Grungy Rock

Hello! We are back with more awesome inspiration this afternoon! Nicky Gilburt has made some ‘seriously grungy’ cards with our NEW stencils…

I’m sharing a card I made with one of my favourite ever Visible Image stamps.. the amazing ‘Rock Out’, and the brand new ‘Stars and Stripes’ stencil which is also up there at the top of my list too!

For this card I stepped away from the bright colours and went for three natural Distress Oxides – Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Iced Spruce.

Firstly I made a pale inky background onto Daler Rowney mixed media paper, just smooshing and picking up bits of ink which I had applied to a glass mat and spritzed. I love the fact that at this point you have a piece of soggy card that really looks like it should go in the bin! Only crafters get it….

I helped this to dry with my heat gun, then taped my stencil over the cardstock. Iced Spruce through the stars, Frayed Burlap through the stripes BUT I pretty much avoided the middle, I sponged down from the top of each stripe and up from the bottom, achieving (I am going to confess, I didn’t realise how good it was going to look, I just thought I’d try it) that bright shine across the whole of the stripes.

I love the illusion that I have used colour to lighten that area, when in fact I used NOTHING!

From that point it was easy and exciting to finish the card. I stamped my rocking guitarist in Versafine Onyx Black, added a couple of stars either side of him and the ‘Rock Out’ words across the stripes in Iced Spruce. A touch of black fine liner to make the grey stars pop and this was complete.

I found some corrugated card that had waited 12 years in my cupboard to be used, and the card was finished!

You might have seen this one on Create and Craft at the weekend, it’s one of my show samples, but I’m sure you will agree, the whole Design Team never ceases to astonish. I LOVE Visible Image shows, Mark and Pauline are incredible with their designs and demonstrations. You can always catch up with the Create and Craft shows for 7 days, but remember that you can order directly from Visible Image or your favourite local or online retailer too, and be quick, those new stencils are going to fly out of the door!!!

Happy crafting!
Nicky

Rock Out!

Hello! We are back with more inspiration for our shows on Create and Craft TV this weekend! Elina has teamed up our rocker with one of our NEW stencils…

Hi!
Have you already seen the new stencils by Visible Image? I love working with stencils, and seeing this addition to their stamp collection was so exciting!

I used the ‘Strobes’ stencil for the background of this rock themed tag:

I started the project with inking the background with yellow and orange Distress inks, and stamping and heat embossing the main image on the tag.

I placed the stencil on the tag, and stencilled clear VersaMark embossing ink on the tag, dabbing the ink around the main image. Then I heat embossed the stencil pattern with clear embossing ink.

Clear embossing ink acted as a resisting layer on the yellow ink, so when adding a darker ink color on the tag the heat-embossed areas remained yellow. This is such a fun and easy technique to work with, and I think the grungy background matches well with the rock star image 🙂

Wishing you a wonderful week. Rock Out!

Rock Out @ Visible Image

Good Morning! Today we have some fantastic inspiration for you here on the blog!

First up today is Teresa with an awesome card for anyone who loves a bit of rock…

Hello and welcome to another inspirational post from me for Visible Image stamps. Let’s shake off the winter blues and get funky with some bright colours…

Visible Image stamps - Rock Out - Guitarist stamp - Ink splats - Teresa Morgan

I stamped the Ink Splats randomly around the edge of my base layer using some gorgeous Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed).

The guitarist is stamped and embossed in Fluorescent Blue WOW powder over a background created with shaving foam and Dylusions spray inks.

I embossed the sentiment in white then matted onto an offcut of ‘shaving foam’ card to finish.

I hope that I have brightened your day with my card – thanks for looking, please come back again next week for more fun!!

ROCK OUT – Visible Image stamps

Good Afternoon! We are back with our 3rd inspirational post today… wowza! We hope you have been suitably inspired  ❤

Our final post for today comes from Pauline Butcher who, as always, is injecting some colour into Friday!!!

Helloooo,

I hope you are all well, just a quickie today, a card I made for one of my recent workshops, I do love passing on techniques.

The unique stamps I’ve used, are designed and made by hand,
by Mark and Helen at Visible Imagethey both work very hard, and are very passionate about their company and their fabulous stamps.

2015-10-29-Visible-Image-stamps- You Rock - Pauline Butcher

I used Brusho’s for the background, along with spray starch and cling film, such a cool vibrant outcome!
I stamped the sentiment with Versamark, mixing 2 colours of sparkle Embossing powder, before heating to set.

The Image is made using Angelina Fibres, placed on top of the stamp which has Versamark on, then ironed, such a fab technique, and finally fussy cut.

If you are going to the NEC next week, do pop along to the Visible Image Stand, B09 where you meet Helen and Mark, see some of the stunning stamps available, also see loads of inspirational DT work, and you will also see me, I am doing ‘Make & Takes’, but get in early to book your place as they are limited.

CAS cards with Visible Image stamps

Hi There! Thanks for popping to see us here on the Visible Image stamps blog today 🙂

If you missed any of our recent posts you will find them all HERE

Lisa Nygards is here with some amazing inspiration for you…

Trying some real CAS-cards today. CAS stands for Clean And Simple, like less is more.

I’ve used the stamps from Rock Out on the brown card. I stamped the image with a brown inkpad on a kraft paper and chalked the edges. Super easy.

For the next one I’ve used These are the moments and one of the circles from the Universal set.

I found a bunch small rainbow inkpads that still worked and used them for the circles. Then I just stamped the sentiment in black.

On to my project for the day!!

Visible Image stamps - Rock Our - Grungy Silhouette Guitarist - Teresa Morgan

To create the background I stamped the Grunge Check with Versamark Ink and embossed with WOW powders’ Dull Matt Clear embossing powder. I then used Dylusions ink sprays and Distress Inks to add colour to the card, wiping any excess off the embossing powder. Once dry I used Ranger Sticky Embossing powder and silver blue foil to stamp the words across the top and bottom of the card front. Finally I stamped the guitarist and the words in the centre and embossed with black embossing powder.

Steampunk and Rock – Visible Image stamps

Hello 🙂 We are back with our second post today! So much inspiration!

Over to the amazing Lisa Nygards…

Welcome Wednesday.

For my first card I’ve been playing and mixing the words from Alice set with Edgar from Visible Image. For the second one I’ve rediscover some foil, and just know I had some sticky embossing powder so I digged through my boxes and found it. So, everything on the card is covered with foil! You’ll find the set Rock Out here, and the circles are from the Universal set.

I stamped the rocker and words with Versa Mark ink, covered him with ”sticky embossing powerder” (there is several names on that product that acts the same, it becomes like a glue when you’ve melted it). Right after the powder melted I put on the sheet of foil. Then I just rubbed it easily with my nails like you do when you use rub-ons. You can probably use a bone folder or something too, just be gentle. You can see when the foil sticks and then you just pull it off. The line around is drawn by hand with a 2-way-glue pen. Let it ”dry” and then add the foil. I had a bigger 2-way glue pen, and I added that direct to my circle stamps and stamped with the glue! Waited until it was ”dry” and then added the foil once again. So easy and so fun! The golden circles are die cutted foam tape that I’ve added gold foil to.

Rock Out – Visible Image stamps

Hi There! Hope you’re having a good Saturday 🙂

Today Amber is here with more new stamps inspiration…

Hey guys!  Visible Image has a TON of new stamps!  On today’s card I used Rock Out, and Universal.  I started by stamping the circles in red and yellow.  Next I stamped my rocker guy and heat embossed him with clear embossing powder.  I drew a thin black border, and adhered my card front to a black card base.  I stamped the sentiment in black, and again in yellow to add dimension.  I adhered the sentiment strip to the card with foam adhesive.
