Snow At Christmas

Nicola made her beautiful Christmas card with our LET IT SNOW and CHRISTMAS WISHES stamp sets and our BUBBLES & FIZZ stencil. [Tutorial] On a 13x13cm piece of white card I started by stamping the large snowflake using Versamark 3 times around the edge in various positions. I then heat embossed using Wow bright white embossing powder. Next I sprinkled Lindys Magicals in azure and teal and sprayed with water to create a swirly background. I dried this using a heat tool. I wasn’t keen on how this turned out, it needed something more, so I lightly sprayed Distress Mica Stain in Merry Mint and a tiny bit of Cocktail Party, added more water, let it work it’s magic and dried. This was the look I was going for and it was beautifully shimmery. Using the small snowflakes I randomly stamped these in contrasting shades of warm breeze and charming pink Versafine Clair. I also darkened the edges of the card with midnight blue Elements ink. I then lightly wiped the large white snowflakes with a barely damp cloth to bring them back up to bright white. Because the inks I used after embossing are all water based they easily wipe off the embossing which has acted as a resist. Make sure you only wipe the snowflake though, you don’t want to remove any of your beautiful background. While everything is drying completely I tore a piece of heat resistant velum in a strip to fit the width of my card plus a little extra and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment using Versamark and Wow metallic silver sparkle embossing powder. To create the “bokeh” effect I used Pan Pastels in shades of white pearl and ultramarine blue tint (just white would do though) through different sized circles of the Bubbles & Fizz stencil, making sure I overlapped some of them to create the effect I wanted. After this step I spattered some white acrylic paint to give a little snowy magic. When this was dry I distressed the edges of the card using a distress tool. Next I positioned the sentiment strip and secured at the back of the card using double sided tape. I then mat and layered my card using black card and a bright aqua blue mirri card and adhered this to the front of a white 15x15cm card blank. Finishing touches were a few gems to add a little festive sparkle. Nicola ♡
