Live Life Now | Butterfly Stamps | Stencils

Hello there! We have Lisa Taggart here on the blog today with 2 stunning cards featuring the inky butterfly stamp from our ‘Live Life Now’ set with 2 of our butterfly stencils on a gorgeous background…

For today’s project I’ve made a duo of cards using both stencils and stamps from Visible Image including some of my personal favourites. I’ve also had a little fun using one of the new large rectangle gel press shapes from Ranger.

live life now | card | butterfly | stamp | stencil

I used the following stamps and stencils:

Live Life Now

inky butterfly | stamp | grunge

Butterfly Ink stencil

inky butterfly | stencil

Count Me In Stencil

numbers | stencil | jumbled

Entwined Butterflies Stencil

Entwined Butterflies | Stencil

‘The Ripple Effect’ background stamp set was also used but I’ve since learned that it may be retired. It’s never too late to bring it back Mark! Hopefully many of you will already have this old favourite but if not any of the other background stamp sets would work.

The steps:

To create the background I began by brayering lilac pigment ink on to the Gel press plate. On top of this I lightly sprinkled different colours of brusho powders pre mixed with water using a fan brush. I then pulled a print on to white card.

To enhance this a little further I used the entwined butterflies and count me in stencils along with iridescent gold acrylic paint to create subtle interest on top. The effects of this can be seen on the final project depending on the angle of the light.

I then used the large butterfly stencil, the background stamp set, ‘Live life now’ set and coloured ink to build up the layers.

I divided the print into two before adding the final stamped layer using black ink. I also added gold splatters and the sentiment.

Bye for now and I hope your year is a good one!

Own Kind of Beautiful

Hi there! We are back with some gorgeous inspiration from Heather today…

Hello, Hello Everyone…

I’m back again sharing not just one but three makes I made for the Visible Image Design Team!

I had a Gelli plate for my birthday last year but I’ve not really spent much time playing with it. After seeing some gorgeous makes on Facebook, I felt inspired to dig it out and see what I could come up with.  Have you ever Gelli-plated?!  Just gather your acrylics in your chosen colours and a multitude of mark making tools.  In the past I’ve used bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard and anything I can get my hands on but for this make I used elements of the following stamp sets:

Own Kind of Beautiful

Ink Splats

Live in the Moment

Scripted Streets

The first ‘pull’ has the majority of the colour and images

The 2nd print, or ghost print, is fainter and has much more white space

Once the prints have dried, you can select areas to use for making your cards.  The first print, I cut an area 8×8″ and matted it onto black card stock.

After heat embossing the three butterfly silhouettes in black, I added a hint of sparkle using Ink Splats to add areas of silver and to highlight the main sentiment, which I embossed over the coffee stain stamp.

To add extra dimension to the project, I heat embossed the butterfly detail in copper onto Vellum, which is such a lovey, soft paper to use.  Once fussy cut, I adhered them to their silhouette with their wings slightly aloft.

I love the contrast between the background and the softness of the Butterflies

I almost prefer the ‘ghost’ print as I’m not good at putting white space into my makes.

Fabulous textures on the ‘ghost’ print

I love the delicate wings on the dragon fly from the Live in the Moment set and his wings look incredible over the background splatter from Somewhere in Time.

The second card also used the background splatter from Somewhere in Time,
but this time has the fabulous eye from Where Dreams Take You.

The silver embossed circles are from the Live in the Moment stamp set

I’m rather chuffed with these makes and I definitely want to explore what my Gelli Plate can do as the textures and layers you can create are very much my style.  Why not hop on over to the Blog homepage to see what everyone on the DT has been making lately!

That’s all from me… have a great week and I’ll see you soon.

Imperfect Butterfly

Good Evening and Happy Friday to  you!

Wow what a busy and very exciting week we have had… Mark has been creating some incredible new stamps for release early in 2018! Cannot wait to show you!!!

