Moonlit Tree

Rachel’s stunning card was created with our BRANCH OUT stencil and our NIGHT OWL stamp set.

[Tutorial] I love the versatility of stencils. They are great to use as a focal point or background to any card. The new ‘Branch Out’ stencil is excellent for all those nature inspired cards.

To begin with I used the mask from the ‘Bubbles and Fizz’ stencil to create a moon on a white piece of paper by brushing ‘Salvaged Patina’ around the edge. I then blended more ‘Salvaged Patina’ ink around the moon I had created before adding to this with ‘Stormy Sky’ and ‘Chipped Sapphire’ distress inks to give the effect of a moody sky. I then added the ‘Branch Out’ stencil tree and little bird to the background using ‘Walnut Stain’ distress ink. Leaves were added using the same ink in various places over the tree and some to look like they were in fall. Once the ink was dry I smoothed Distress translucent crackle paste through the tree stencil and left this to go tacky. As the paste dried I added some gold gilding flakes to various parts of the trees and around some of the leaves. Once dried the excess was brushed off. The sentiment from the ‘Night Owl’ stamp set was then stamped in Versafine Clair ‘Twilight’ dark blue ink and highlighted with white gel pen.

On another piece of card I stamped the owl from the ‘Night Owl’ stamp set in Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink.  This was then heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder before being coloured in with coloured pencils and fussy cut out. This was then added to the card using 3D mounts. Finally, the background was glued to black card and a white card blank. A great little card for all nature lovers this season I hope you agree? Rachel
