Inky Hummingbird Stamp

Hello! Heather Mitchell is here on the blog today with a fabulous card featuring our beautiful inky hummingbird stamp with loads of sparkle…

Hello everyone…

I’ve gone all sparkly and glittery today, having bought some gorgeous new embossing powders at the NEC last weekend, and have used them on the utterly divine inky hummingbird stamp from the Life Is Beautiful stamp set to create a multi coloured, textural Hummingbird on a geometric background.

hummingbird stamp - sparkly embossing powder

The background itself is made using the 1983 stencil which I’ve layered it up using different Oxide ink pads (as I wanted a  chalky, matt finish).  Although it’s not very clear in the photographs, I have used the Count Me In stencil over ‘1983’ and used the Distress Resist Spray to add texture. Once I was happy with the colours, I’ve added the Grate-Ful stencil, again moving it around to create a grid pattern.

The circle details, to the right of the bird, are also stamped in glitter powder and I placed them here to break up the rigidity and geometric look of the background.

For the Hummingbird, I wanted to use teals and blues as I love them against the pinks and purples.

Having done a basic stamp using a white opaque embossing powder, I’ve then used glitter embossing powders to make him shine!  Taking each colour at a time, I’ve stamped certain areas, added powder, melted and then done a different area to really build up the colour.

The sentiment has been stamped using one of the glitter powders used on the bird and have been added using foam tape.  To finish, I’ve matted the image onto a shimmer teal coloured card and then onto a dark graphite shimmer card.

Here are the Visible Image products I used for this make…

NEW stencils – Visible Image

Good Morning and Happy Saturday to you! It’s a beautiful day here in Wales, the sun is shining and the trees are displaying all the gorgeous Autumnal colours. We are counting down to the release date of our amazing new stamps and stencils, so we will be sharing lots of brand new inspiration here on the blog! Heather Mitchell is here this morning with an amazing card featuring 2 of our new stencils with our stunning new ‘You Are Not Alone’ stamp set…

Hello everyone!

I’ve been playing with my Gelli plate recently and had prepared some backgrounds (using some of the Visible Image beautiful products naturally!) and I was itching to use them, so when the gorgeous new stamps and stencils landed on my door mat I knew exactly what to do with them!

The first card uses the new 1983 stencil and all I’ve done is simply draw around the outlines using a Derwent Inktense pencil in a matching purple hue and then used a teeny tiny brush to water the edges and blur them slightly.

geometric - two tone - stencils

To add to the geometric vibe, I’ve then used the new Two Tone stencil with some Graphite Texture Paste.

The hands on the You Are Not Alone stamp set are truly amazing!  I didn’t want to stamp them onto card and then fussy cut them out as I wanted a more translucent look, so I’ve heat embossed onto vellum, adding the sentiment from the set first in white and then in copper powder (to create a slight shading).

pointing hand stamp

The flash of light that I’ve positioned beaming out the finger, has been heat embossed in several metallic shades (copper, platinum and rich gold) and I’ve added a few adhesive gems to finish it off before matting it onto purple pearlised card and attaching to a 7×7″ card blank.

Ghost Print

The second card started life as the ghost print of the Gelli print used above. A ghost print is where you take off the excess ink on the Gelli plate after you’ve already pulled a print. This print is usually faded and lighter in appearance but very often they’re my favourite print as you can get some fantastic texture coming through!

strobes - rays - stencil

Over the print, I’ve layered the small fading polka dots from the Set The Tone set and then added the three different sized circles from the You Are Not Alone set used previously.

The gorgeous Hummingbird, from the Life is Beautiful set, looks fabulous positioned over where the Strobe stencil has left a textured gold print and has been heat embossed in a beautiful sparkly amethyst colour. To finish, I’ve added the sentiment from Voices In Your Head set and matted it onto matching turquoise card before adhering to a card 7×7″ blank.

Never Forget You Are Beautiful

Hello! We are back with more wonderful inspiration today. Pauline Butcher made Helen a stunning Birthday card featuring our gorgeous hummingbird stamp, and our spirograph inspired ‘Visometry’ background stamps, and Pauline is here on the blog today to tell you how she made it…

Hi there,

I am back from my wonderful relaxing holiday, the weather just couldn’t have been any better, I just wish I was still there, lol, but life must go on !!!!