Meantime, Pauline Butcher is here with some gorgeous inspiration for you today…

Hello there,
Here I am again with another ‘Visible Image’ Fabulous Friday project.

This one is very easy to achieve, and I’ve used this technique at some of my recent Inky Workshops.

It would work with quite a few of the fantastic Visible Image silhouette stamps, but I chose to use the beautiful butterfly out of the Live Life Now set:

and the sentiment is from the Imperfection is Beauty set:

The card stock I used is Watercolour card, and I heat embossed the large butterflies using Wow Bright White embossing powder.  I then sprinkled some Brushos onto the card and spritzed with water, adding more colour and more water to get the effect I wanted, I then left this to dry naturally.

Once dry, I added the smaller butterflies using a Distress Ink, then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using Ebony embossing powder from Wow.

Thanks for visiting,
Pauline xxxxx

Such a fabulous background and our butterfly looks stunning in white against all that colour! Thank you Pauline ♡

Welcoming Eileen Godwin!

Hello! As you may have guessed from the title of this blog post, we have some very exciting news to share!

The incredibly talented Eileen Godwin has joined our Design Team!!!

Lots of you may already follow Eileen’s blog… she’s such an inspiration!

Hello. I’m Eileen Godwin and have been happily crafting since 2004. After trying all sorts of crafty products I’ve found that Stamps and Inks are ‘my thing’ ! I retired at sixty, in 2008 , after a full time career as a Pharmacy Manager in Retail Pharmacy . It was a stressful job but now I can craft all day ! I live in a small village near Rochester, Kent, with my husband Ken and we share our home with two small doggies whom we adore and four ferrets! When we go on holiday they ALL come with us ‘cos ”We are family!” I have a Blog and run Craft Workshops in my local Village Hall.

It was raining hard here in North Kent yesterday, so I was forced to remain at my Craft Desk all day!

As I’ve just joined the Design Team here at Visible Image it was a super excuse to play!

The beautiful Butterfly from the ‘Live life Now’ set, and one of the stamps from the ‘Visometry’ set as a background feature.

It’s been a super day!

A few lines with a black ink pen and a ruler plus some sequins and white dots.
Job done!

Back soon.

Live Life Now

As promised we are back with more fantastic inspiration here on the blog today! Teresa Morgan made an amazing project which we proudly showed off on our Create and Craft TV shows recently. Here’s Teresa to tell you more…

I have another mixed media project to share with you all again this week using the fabulous ‘Live Life Now’ set of stamps from Visible Image. I used my stamps to decorate a set of ATBs (artist trading blocks) from Calico Craft Parts.

I was inspired to create an Oriental colour scheme and used Dylusions Ink Sprays to colour some white cardstock. I paired Bubblegum Pink with Cherry Pie, and Polished Jade with Vibrant Turquoise. Once dry, a quick spritz of gold mica spray added some shimmer. I die cut the circles then started to stamp and emboss with black and gold.

I edged all the cubes with gold embossing powder to continue the theme, and embossed butterflies on to the top of each cube.

Live Life

Hi there! Wow summer is well and truly here.. we don’t often have such high temperatures here in Wales but it’s been scorching the last few days! We actually took some ‘time out’ over the weekend which made a nice change.

We are kicking off this week’s inspiration with a fabulous project by Veerle Moreels…

I love to pimp up objects and when finding this little wooden tool box I immediately knew what I wanted to do.  Sand off the text that was on it, give it a new coat of white paint and stamp it with Visible Image stamps ^.^

The original text was to big to put on the front but leaving the ‘now’ off still gives you a beautiful reminder.

Love this Veerle.. what a great little box! Thank you for your fabulous inspiration ♡

Live Life Now

Hi there! We have some gorgeous new inspiration to share with you today here on the blog.

