Dragonflies

Rachel’s beautiful card was created with the dragonfly stamps and background elements from our LIVE IN THE MOMENT set, GRUNGE TONES background stamps and SUPERNOVA stencil, with a lovely sentiment from our BRIGHTEN THE WORLD set.

[Tutorial] I was listening to a song by a band the other day and it happened to mention dragonflies. It’s amazing where your crafty inspiration can come from! So, for my DT make this week I’m using the fabulous ‘Live in the Moment’ stamp set, alongside the ‘Grunge Tones’ and ‘Brighten the World’ stamp sets, as well as the fabulous ‘Supernova’ stencil.

I started by taking a white piece of card and spraying it with ‘Shaded Lilac’, ‘Kitsch Flamingo’ and ‘Tumbled Glass’ distress spray stain. Once dried, I blended ‘Shaded Lilac’ distress ink through the ‘Supanova’ stencil in 2 corners of the card before stamping the circles from the ‘Live in the Moment’ stamp set using Versafine Clair ‘Monarch’ and ‘Charming Pink’ inks. Some ‘Grunge Tones’ were then added using Versafine Clair ‘Warm Breeze’ ink and Versamark that was then heat embossed with Wow metallic silver superfine embossing powder.

The dragonflies from the ‘Live in the Moment’ stamp set were then stamped in Versafine Clair ‘Nocturne’ black ink before being heat embossed with Wow superfine clear gloss embossing powder. The larger dragonfly was stamped once more on a separate piece of card before being heat embossed in the same way, fussy cut out and coloured in using Zig Color Clean brushes.

Finally, the sentiment from the ‘Brighten the World’ stamp set was stamped onto black card using Versamark and heat embossed with Wow opaque bright white superfine embossing powder before being fussy cut out. The background was then layered onto black card and a white card blank before the sentiment, large dragonfly and sparkly water droplets were added.