It’s time for me to share something I’ve made using some of the awesome Visible Image products. It was Helen’s birthday (Mrs Visible Image) a couple of weeks ago, and this was the card I made her…

The stamps I’ve used on this card are…

Life is Beautiful: the hummingbird and the sentiment. I also added in ‘never forget it from the Voices In Your Head stamp set

hummingbird stamp - visible image

and some background stamping: I made the flowers from the Visometry set

geometric shapes - background stamps - visible image

the circles from the Shape it Up set

line art - shape background stamps

and also the Strobes Stencil

strobes stencil - visible image

I started by colouring the card with Mustard Seed Distress ink, then lay the stencil over the top, and blended through it with Picked Raspberry Distress ink. I then stamped the Hummingbird using Versafine Black ink, and randomly stamped the circles using Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.

I then stamped the Hummingbird again on a separate piece of card, again using Versafine Black ink, and using Pebeo Dyna paints, with 4 or 5 colours, I painted over the image, shading where it needed to be. When it was dry, I fussy cut it.

I stamped out the flowers in different sizes, coloured them in using some Sparkle Pens, then fussy cut them, layering up the sizes using 3D glue gel, to give dimension, and attached them to the card using 3D glue gel, cutting them to fit the card. I then added the painted Hummingbird. I stamped the sentiment onto some painted card, with Versamark, and heat embossed it with Wow Primary Parma Velvet.

I am hosting an Inky Workshop in Warwick, on Sunday July 22nd, for more details contact me by email: [email protected]

Many thanks for popping in.
Hugs, Pauline xxxx

This is such a stunning card Pauline..  I adore it, thank you! ♡

The hummingbird looks amazing, the flowers look fabulous, and the strobes stencil really brings the gorgeous background to life!

Beautiful, Imperfect and Quirky

Hello! We are so sorry for neglecting our blog of late! Life has been a little crazy recently, and the boiling hot weather hasn’t helped matters, but we are back and we will be catching up with all the latest Design Team projects all this week. We have also been working on our next release which is coming very soon!!! We’re very excited about it! More details soon!

On to today’s inspiration.. Lisa Taggart is here with an amazing tag featuring our gorgeous hummingbird stamp…

Hello! Well goodness me summer has arrived! What better stamp to use on this glorious day than our firm favourite.. the hummingbird from Visible Image!

Today’s project is an mdf tag. I’ve used Amsterdam acrylic basics paints; pens in black and white and a little Amsterdam black acrylic ink. The image and sentiment were stamped using black versa fine ink.

Here are the products used:

Life is Beautiful stamp set

Count Me In stencil

Collision stencil

Stop Meshing Around stencil

part of a sentiment from Voices In Your Head stamp set

I began the project by painting the tag with white gesso and creating a background using the number stencil and a range of acrylic colours sponged through the stencil.

I blanked out a space in the middle in white using the collision stencil. Then using a stamping platform I stamped the bird on top of this area. I painted the whole area of the image in white just leaving the outline and then coloured areas on top using acrylic paint. When the paint was dry I used the platform  to stamp back the detail on top of the colour. I then highlighted parts using a white gel pen.

I used the circle accent stamps from the set lining them up with the lines of the collision stencil.

Around the edges I continued to stencil using both the mesh and number stencils and a range of acrylic colours including white.

I masked the bird and added black splatters Down one side of the tag.

Finally I stamped and cut out the sentiments and doodled around the edges to mirror the shape of the top of the tag.

Hope you have a lovely day!

Wow this is amazing Lisa! Just look at all that delicious texture and vibrant colour! Thank you ♡

Happy Birthday Helen!

Hello! Wow isn’t it hot here in the UK at the moment! We really aren’t used to weather like this! I hope you are managing to stay cool somehow. We have loads of fabulous Design Team projects to share with you and we kick off the week with a really gorgeous card, made for me (Helen), by the very lovely Jane Tyrrell featuring our stunning hummingbird stamp…

Happy Monday all…. phew what amazing weather we enjoyed over the weekend, it is like being abroad. The temperatures are set to get even higher this week too! I enjoyed some crafting and gardening time… keeping in the shade after lunch as it got so hot.

Today I can finally share a Birthday card I made for someone very special…. no guesses as to who it is….

Yes none other than the lovely Mrs Visible Image aka Helen. Helen celebrated her special day last week. I made an alcohol ink background using lots of pinks and purples on Yupo paper.

I then stamped the fab Hummingbird stamp from the Life is Beautiful stamp set

I stamped out Helen’s name using alphabetical

alphabet stamps - visible image

and also ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Go to Words stamp set

sentiment stamps - every day - visible image

I cut out the letters and words and added thin satin ribbons. I then added them to my card with foam tape for dimension.

Here are some close ups…

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments. Long may this glorious weather continue… even though I am not sure my garden would agree!

Keep cool and carry on crafting.

Bye for now,

Jane x

Thank you so much Jane.. I adore your card! Such a fabulous idea for the hummingbird to be swooping in with your Birthday wish! Your background is stunning.. and even more so in real life I have to say ♡
