Live Life

Hi there! Wow summer is well and truly here.. we don’t often have such high temperatures here in Wales but it’s been scorching the last few days! We actually took some ‘time out’ over the weekend which made a nice change.

We are kicking off this week’s inspiration with a fabulous project by Veerle Moreels…

I love to pimp up objects and when finding this little wooden tool box I immediately knew what I wanted to do.  Sand off the text that was on it, give it a new coat of white paint and stamp it with Visible Image stamps ^.^

The original text was to big to put on the front but leaving the ‘now’ off still gives you a beautiful reminder.

Love this Veerle.. what a great little box! Thank you for your fabulous inspiration ♡

Today Veerle Moreels is here with a project which makes you just stop and stare! Over to Veerle…

When I saw the Summer Release 2016 from Visible Image… this idea started growing in my head and I had so much fun creating it. Starting out with a plain wooden box that has a little window I ended up with a finished project that has a lot of meaning for me. I’m not going to tell you how I see it, what I was thinking making it. Everybody should fill it in, in their own way. But I can tell you that every structure and every single stamp was placed with a meaning, they all carry a little part of me.

I’m not going to put down every single picture here…I made to many ^.^ But I have put them together in a little video so take a look while I show you round the outside and the inside of my altered box…

Stamps used in my project:

Visible Image Mr Bone Jangles skull COL stamp set

Visible Image Music On Headphones COL stamp set

Veerle we cannot thank you enough for letting us have this for our shows… it is clear to see how much you put into making it and how very special it is ♡

We just have to add a few photos here to gaze at…

Altered Chocolate Box – Visible Image stamps

Hello! We are back with more fabulous inspiration for you!

Over to our marvellous Kim Bacon…

Is it too late to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR?

No, of course it isn’t!

I hope that you all made it happily into 2016?

As you may have noticed there have been some additions to the Visible Image design team following a DT Call late last year. Poor Helen and Mark had a really tough time selecting the successful candidates, the submissions were phenomenal.

2016 will see even more fabulous new stamps and stuff (yes, ‘stuff’, but I am not allowed to expand on that just yet) coming from Visible Image. You are going to have to watch this space. Top tip: head over to the Facebook group and you will hear all the latest news as it happens.
Right, on to my first project for 2016. I am known for my hoarding of useful bits and pieces and I have used an empty chocolate box tray for my piece today.

Naturally, I forgot to take a ‘before’ shot.

2016-01-11 Visible Image stamps - Inky Butterfly stamp - imperfection is beauty sentiment - Kim Bacon

I started by covering the whole thing with a layer of tissue paper just to block out the dark printing on the original box. I used a 50:50 mix of water and PVA glue.

Next I coloured some more tissue paper with Brusho paints in shades of blue, teal and lime. When all the pieces were dry I smothered them with more of the glue/water mix and pasted them onto the box. I deliberately made wrinkles and folds to add interest.

I waited for this to dry completely and then used a PVA glue with a mica content as a top coat. I have had this glue for years, no really, years and I am not sure where I got it from. I suppose you could use mica powder or a mica mister to add the sheen. Experiment! That is what it is all about.

Just to add even more shine, I applied some silver gilding ax very carefully to the raised folds and wrinkles around the frame.

Using black embossing powder I then stamped the INKognito butterfly onto a piece of heat resistant acetate the was cut to fir exactly into the frame. I also stamped the sentiment in black and a normal butterfly with a teal sparkle embossing powder onto more pieces of acetate.

The butterfly was cut out and stuck over the black one using a clear silicone gel. The sentiment was stuck along the bottom of the frame attached to the sides.

This was a long project as there was a lot of drying time but sometimes it is nice to do something that isn’t instant.

Halloween @ Visible Image

Good Evening! Happy Halloween to you!

Teresa Morgan is here with a fabulous project for you this evening which we saved especially for tonight!

Over to Teresa…

Thanks for stopping by again today to see some fabulous Visible Image stamps inspiration. Today I have an altered box with a funky Stampbord lid.

I began by coating the box with some bright Dylusions paints both inside and out.

Once dry I added a coat of DecoArt Media Crackle Glaze to the outside and aged with Carbon Black Antiquing Cream.

The lid is a mosaic of Stampbord pieces, coloured with Distress Inks and stamped with black Archival Ink using various Visible Image stamps. I love how you can scrape back through the Stampbord to reveal white highlights.

A final photo of the completed box:
