Mythical Mermaid Stamp | Handmade Card

Hello! Thanks for visiting our blog today, it’s been a busy week so we have lots of wonderful Design Team inspiration to catchup with here on the blog. Lynda has made a really beautiful handmade card with our gorgeous Mythical Mermaid stamp, on a fabulous gelli print background..

As you may have been made aware, this week has seen World Oceans Day being celebrated to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our seas. Todays project for Visible Image was made with that in mind. Obviously mermaids don’t really exist, but I like to think they do , and in this card the Mythical Mermaid is watching over her sea creature pals keeping them safe.

My card started from a circular gel print that I had made a while ago while creating backgrounds for the recent summer release of stamps. I made it on my round gelli plate using acrylic paints and the fabulous Ripped Fishnet stencil.

I started by stamping my mermaid in position using a stamp platform. Once stamped, I kept the paper and stamp in place as wanted to lay down a layer of white gesso in the areas for colouring, and then once dry I was able to stamp in the details.

I painted her with skin tone acrylic paint, and used a Sparkle Pen on her top and tail to add some shimmer.

I then stamped the dolphins, and background stamps inside the circle, embossing the bubbles in white and the fish with Distress Glaze.

I coloured the dolphins and sand with Polychromo pencils, and also added some shading to the mermaids features.

To finish, I coloured the bubbles and added glossy accents, and mat and layered on complimentary blue card.

The beach really is my happy place, so creating this sea themed card was so relaxing to do. Hopefully I will find time to visit the coast for real soon, and who knows, I may even spot a mermaid !

Transform | Mermaid Stamp | Fishnet Stencil

Good Evening! We are sneaking in with another project tonight… Ericka Strange has teamed up our awesome NEW ‘Ripped Fishnet’ stencil with our ‘Mythical Mermaid’ stamp to create a stunning card…

Today I’m showcasing the NEW Ripped Fishnet stencil with Distress Oxide inks

mermaid stamp | fishnet stencil | torn | ripped | underwater theme card

I used Bristol Smooth paper and post it tape to mask off a section of my card. I then took Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers and blended the two colours together. I then used the Fishnet stencil and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide and blended it on top of the two colors.

I didn’t want the background of the mermaid to be white, so I first blended Distress Oxides in Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio.

I stamped the image with Versafine ink and only heat embossed the portion on the mermaid I wanted to sparkle with Cloud 9 embossing powder.

I took a water brush and paper towel and removed the ink on a portion I wanted to be lighter. I then added some Zig Real Color Brushmarkers for added depth to the image and cut her out to use on my card.

I applied foam tape to the back and adhered her to the card base. I added the sentiment from the Wings of Change set to finish off my card.

Mermaid Stamp | Underwater Scene | Handmade Card

Hi there! Pauline Butcher has got her hands on our NEW Mermaid stamp set, and has created a fabulous underwater themed card…

I’m here to share a card I’ve made using one of the awesome new stamp sets from Visible Image.

I’ve used the gorgeous Mythical Mermaid for my card..

Take a look at how many extra stamps you get in the set..

mermaid stamp - dophin - waves - bubbles

I’ve used them all to make my mythical scene!

I stamped the gorgeous Mermaid, onto some water colour card, and coloured her in using Zig Clean Color real brush pens, I then stamped across the card using the fabulous bubbly waves stamp, and some Versafine Clare Warm Breeze. I then added a moon/Sun Mask to the sky, and blended Salty Ocean, Mustard seed and Picked Raspberry Distress inks around the mermaid and across I took off the mask, and added some colour inside the circle. With a wet paint brush and kitchen towel, I took out some of the colour to make clouds.

Now for the water, again using blending tools, I added Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron, and Peacock Feathers randomly, then used the fabulous Fibres Stencil, blending through it with Peacock Feathers.

I stamped the crab straight onto the background, all the bubbles and the sentiment too, the Dolphins, ‘Mermaid’ word and shells were stamped onto another piece of card, coloured in, and fussy cut. I coloured all the bubbles with a white pen, added all the elements with 3D glue gel, then added some gold micro beads as sand, then loads of Stickles to finish off.

Mythical Mermaid Stamp | Underwater Themed Card

Hello! Wow what a busy week we’re having, we’re overwhelmed by all the love for our NEW stamps, so thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered so far. Jane Tyrrell is here to inspire you today with the very first card created with our Mythical Mermaid stamps…

A Mermaid’s Tail…

Good Evening,

It’s not a typo in my title, but very apt if you read on. It is a very exciting one for me as I can reveal my very first sample made with June release of Visible Image stamps. There are 9 amazing new sets including sentiments, something for everyone.

I love mermaids and so does my sweet 5 year old granddaughter Daisy. She and are often say that we would like to be mermaids!

I love the seaside, and there is nothing quite like gazing out to sea. This is a photo from one of our Rhodes trips…

I often sit on a rock on the beach and just lose myself in thought… and yes I would love to see a mermaid! No luck so far but I will keep you posted on that one!

In the awesome June release is none other than a mermaid set called ‘Mythical Mermaid’, and I knew that my first sample to make just had to be with her.

mermaid stamp

I decided that I wanted to make up an underwater story to go with the fab sentiment.

I got out my alcohol inks, as these make perfect underwater backgrounds. I used glossy card stock, dripped on the inks and then added more with a felt.

Once dry I die cut a scalloped circle out of one.

I stamped and coloured Miss Mermaid with Zig watercolour markers and cut her out

While I was making some prototype practice mermaids I accidentally cut one of the prongs of the trident off so I removed it… and just look how cute she is stoking one of the dolphins. I will use this idea for a future project. There is nothing like a happy accident is there.

Anyway back to A Mermaid’s Tail.

I stamped just her tail onto acetate coloured with alcohol inks, you will see why later on.

I stamped and coloured the gorgeous dolphin and shells and cut some out.

and also die cut some seaweed and a ships wheel and coloured them with inks.

Then it was time to put my Mermaid’s Tail (Tale) together.. (just indulge me 😉 ).

I used foam pads between the 2 backgrounds so this card has lots of depth to it in real life.

So are you sitting comfortably?

mermaid card - handmade - stamp

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful a mermaid who lived in her shell lined cave at the bottom of the sea. There was always treasures nearby to furnish it with.  Her most recent find was the wheel from a ship wreck, (don’t worry she rescued the Captain… but that’s another story). She often swam up to the surface of the sea and looked out toward the shore in the distance. Sometimes she sat on a rock and gazed out… life looked so different there.

She had a sweet pod of dolphins who loved to visit her and swim with her. One day she decided that it was time to go ashore for ever, to see if she could find her rescued Captain. With one flick of her stunning tail she was almost away..

However she felt the urgent nuzzle of one of her dolphin friends against her tail and a tap with his claw from one of the crabs. She stopped swimming and turned around. She looked down and saw that her dolphin buddy was presenting her a with a gorgeous gold coloured starfish, balanced on the tip of his nose. He told her that she was the Queen of the Ocean, and that all the underwater creatures needed her. He made her feel so special.

At that moment she realised that there was probably far more joy and beauty in her underwater world than she would find on dry land, even though her heart longed for it. Her underwater friends needed and looked up to her.

Everyone, including the crabs (who tapped their claws together in unison) were so delighted that she had not deserted them. The pod of dolphins did a little dance among the shells and the crabs laughed at their antics.

And that the secrets of the ocean were safe… for always.

Here is one last shot…

Thanks for indulging my little daydream.

I am busy making some more samples with these gorgeous new stamp sets… it may be a fairy story next week 😂 No don’t worry you will be safe, one fairy-tale is enough!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x