Here’s Nicky Gilburt with all the details…

Hello, and happy weekend! For my Visible Image blog post today I thought I would revisit a favourite of mine, but with a new twist… This Live Life Now set has the most enchanting inky butterfly, and it also now has a cluster of tiny ones to compliment the design. So I set myself a challenge of making them work together – hardly a challenge really – they were made for each other!

I wanted to do a simple piece of work this time, or at least, one that looked simple! It is sometimes hard for me to keep a light touch. Here on the Design Team, we all have our own styles, and we embrace our differences, and together showcase a huge range of styles of work. But all of us seek to learn, to add new twists, and to sometimes take ourselves out of our comfort zones. My fear is….white space. Seriously! Where others can make clean and simple cards, with delicate brushstrokes or touches, I seek out colour, depth, vibrancy. I LOVE pastels and pale but I need a stop sign in my head if I am to achieve the kind of results I desire without laying the colour down too thick!

So I tried! With the help of:

Visible Image Live Life Now stamps

  • Tim Holtz Distress Crayons Set 5 (Pastels)
  • a delicate diamond patterned stencil
  • Nuvo Clear Mark ink pad
  • Silver glitter embossing powder
  • Broken China Distress Oxide
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Baby wipes
  • a water spritzer
  • Mixed Media cardstock

To make my background I lightly spritzed the card and scribbled bursts of pastel colour around, but I didn’t go right up to the edge. I then laid the stencil over and, with a baby wipe, wiped all the colour off. This left the lovely soft harlequin pattern, which I then left to dry.

Once dry, I stamped my feature butterfly in clear embossing ink and added silver glitter powder. I did the same for the tiny butterflies and heat set everything.

For the sentiment, I stamped in Distress Oxide, but as it looked a bit damp, I sealed it with clear embossing powder, a great technique for keeping your inking where you want it to be! It also adds a beautiful glossy sheen to your work.

To finish, I matted and layered the piece onto a top folding A5 card. I don’t often ‘go big’ with Visible Image pieces, but I think that in order to show the space, and imply movement, you have to allow for space. And that is how the white on this card managed to remain white!

Happy crafting!

Ooooh loving this card! How gorgeous the gold looks against that fabulous background ♡ Thanks Nicky!

Inky Notecards – Visible Image Stamps

Hi there! Thank you for coming to visit our blog today.

HUGE apologies for neglecting our blog for a few weeks! July was such a busy month.. so many orders to make, and then we escaped for a week away in beautiful Ibiza…

Santa Eulalia July 2016

We had a wonderful time and a much needed rest!

We have so many amazing Design Team projects to share with you, so we will be catching up with lots of posts every day for the foreseeable future, as we don’t want to miss out on any of them!

First up, here’s Kim Johnny with some fantastic inky inspiration…

It’s my turn to share some creative Visible Image playtime. The kids are off from school and the time ran away from me a teeny bit. So, I wanted to make something simple and bright.

Hope you like them!

Using some of my most favorite stamps and Inktense Color Blocks, I made some clean and simple notecards.

I used the Flower INKognito and Butterfly INKognito Visible Image stamps.

Visible Image stamps - Inky butterfly - flower stamps - Kim Johnny

I applied the color block directly onto the stamps in various scribbles.

Misted the stamp with water, Inktense color blocks activate with water and
when dry are very stable and permanent.

The images are stamped onto watercolor paper I cut to size before stamping.

Stamp away.. I could easily do tons of these and not get bored!

Each one even using the same colors comes out unique.

Thanks for looking and hope you can make a bit of time to play!

Altered Chocolate Box – Visible Image stamps

Hello! We are back with more fabulous inspiration for you!

Over to our marvellous Kim Bacon…

Is it too late to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR?

No, of course it isn’t!

I hope that you all made it happily into 2016?

As you may have noticed there have been some additions to the Visible Image design team following a DT Call late last year. Poor Helen and Mark had a really tough time selecting the successful candidates, the submissions were phenomenal.

