Sunset Surf

Rachel’s stunning ‘sunset surf’ card was created with our RIDE THE WAVES stamp set and STROBES stencil.

[Tutorial] Unlike my usual makes, I started this creation by stamping first rather than creating the background. The waves from the ‘Ride the Waves’ stamp set was stamped onto a DL sized white card using Versafine Clair ‘Monarch’ purple ink, the sailing boat, birds and surfer were then stamped in Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink. All elements were then heat embossed using Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder.

Next up, ‘Saltwater Taffy’, ‘Shaded Lilac’ and ‘Scattered Straw’ distress ink were blended over the background and around the edges of the card. ‘Picket Fence’ distress ink was then added through the ‘Strobes’ stencil to create a sunset effect. This was enhanced using a white and yellow colouring pencil before some bead paste was added beside the surfer and at the bottom of the wave effect. Some footprints were then stamped onto the card using ‘Tea Dye’ distress ink.

The card wouldn’t be complete without the sentiments. These were stamped onto some white card using Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. They were then edged with distress inks in ‘Saltwater Taffy’ and ‘Scattered Straw’ before being mounted on black card and added to the background using 3D mounts. 

Finally, the background was put onto black card and a white card blank before some wink of Stella glitter pen was added to the waves. A bright and cheerful beach inspired card for any occasion this summer! Rachel ♡
