Words of Support | Stencil

Hello! Thanks for visiting our blog today. We are sharing a gorgeous card by Heather today, created with our WORDS OF SUPPORT and RIPPED FISHNET stencils, and stamps from our DON’T JUDGE set…

Afternoon!

I was super excited to see a wordy stencil when Words of Support was released last year, and one that was so poignant was just such a breath of fresh air!

stencil | kindness | empathy | words of support

This make was super simple but I’ll give you a quick run down…

I started the make using a gel press background I’d already created a while back.  I used a 7″ circle press for this and just brayered on pink and white acrylics.

I love the fact that the new Ripped Fishnet stencil is outline free so I popped him on top of the gelli print and used Distress Oxide Ink Pads to add some colour.

I didn”t tape the stencil down so had to be a bit careful but look at the what you get…

… lovely mottled effect!

I wanted to use the words separately so trimmed a hole in some scrap paper to mask off areas and to blend the colour, I used a mixture of Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord and Seedless Preserves.

The jigsaw pieces from the Don’t Judge set, were stamped onto another pre-made background that I added some shimmer mist too, trimmed and added to the card using foam tape.

The small sentiments, also from the Don’t Judge set, were then stamped around the edge before trimming and matting onto black card and then to an 8×8″ card blank.

A really lovely card to send to someone in need a little hug… and here’s the lovely goodies I made it with…

Spreading Some Love and Kindness

Hello there! Thanks for coming to check out today’s inspiration, we hope you are doing ok. Heather is here on the blog today, spreading some love and kindness with a gorgeous mixed media card featuring our ONE KIND WORD stamp set…

One Kind Word. Says it all at the moment doesn’t it? Thankfully I have my art to turn to during these lockdowns, and wow what a saviour it has been.

It seemed appropriate to make something a little more light hearted than maybe I’ve been feeling lately, and I have to admit I love the One Kind Word set. You can sneak quite a lot on that little piece of paper trapped in the typewriter, although this time I’ve gone for just one of the sentiments in the set.

I’ve gone with a pink theme for this make, although I was originally toying with the idea of a blue/turquoise mix, but I had this old gelli plate background in my drawer (that I’ve been saving for ages and didn’t want to use) and picked the pink to go with it. The print is a mop up print (a print you do to ‘clean’ your plate of paint/ink) and I love the mop-ups usually more than the prints themselves. You get these crusty bits of old paint picked up and I just adore the texture it creates. Perfect!

First thing I did was to create the heart. This is just a generic die-cut heart, approx 10cm across that I inked using Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. Having then attached the Strobes stencil over the top, I added Picked Raspberry oxide ink. However… it all then went a bit wrong. I was adding some beautiful Tattered Angels Glimmer Spray (Lovely Lilac) for a bit of shimmer and the bottle fell over and went everywhere.. Uh-oh!

So rather than start again, I went with it as actually it looked lovely and heat dried it. The spray gave a really subtle lilac colour and where it had run, the mottled effect was quite pleasing (although I wouldn’t recommend tipping your inks everywhere).

Once dried, I secured the Strobes stencil in place (again) and added the Picked Raspberry. To add to the overall love and kindness theme, I used the Words of Support stencil and just masked off the word ‘love’, adding it using Candied Apple oxide ink pad.

The typewriter was really easy to do. Simply stamp in black and then heat emboss using clear powder. I also heat embossed the sentiment using a grey ink instead (VersaFine Claire Morning Mist).

Once trimmed, I coloured the ‘paper’ in the typewriter using Old Paper and Tea Dye Distress Ink pads (not oxides).

With the type writer added to the heart using foam tape, I used the small hearts from the One Kind Word stamp set to float around the type writer and to add to the general theme. These were just heat embossed onto gold card and attached using teeny tiny foam squares.

I then decided that ‘something’ was needed behind the heart to and so settled on my old favourite stencil, Strobes. Rather than just use modelling paste, I used Izink Ice as it’s translucent and is just fabulous! I applied a thin-ish layer of Freesia using a palette knife and then allowed to air dry.

Once the Ice was dry, I added foam tape to the rear of the heart and to add extra texture (because that’s what I do) I then twisted some black cotton onto the tape to break up the background.

The sentiment was heat embossed using gold powder onto a similar coloured scrap card I had and then matted onto gold card.

With the card complete, I matted it onto the same gold card as the sentiment and then onto black card to make those colours ‘pop’!

Love and Compassion | Mindful Stamps | Stencils

Hello! We are back with more wonderful inspiration for you today. Lynda Hall has combined our NEW ‘Words of Support’ stencil with stamps from our ‘Love is Love’ and ‘Don’t Judge’ sets, which work so well together…

Today’s creation for Visible Image is all about love and uses some incredibly powerful images and words. This card would be perfect for anyone that needed a little support in troubled times.

compassion | calm | hope | trust | stencil | stamps

I started with a piece of mixed media card sprayed with a combination of Dylusions and Distress Oxide spray inks, and I stamped and embossed one of the faces from the new ‘Love is Love’ set at the edge.

On a gelli print scrap in coordinating colours I also embossed the sentiment ‘Love Is’ inside the heart stamp from Don’t Judge.

I added some background stamping for added depth and then applied texture paste through some of the words on the Words of Support stencil. Because the inks are water based, the paste absorbs some of the colour and tints it as it dries- very cool!

To finish I stamped and fussy cut the person from Don’t Judge, outlined the words in black, and added white highlights and some pops of colour to the details on the face profile.

This is such a wonderful card Lynda, and will be so meaningful to so many people. The white embossing looks gorgeous against the vibrant background and we love how the colours come through in the words. Thank you ♡

Mindful Forest | Stencils

Hello! We are excited to be kicking off a new week packed full of gorgeous inspiration here on the blog! Now that all the orders for our gorgeous new stencils have been shipped (thank you for the love!), we can spend some time sharing all the amazing things our Design Team have created with them! First up this week is the lovely stempelfrida from Germany with a beautiful project created with ‘The Forest’ and ‘Words of Support’ stencils…

Be mindful with nature – this is the theme of my piece today. It shows a lovely play of colours as you can experience it in the forest.

forest | stencil | mindful sentiment | handmade card

The basis of my card is a Gelli Plate print, which I designed with acrylic paint. To be honest, I didn’t find it soooooo exciting so that I did not use it directly. But that’s the way it is with Gelli Plate prints in my opinion, every single one finds his own purpose – at some point. And when I had the idea with the forest stencil, that was the time for this print. All of a sudden it was perfect. After all, this is something that is part of respecting nature: recycling.

So if you don’t like a Gelli Plate print at first sight, please do not throw it away, but just pick it up! At some point it will be THE right one for your project.

On this print I applied white structure paste with the forest stencil. I usually use an old check card. Sometimes I even cut them a bit thinner.  As you can see on the photo, my paste is a bit coarser.

The word “mindful” I also applied on a piece of natural, fibrous paper, which I tore at the edges. It has a wonderful plum tone.

I’ve made a few different snap shots. On some of them the colours seem so bright. The sun just came through the thick clouds.

And look here, the impression in the forest changes as soon as it gets a little darker. Great, right? It’s really like that. If the light in the forest changes a little then the atmosphere in a forest suddenly appears completely different.

And I also have a few portraits for you 🙂
