NEW Rise and Shine Stamp Set

Hi! We hope you are doing ok and staying safe. It’s been crazy here leading up to the release of our NEW stamps tomorrow, so apologies for neglecting our blog. We are back to resume sharing the amazing Design Team inspiration though! Lots coming up over the coming days. Jane Tyrrell is here today with a stunning card featuring our RISE AND SHINE stamp set which includes the fabulous sunshine stamp and inspiring sentiment…

Hello

I am delighted to share my first make with one of the brand new stamp sets.

I found it hard to choose which of my samples I have made to share first. I thought we could all do with some sunshine as here in England as we are in a month long lockdown again and decided my sample made with this set was perfect.

Meet the fabulous Rise and Shine Stamp Set. I adore anthropomorphic imagery.

(To give you a heads up there is a wonderful Man in the Moon in their new Midnight Sky set too.I have wanted Mark, aka Mr Visible Image to design a Man in the moon stamp for years and I am thrilled he has. My next sample I share in 2 weeks will be using that set).

So back to the sun. It was certainly shining last week as I took my daily walks. The colours of autumn this year are quite breathtaking and a little sunshine added in just makes my heart sing.

I also have a ceramic sun which sits on the wall of my studio. I bought this on holiday in Sicily and I really do treasure it.

Here is a close up

So fired up with these colours and ideas I grabbed some Yupo paper and made a sunshine packed background using alcohol inks.  I just dripped the inks onto the paper and used a blower to move the inks around.

I used all the hot yellows, oranges and a little flamingo ink.
I then turned the background sideways. I stamped the large sunshine and 2 small onto some yellow inky mop up card and cut them out.

I added some of my favourite distress colour, crackling campfire to the rays to add some colour and interest to the yellow.

The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of card which I then cut into a cloud shape. I also cut 2 more cloud shapes out of white card.

I then put my design together.

Here it is..

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope my sunny card brought a ray of sunshine into your day.
Stay safe.

Bye for now,

Jane x

Moth Stamp On Fishnet Stencil

Hello and Happy Friday to you! Today’s inspiration comes from stempelfrida who has made a fantastic mixed media card featuring our moth stamp and ripped fishnet stencil, with some elements from our ‘Somewhere in Time’ stamp set…

You cannot turn back the clock and change the past. That’s the way it is, and I think it’s also pointless to think about “what would have happened if…” because who knows if things would have turned out differently again.

With this attitude I managed my life well so far. It has helped me a lot to take decisions. In this moment, in this situation, with this mood and at this point in time you made your decision. And that is good. Fate contributes its part.  This situation will never come back. It is about standing by your decision and moving on. Do not look back, but enjoy the moment and look ahead. If it is intended differently for you, something will happen to you again, someone will meet you, something will happen…

For this collage I used a special technique to transfer an alcohol ink background from Yupo paper to normal paper. You use Alcohol Lift Ink Reinker. From this you put some drops on the background, spread them with a brayer, put a paper over it and smooth it with your hand.

The wonderful thing is that you can stamp and emboss on the “normal paper” this way. On the three photos you can see it well:

1. alcohol ink background on Yupo paper

2. transfer on normal paper

3. stamped background

On the background I applied colorless embossing paste through the ripped fishnet stencil. When it was firm in consistency but not yet completely dry, I applied Perfect Pearls in gold. So you can see through the structure, but it has a nice golden shimmer.

I also added Nuvo Drop pearls.

I stamped the moth with Ink on 3 and fussy cut it. I then coloured it with Copics. I shaped it and glued it to the background with distance pads.

I rounded off the corners of my card and the base and knotted some bast around the text.
