Be Happy – Visible Image

Hi there! Teresa is here with another fantastic project using our MDF Monoliths and stamps…

I have another monolith to share today – they are such a versatile MDF substrate. If you haven’t tried them yet, then you really should!!

Once again I made a gelli print with acrylic paints to use as my background – I love the weathered effect I got by adding a layer of white over the original paint colours.

I have used the outer ring of the ripple stamp to create frames. I stamped and embossed the whole design onto black card then carefully cut out the largest rings to make my frames.

I stamped the words directly onto the background and embossed with gold embossing powder. I added some shadows with a black fineliner pen.

The girl is stamped directly onto the background, and again embossed with gold embossing powder. I then stamped and embossed her  in black onto heat resistant acetate and cut out. This layer is glued over the gold figure, slightly offset to show a gold edge.

The back of the monolith is simple. I just added some embossed ripples randomly over the black paint.

So many people have commented on various projects I have created with these ripple stamps, saying how much they love them!! They really are a versatile set to have in your collection.

Never A Dull Moment @ Visible Image

It’s Corrie Herriman’s turn to brighten the day with her latest project here on the Visible Image blog…

Hello everyone,

For my DT post for Visible Image, I have decorated one of the brand new Free Standing Monoliths with one of the brand new stamp sets. Oh, and I have used a few stamps or an older set too. The monoliths are a super product and such fun to decorate.

This is the front…

And here is the back…

I started with painting the monolith with gesso. I applied two coats. Next I painted the front and back with Dina Wakley acrylic paints. I used my fingers for the front and for the little stand and a brush for the back. With a polka dot stencil I added some dots with the same colours on the front and with white paint on the front and the back. Next I used a script stamp and grey Archival ink to add some interest. I also stamped a swirl on the back using pink acrylic paint. This works really well, just make sure you wash your stamps straight away so the paint doesn’t dry on it.

I had already stamped the girl on some tissue paper and after I cut her out I adhered her to the front with gel medium. I went around the image with a white gel pen to make her stand out a little more. Next I stamped the sentiment with black Archival ink directly on the front and added some white dots to the word sparkle.

I also added the sentiment to the back but used VersaMark and white embossing powder. Lastly I drew a few lines around all the elements and coloured the edges with a black Big Brush Marker and that was that !
