Memories + Moments | Special Scrapbook Page

Hi there! We have Jane here on the blog today with a fabulous scrapbook page for her memory journal featuring the gorgeous large flower stamps from our WHERE FLOWERS BLOOM set, SON + DAUGHTER definition stamps, and our fantastic INK SWIRLS stencil…

Hello it’s time to share my latest Visible Image design team project. Today I am sharing a “Moment” I have made for one of my physical journals “Jane’s Journal”. These are art journals which document many  of my life events and I haven’t made one for a long time. In April I celebrated my 60th birthday. I had thought it would be very low key with just my Hb and I going to RHS Wisley Gardens in Surrey. It was at the very beginning of life and places opening  up a little more after the 2nd Lockdown. Little did I know when we arrived at Wisley that not only would my daughter (who I had not seen for over 5 months) appear bearing birthday cupcakes but my son too, and they had been hatching this plan for months. It was just the best and most carefully orchestrated surprise and I was blown away (and yes I did shed a few tears of sheer joy!)

It really was the best of times and I needed to document it in my art forever.

I decided to choose this photo for my Moment which was taken when I first saw my children and we went inside the grounds, my 3 most important people.

Here’s what I got up to.

I added a light spray of distress ink to a sheet of water colour card

I then added some stenciling using the fab Ink Swirls stencil and kitsch flamingo and worn lipstick distress oxide inks.

I added it fairly randomly all over the page.

Next I stamped the son and daughter definitions stamps  into the top right and bottom left of the page.

I made a frame for my photo using alcohol inks and Yupo.

I die cut a rectangle from the Yupo and stuck my photo underneath.

I stamped the gorgeous memories sentiment from the Express Yourself set under where the photo would be.

Then I added some more stamping to the edges of my page and behind the frame using the Where Flowers Bloom set.

I purposely stamped using Versafine Clair ink so that the stencil showed through the stamping. If you don’t like this effect you would need to use Archival or another oil based ink which is more opaque. Or you could use a pure dye based ink like regular distress for the stenciling.

I also stamped and cut out a couple of the smaller flowers from Where Flowers Bloom  using a scrap of card coloured using Brushos.

Then it was time to assemble my page.

with a couple of close ups;

We have not been together with our children like this on a day out since they young and still lived at home. It really was a very special day and it lives on in Jane’s Journal.

Special Moments

Hello! Not long to go now until we close for the Christmas holidays for some much needed rest and lovely family time!

We have some wonderfully magical inspiration here on the blog for you today from Jane Tyrrell…

Today is my last design team inspiration piece for the year for Visible Image. The next time I am back with some Visible Image inspiration will be in January when we will be starting to showcase their totally awesome new stamps!

For today I thought that I would weave a little Christmas magic and share a final post of our wonderful Disneyland Paris trip with Daisy. This is the second art journal “Moment” I made to remember this magical holiday.

For this art journal Moment I chose to capture the memories of the Princess lunch we enjoyed…

We were visited by the gorgeous Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Belle..

Daisy was totally entranced and honestly believed we were in the company of the real deal. The princesses were so professional and treated our darling sweetheart like a real princess. They really took the time to talk to her, sign her autograph book, pose for photos and admire the Princess Anna dress she was wearing.

I decided to use the photo of Daisy with Cinderella for my focal for my Moment as think it shows the the pure joy on our little sweetheart’s face. I fussy cut it out as I wanted it to become part of the background

I added some infusions and distress oxide ink to my mixed media card to start to create a magical background. Salty Ocean is a great Cinderella colour, perhaps I might rename mine Cinderella Blue!

I added some gold ink through the Strobes stencil

to create some star bursts

I stamped and gold embossed the clock swirl from the Ahead of our Time stamp set several times

as a reminder of that moment in time with the Princesses.

I also stamped stars from Universal

to add a little more magic

and also some celebratory bubbles using those from  the Dare to Swim stamp set

The 2 quotes I used were

‘Make a Wish’ from Own it!

So here is my finished Moment..

I hope that when Daisy is older she can look back and remember the day she met her real Princesses and remember the Moments I have stored for her in Jane’s Journal. You can see just how versatile Visible Image stamps and stencils are for everything, including art journalling and mixed media work. We made a wish and made memories which  really are,

“special moments that tell our story”

I have finished off  the last of my last Christmas makes. My crackers for Christmas 2017 are ready for the table and I will be back to share them very soon over on my blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking the time to leave your kind comments, especially at this very busy time of the year. I hope that you have nearly finished all your Christmas preps too.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Special Moments – Visible Image stamps

Good Morning 🙂 We hope you had a great Easter Bank Holiday weekend! The sun was shining here in South Wales, spring is finally here 🙂

We’re really looking forward to The Big Stamp and Scrapbooking show this coming weekend at Alexandra Palace, are you coming? You’ll find us on stand 54 with all out latest releases!

Yesterday Kim Bacon shared a very special project over on her blog, we’re a day late showing you it (sorry Kim) but the stamp making and packing elves didn’t show up for work again so it was down to us…. Hahaha!

Here’s Kim…

I have a special blog post for you today on Marvellous Monday!

I have once again been lucky enough to have an article published in CRAFT STAMPER magazine.

The guys at Visible Image have designed the free cover stamp for the May issue of the magazine and I was lucky enough to be asked to create a project using the free stamp.

Obviously I had the stamp a few months ago and got to play with it way before anyone else. My fellow DT member Pauline also did some samples for the magazine and I am sure she will show you hers on her blog in due course.

So, what did I make? Well, I made a pocket book which I have suggested could be used to put your favourite photos in or you could use it to write some special words in.I started by colouring some pieces of A3 card with Gentle Blends and then using the free stamp I stamped all over them using Gentle Blends as the ink. Really you could use any medium you are comfortable with.

For this step I deliberately avoided the pixel-edge part of the stamp so that the background was kept fairly light. You can see from the picture above how I coloured the card.Once I had coloured and stamped about 4 sheets of card I made the pockets. These pockets can be made to almost any size to suit. These particular pockets are 11cm x 15cm, so the starting piece of card is 22cm x 15cm.

The card is glued around 3 sides leaving one of the short sides open for the tag The corners were rounded off. I then stamped around the edges using the dotty edge of the stamp.

The covers for the book were made using mount board cut slightly larger than the pockets and covered with the stamped and coloured card.I also used the larger Visible Image flourish stamp and a sentiment, which I stamped in black and embossed.

I made some tags to fit in each pocket which I also stamped with the free stamp in both the Gentle Blends colours and black for contrast.
