Time To Hibernate
This gorgeous mixed media card by Gill was created with our HEDGEHOG HUGS stamps and co-ordinating dies, and our MESH IT UP stencil and BROKEN MESH layering die.
[Tutorial] I wanted to make a nest for my hedgehogs to hibernate in. To create the background, I used Distress Oxide inks in: iced spruce, festive berries & crackling campfire, using the darker colours around the edges and the vibrant orange in the centre. I used the ‘Mesh it Up’ stencil for texture around the edges, and the ‘Breaking Glass’ stencil in the centre. I applied dried off each colour, adding layers of colour until I was happy. To add more texture and layers, I die cut the ‘Broken Mesh’ layering die using card coloured with oxide ink, and snipped it into pieces to frame my nest. I added some gold gilding wax for a metallic feel.
I stamped the hedgehogs onto white stamping card using black Versafine ink, and clear embossed them. Next I die cut them using the fantastic new co-ordinating dies! Once cut out, I coloured them with paints. I then used a white gel pen to highlight the eyes and some of the prickles. Next I stamped and die cut the leaves, and coloured them with Distress crayons. I stamped the sentiments on white card, cut them out and matted onto black card to make them stand out from the background. Before adhering all the elements in place, I splattered some white paint for a snowy feel. Gill ♡