2016 will see even more fabulous new stamps and stuff (yes, ‘stuff’, but I am not allowed to expand on that just yet) coming from Visible Image. You are going to have to watch this space. Top tip: head over to the Facebook group and you will hear all the latest news as it happens.
Right, on to my first project for 2016. I am known for my hoarding of useful bits and pieces and I have used an empty chocolate box tray for my piece today.

Naturally, I forgot to take a ‘before’ shot.

2016-01-11 Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly stamp - imperfection is beauty sentiment - Kim Bacon

I started by covering the whole thing with a layer of tissue paper just to block out the dark printing on the original box. I used a 50:50 mix of water and PVA glue.

Next I coloured some more tissue paper with Brusho paints in shades of blue, teal and lime. When all the pieces were dry I smothered them with more of the glue/water mix and pasted them onto the box. I deliberately made wrinkles and folds to add interest.

I waited for this to dry completely and then used a PVA glue with a mica content as a top coat. I have had this glue for years, no really, years and I am not sure where I got it from. I suppose you could use mica powder or a mica mister to add the sheen. Experiment! That is what it is all about.

Just to add even more shine, I applied some silver gilding ax very carefully to the raised folds and wrinkles around the frame.

Using black embossing powder I then stamped the INKognito butterfly onto a piece of heat resistant acetate the was cut to fir exactly into the frame. I also stamped the sentiment in black and a normal butterfly with a teal sparkle embossing powder onto more pieces of acetate.

2016-01-11 Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly stamp - imperfection is beauty sentiment - Kim Bacon 2

The butterfly was cut out and stuck over the black one using a clear silicone gel. The sentiment was stuck along the bottom of the frame attached to the sides.

This was a long project as there was a lot of drying time but sometimes it is nice to do something that isn’t instant.

Visible Image Stamps – Create and Craft TV Demo Cards

Good Morning and Happy Saturday to you!

Today we are sharing Pauline’s amazing demo cards from our Create and Craft TV show last Saturday.. what an amazing show it was! Mark and Pauline managed to get 5 demos in between them which was awesome..that’s down to some fantastic prepping!

The first multibuy sold out in just half an hour and the second before the show ended! Thank you so much to everyone who watched the show, and who bought the stamps 🙂

Here’s Pauline with more details of how she created her stunning cards…

Hi there my lovely friends,

As you probably know, Visible Image Stamps had a show on Create & Craft TV last Saturday, between the Awesome Mr Mark Alexander and myself, we managed to demo five cards, mine were very quick, so I thought I’d run through them again in a bit more detail…
Card One

Visible Image stamps - Feather - Angels Are Near - Pauline Butcher

The first demo was using the stamp set… Angels are Near.

For the background, I took a piece of white Centura Pearl card, and using 3 Distress ink colours, I blended them, spritzed it with water, and blotted with kitchen towel.

Using the feather stamp covered in Versamark, I stamped in the middle, then heat embossed using white detail powder. Using the feather again, but only the splatty end of it, and a gold ink pad, I stamped around the edges of the inked background, I then applied gold gilding wax with my finger around the four edges. mat andd layered it onto a card blank.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using a gold sparkle EP, onto a small piece of card, added gilding wax to the edges, and mat and layered it onto the card

Visible Image stamps - Feather stamp - Pauline Butcher
The feather was stamped again onto a piece of heat proof acetate, with versamark, heat embossed using the gold sparkle EP again, and fussy cut, this was applied to the card using 3D glue.
Card Two
Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly - Live Life Now - Pauline Butcher

The stamp set is called Butterfly Inkognito Set.
I stamped both the butterfly and the sentiment on a white piece of card, using a Versamark pad, and heat embossed with Clear powder, when it had cooled, I blended over the stamping, using 3 colours of Distress ink, and like magic the image and sentiment appear, I then spritzed with water and dried.

Using a tacky glue on my index finger I went around the edges of the card, then sprinkled glitter on it to give a sparkly edge.

Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly stamp - Pauline Butcher.1

I stamped the butterfly using versamark, onto heat proof acetate, and heat embossed using a white detail powder, I folded the acetate so’s that the butterfly’s wings were together, and cut some rounded wings, taking off all the ink splats, this was attached to the card leaving the wings free to flutter, I added glitter glue for that extra sparkle.
Card three

Visible Image stamps - Behind Every Mask Lies A Story - Pauline Butcher

The stamp set is called Behind Every Mask.
Taking 2 similar colours of Distress ink, I used Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar, I put the ink straight from the pads onto my glass mat, sprayed water onto it so it was nice and wet, and ‘smooched’ (my term, lol) my card into the mixture to cover the card with a coloured wash, I dried it straight away using my heat gun. Using Picked Raspberry, I edged the cars with my blending tool.
Now to the bit that I did’nt show on TV, because of time… I mixed a small bit of gold mica powder with Picked Raspberry and water, and using a paint brush, I went around the edges of the background, I also did the same to a small piece of card for the sentiment. I added a touch more water to the mixture that was left, loaded up my paint brush with it and flicked it over the coloured background.

Taking the image and the sentiment, I stamped them both using Picked Raspberry, I also coloured in the iris’s of the eyes with a blue pen, and added a dot of gold mice & water to the middle of the eye.
Visible Image stamps - crow mask stamp - Pauline Butcher

I stamped the mask image with Versamark onto heat proof acetate, then used some yummy Pink/Gold sparkle EP  and heat sealed it, I fussy cut it, also cutting out the eyes too, and attached it to the card with 3D glue.

Thank you for watching the show, and also if you emailed in thank you too.
Check out the Visible Image Facebook Group, lots of daily inspiration, news and general chat, with lovely people who are fans of the awesome stamps.
I wish you and your families a very very Merry Christmas, and have a fabulous New Year.
Hugs, Pauline xxxxxx

Thank you so much Pauline for taking the time to share how you created these stunning cards, and thank you again for such awesome demos on the show! You are a natural in front of the camera!

Live The Life – Visible Image stamps

Good Afternoon 🙂  We are back with our second inspirational post today!

Over to the awesome Amber Kroening…

Hey there!  I’m back today with another Visible Image card. I really love how this card turned out!  I started with a plain white card base.  The blue background behind the butterfly was created by inking up and stamping the BACK of the butterfly stamp. Then I stamped the butterfly over the blue, in pink ink. I added a few bricks to the edges from the Max Rocks stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment at the bottom and added a twine bow to the top.

Inky Butterfly – Visible Image stamps

Hello There 🙂 Thank you for stopping by today.

Here with our regular ‘Marvellous Monday’ post it’s over to Kim Bacon…

Bore da! Or if you’re reading this a little later Prynhawn da! Either way, nice to see you here again.
Today my post for Visible Image shows how you can make a great card using just a couple of stamps and a sentiment. OK, sometimes it is good to go ‘all out’ and stamp until your hands are aching, but other times it is just about that one image.

You know I love butterflies? Well I do, and this stamp from the INKognito range is just a dream to have in my collection.

Better show you the card I think before I forget!

Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly - Kim Bacon

I started by making my background. This is wet Brusho painted onto white card. I deliberately kept away from the edges this time so that the stamping round the edge would show up more. I really like the places where the paint brush marks show.

I stamped the INKognito butterfly first and then added the traditional butterfly over the top. I used the trailing splodges from the wing of the butterfly around the edge. I used wet Brusho paint as the ‘ink’ for the stamp just painting it directly onto the stamp. I then used a darker mix for the other butterfly image. It’s neat how they fit perfectly. Was this a happy accident or did they do it on purpose? I wonder!

The sentiment is stamped in white embossing powder. I love the font, that old typewriter style. Lovely. I very nearly used the same blue again but as I knew I was going to stamp slightly over the butterfly wing, I decided to do it in white so it didn’t get lost. Such a good decision!
