you don’t like this effect you would need to use Archival or another oil based ink which is more opaque. Or you could use a pure dye based ink like regular distress for the stenciling.

I also stamped and cut out a couple of the smaller flowers from Where Flowers Bloom  using a scrap of card coloured using Brushos.

Then it was time to assemble my page.

with a couple of close ups;

We have not been together with our children like this on a day out since they young and still lived at home. It really was a very special day and it lives on in Jane’s Journal.

Rock Guitar Stamps | Son Card

Hi there! We are back with more awesome inspiration today! Nicole [AKA Stempelfrida] has us rocking into the weekend with a brilliant card featuring our ROCK OUT guitar stamps with our SON DEFINITION sentiment stamp…

In the recent release by Visible Image there is a “Son Definition” which is so beautiful. Today I have combined this with one of the music stamps to pay tribute to the live rock concerts and wonderful musicians, which are so much missed in these times.

The musician I stamped with Versamark and embossed him with a fine black powder.

Then I masked off the top and bottom of the card. At the bottom, the border runs through the leg, creating more dimension and making the guitarist actually appear to be standing or even jumping forward.

In the upper part I applied Distress Ink in ‘spiced marmalade’, and in the lower part I used ‘salvaged patina’ using a thick brush. Often you don’t want to see any stripes and approach this very slowly with colouring little by little. Here on the other hand, I wanted to simulate an incidence of light, the spotlight on the stage, and deliberately applied the color more streaky on top.

On this background I stamped the stars and ink splats stamps with Distress Oxides in the same colors. I also applied water drops so that lighter spots were created.

Then I came to a tricky part that you might not notice at first glance. I wanted the text to appear white in the guitarist area. I used a stamp positioner for this and first embossed the text in the center with white, then covered that area with a mask and embossed over it in black.

Unfortunately, the black embossing powder sinks into the card a bit, so I traced the area in the leg with black and white pens.
