Special Moments

Hello! Not long to go now until we close for the Christmas holidays for some much needed rest and lovely family time!

We have some wonderfully magical inspiration here on the blog for you today from Jane Tyrrell…

Today is my last design team inspiration piece for the year for Visible Image. The next time I am back with some Visible Image inspiration will be in January when we will be starting to showcase their totally awesome new stamps!

For today I thought that I would weave a little Christmas magic and share a final post of our wonderful Disneyland Paris trip with Daisy. This is the second art journal “Moment” I made to remember this magical holiday.

For this art journal Moment I chose to capture the memories of the Princess lunch we enjoyed…

We were visited by the gorgeous Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Belle..

Daisy was totally entranced and honestly believed we were in the company of the real deal. The princesses were so professional and treated our darling sweetheart like a real princess. They really took the time to talk to her, sign her autograph book, pose for photos and admire the Princess Anna dress she was wearing.

I decided to use the photo of Daisy with Cinderella for my focal for my Moment as think it shows the the pure joy on our little sweetheart’s face. I fussy cut it out as I wanted it to become part of the background

I added some infusions and distress oxide ink to my mixed media card to start to create a magical background. Salty Ocean is a great Cinderella colour, perhaps I might rename mine Cinderella Blue!

I added some gold ink through the Strobes stencil

to create some star bursts

I stamped and gold embossed the clock swirl from the Ahead of our Time stamp set several times

as a reminder of that moment in time with the Princesses.

I also stamped stars from Universal

to add a little more magic

and also some celebratory bubbles using those from  the Dare to Swim stamp set

The 2 quotes I used were

‘Make a Wish’ from Own it!

So here is my finished Moment..

I hope that when Daisy is older she can look back and remember the day she met her real Princesses and remember the Moments I have stored for her in Jane’s Journal. You can see just how versatile Visible Image stamps and stencils are for everything, including art journalling and mixed media work. We made a wish and made memories which  really are,

“special moments that tell our story”

I have finished off  the last of my last Christmas makes. My crackers for Christmas 2017 are ready for the table and I will be back to share them very soon over on my blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking the time to leave your kind comments, especially at this very busy time of the year. I hope that you have nearly finished all your Christmas preps too.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Butterfly Wish

Hi there! We are really excited to share the very first project by Lynn Good here on the blog this evening..

Evening everyone,  I am super excited (and nervous!).. Today is the day that I reveal my first project for the design team of Visible Image.  Never did I imagine I would get onto such an awesome team!

The month of November is all about tags so I have created the following tag:

I have started with a pre-made tag that I have had in my stash for a very long time.  I covered it with book and music paper and then a coat of gesso and a few areas of White Crackle Paste.  I then stamped the butterfly from the set Own Kind of Beautiful. As I wanted the stamp to be in the background, I applied another coat of gesso on top.

I have then applied colour to the tag using Distress Oxide Inks – Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber. While I had the inks on my mat I also dyed some ribbon for the top of the tag.

While I was waiting for the paint to dry I stamped out six butterflies using the Distress Oxides. Three of these I applied dimensional magic on the top which would become my top butterflies.

I have then sewn around the edge of the tag in straight stitch and in random areas over the top of the straight stitch with a zig zag.  I have left the ends of the cottons a little long to add texture.  I then stamped the sentiment using the Own It stamp

It was now time to put the card together.  I have layered the butterflies, putting some cotton in between and stamped some random flowers using the smallest flower in the Create It set.

I added some bling and the ribbon at the top for the final touches

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and until next time..
Happy Crafting 🙂

This is such a beautiful tag.. love all those gorgeous layers, and the butterflies look fabulous!
Thank you Lynn ♡

Close Your Eyes…

Hi! Thank you for visiting our blog today. We have been catching up with all the Design Team inspiration created over the past few weeks with our NEW stamps. If you have missed any of our posts you will find them HERE!

Jane Tyrrell has a stunning card to share with you! Over to Jane…

Wow did you see Visible Image on the Create and Craft show? How am-az-ing it was!! The Face It stamp set sold out in 26 minutes!! And the Curious Cat set within the first half hour. All but a handful of stamps sold out within that hour. Mark’s demos were fabulous and it was such fun spotting all 5 of my cards on the show together with the other awesome samples my fellow Design Team members had created.

This is my first official Design Team post for Visible Image!

I have already shared one of the 5 sample cards I made, Billy’s Fence, last week. If you missed that post you can see it here. You all saw that my sweet Billy Cat was the inspiration for all my cat cards… you all loved seeing his photos so here’s another one ;0)

At the moment I am having to craft in the kitchen as it’s far too cold in my garden studio. Billy sits next to me at the breakfast bar… here he is keeping check on what I’m doing.

Sooo back to my design team card for today. It is the 2nd sample I made for the Create and Craft TV show.

This amazing set is called Face it!

I also used 2 sets of words from the sentiment set, called Own It! which works perfectly with Face It…and of course just about any other stamp you own. This set will also be perfect for my art journal moments.

I made 2 Face it cards, I’ll share the second one soon.. if you saw the show it’s the very retro rainbow striped card. I decided to make an easel card as it’s been so long since I have made one and they are always fun to do, if a little fiddly. The cards I make that sell in Dotty’s Tearooms need to be flat and not too thick for posting, so this was an great opportunity to do something different.

I had a brain storm with my sketch/ideas book (yes I do keep one as I have flashes of inspiration at all sorts of times… often when I wake up and if I don’t write them down straight away I forget them!) for a few days to consult my “inner muse” ? and decided to use both the eyes open and closed stamps…. my idea was that the face was “closing her eyes” and “making a wish”. I wanted the wish inside to be quite dream like. I’m afraid I took only a couple of WIP photos… I got so carried away creating and my messy play is not conducive to keep stopping and taking photos. This is what I got up to…

I stamped and embossed both eyes open and eyes shut onto my card. I masked off the open eyes and both set of lips.

For the front of the easel I used Distress inks and blended a background. I added a little bit of stencilling.
I then added some Sparkle Medium through a heart stencil for some glittery texture.

I changed my mind re the sentiment, see the photo below. I decided to cut up the words on snippets of cards and then mount them on a snippet of black card.

I coloured the lips and added Glossy Accents for dimension and left them to dry.

For the inside I masked as before and used a mix of Infusions and distress inks and also added some more Sparkle Medium, this time using a star stencil, my idea was that she was making wish…(stars) hmm are you still with me ?

Then I put everything together.

Here is my easel card…which I saw as the show opened on TV…. great fun to see it there.
Below are my photos… it’s really hard to show up how glittery it is in real life but here goes…

Here is the front close up

the inside

The “wish” as seen from the side…

I used these 2 sets of sentiments so that when the easel is stood up and the front slotted into place it reads “Close your eyes make a wish”

and here is a collage

Thanks so much for stopping by today, for your ongoing support of my creative journey, and for the kind comments you take the time to leave me on my blog. I really appreciate them.

Have a lovely week.
Bye for now,
Jane x
