Summer Flowers | Daffodil Stamp

Hello! We hope you had a lovely weekend and are starting the new week feeling rested. We have lots of gorgeous projects coming your way this week, starting with a beautiful summer card by Judy Rozema featuring our daffodil stamp…

Summer is almost over?? Say it isn’t so! I know many of us still feel stuck in March. I know I do frequently. But, I am also ready for cooler weather. How about you?

So before summer disappears completely, I want to share some of my summer creations using stamps and stencils from Visible Image.

First up is my favorite new stencil: MESH IT UP. I love the irregular, non-symmetrical design. It gives such great texture to any background! For this card, I started with heavy, toothed watercolor paper, inked up with Distress Oxide Inks, and swirled with a water brush to soften the colors. I chose two pinks, a yellow, and a touch of green.

Then I stamped the daffodils from FLOWER ART using VersaFine Clair Nocturne. Because of the texture of the watercolor paper, the image lines also show texture. Next came the sentiment from SUMMER WINGS. I thought “reflect” worked well with the watercolor circles of yellow. Finally, I added the MESH IT UP stencil on top, using my MAKE IT ART STAY-tion to hold the stencil in place. I added tiny rhinestones for sparkle.

I love this stencil and these stamps so much, that I made another card using the same products, but with different background techniques and colors – and had totally forgotten that it was so similar. That’s 2020 for you!

For this one I used a smooshed background with Distress Oxides and a sentiment from EQUALITY HOPE & LOVE.

Which do you like better?

Distressed Heart | Mesh Stencil

Hi there! We are back with more wonderful inspiration this evening. Our fabulous Design Team member Ali Carubia is here with a stunning card featuring our NEW ‘Mesh it Up’ stencil with our amazing ‘Organics’ background stamps and more…

Wishing everyone a very Happy Monday!

I’d like to share this card I’ve made using the left over bits from sample making with the fab new stencils.
This is a simpler version of one of my samples💖

heart card | mesh stencil | love is love sentiment

Creating a heart mask – I took a piece of copy paper, folded it in half, drew half a heart and cut it so the heart shape measures approx 6″ x 6″.  I was careful to leave the outer part in one piece for the mask. ✂

I sprayed the inside edge of the heart mask with stencil adhesive – Stick and Spray, waited a couple of minutes for it to dry off then laid it over a piece of white card.

I coloured the heart shape with Cosmic Shimmer Lavender Blue Opal Polish and Bubblegum Lustre Polish, the blue down the left hand side and blended into the pink. Then dried it with a heat gun.

I used the remaining pink polish left on the applicator to colour a scrap of white card then stamped one of the flowers (Random Art of Kindness stamps) in black versafine ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. ⚘

I sprayed stick & spray over the back of the stencil, waited a minute and then laid it over my 💜  heart.

I applied black texture paste with a spatula over the stencil. You could use an old credit card if you haven’t got a spatula.

Then lifted off the stencil and lashed it into a bowl of water. 🚰

The texture paste takes a while to dry, you can speed it up with a heat gun.

I coloured the centre petals with a little watered down Lavender Polish and cut it out. ✂ I snipped between the petals then shaped it using a ball tool and the back of a foam mat.

I had some tropical leaf die cuts left over from a previous project which went really well with the colour scheme – Tim Holtz’s Tropical set by Sizzix.

When the texture paste was dry, I peeled off the paper mask and cut out the coloured heart. I sponged a little black gesso around the edge to add a vignette.

I stamped the splats from the ‘Organics’ stamp set in black Versafine ink on an 8″ x 8″ white card blank, working outwards from the centre.

I also stamped the Love is Love sentiments onto white card and matted them onto black card.

I fixed the heart onto the centre of the card with double sided foam and the flowers and leaves with 3d glue gel.

I also used the glue gel to add the sentiments to the right hand side of the heart.

Hope you like it and I have inspired you to have a go. Please come and share your makes with us in the Visible Image Facebook Group 😎

Daisy Daisy | NEW Stencil

Hello! We hope you had a lovely weekend. We are very excited to be previewing our awesome NEW stencils this week! Our Design Team have been having so much fun with them over the weekend! Ericka Strange is kicking off this week’s inspiration with 2 vibrant summer cards featuring our gorgeous ‘Daisy Daisy’ and ‘Mesh it Up’ frameless stencils…

For my first card…

I used the new Daisy Daisy stencil along with Mesh It Up.

I started with a gel press print that I had created with Distress Oxides and paint. Originally it wasn’t anything too great, but then I added embossing ink with my blending tool to the Mesh It Up stencil, and sprinkled WOW! Bahama embossing powder on it.

I love the chunky texture both the stencil and the embossing powder give the panel.

I then took some Bristol Smooth paper and the Daisy Daisy stencil and blended Distress Oxides in  Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, and Marmalade.

I cut the outline of the stencil out and stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Soul stamp set in black on the daisy.

For my second card..

I used the same Daisy Daisy stencil but on a panel I created with Distress Oxide reinkers on photo paper.

For more information on how to create the background check out my blog post here.

I then used the stencil and applied Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide lightly around the stencil with a blending brush.

I stamped the butterflies from the Wings of Change set in Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide. I also used the sentiment and stamped it in black archival ink.

I love the grungy but bright look the distress oxides have on the photopaper and the different layers.
