Mixed Media Christmas Card | Visible Image

Hi! We have Heather here on the blog this morning with a gorgeous mixed media Christmas card featuring stamps from our awesome ‘Christmas Chaos’ stamp set…

Hello everyone,

I’m here today sharing a Christmas make for Visible Image.  I’ve used the fabulous Christmas Chaos and the Christmas Backgrounds sets which are just brilliant especially if you like grungy makes like I do!

mixed media Christmas card

I kept the background for this card nice and simple, using Distress Oxide’s to create a traditional coloured background to which I added Paperartsy’s Infusions to give a little more depth and then spritzed with some shimmer spray for some glitz.

For the Tree, I coloured some card using Distress Oxide’s again and then heat embossed the beautiful Christmas text using Wow’s Metallic Gold powder to give a rich, warm colour.  Over this I stamped the tree outline from the Christmas Chaos set and fussy cut it out.

I’ve heat embossed the star image three times onto gold card and trimmed two and then trimmed just the star.

After adding foam dots to one of the images and to the trimmed star (so I can layer it up over the top of the tree) I’ve popped this to one side to add some dyed cheesecloth.

The cheesecloth was dyed using Distress Spray Stain and I used the Candied Apple red to match the background of the card. I didn’t want it to stand out too much, just provide a hint of texture under the tree.

The cheesecloth has been glued into place and then the tree added over the top with foam dots behind it.  I added two dots stacked together in the middle of the tree and just one on the outer edges as I wanted a curved look rather than just a flat finish.

For the sentiment, I ripped two sections of vellum and stamped on the top one before stapling it in place and winding round some twine.  This was them matted onto gold card (same card as I stamped the stars onto) and adhered to a card blank.

Fairly simple card for me and it’s a traditional card with a modern edge, if you get me.

Here are the gorgeous Visible Image stamps I’ve used for this make…

One Kind Word | You Are Loved

Good Evening! Ericka Strange is here on the blog today with an amazing card featuring the typewriter stamp and sentiment from our ‘One Kind Word’ stamp set…

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m playing with some alcohol ink and the One Kind Word set from Visible Image. The sentiments in this set are awesome and I love how some of them fit in the typewriter paper.

cardsideways

typewriter rubber stamp

I started my card by using a background I had previously made with alcohol ink. I love making backgrounds and have a huge stash and thought this one with the rainbow of colors would go perfectly. I wanted some gold accents on the background, so I used Deco Foil Liquid adhesive and applied gold foil to it which added some beautiful gold lines.

cardmaking

I stamped the sentiment on vellum with Versamark ink and gold embossed it. Originally, I had stamped the typewriter image on the background with Versafine ink and clear heat embossed it. I felt that the detail of the stamp got lost in the busy background, so instead, I stamped the image on some white paper with Versafine ink and clear heat embossed it. I also added the “You Are Loved” in Versamark ink and gold embossed it to match the sentiment above.

sideclose

I fussy cut out the typewriter image and used foam tape to adhere it to my background over my stamped image. This helped the typewriter stand out and also gave the card more dimension.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a chance to spread some kindness today!

Wow what an incredible background! The touches of gold look so striking against the vivid colours. Loving the sentiment embossed onto velum too! Thank you Ericka

Art Rebel | Cards for Men

Good Evening! Lynda Hall is here on the blog this evening with a brilliant card featuring our ‘Art Rebel’ stamps…

My three month stint as a guest designer for Visible Image came to an end in August, but I am delighted to be able to say that they have invited me to create as a member of the main DT. An offer like that I simply could not refuse as I have had the BEST time over the last few months using their amazing stamps and stencils. What an honour!

So, here is the first project of my new term. I am really feeling vibrant colours at the moment and the brilliantly quirky Art Rebel just lent himself to some neons. He’s so much fun don’t you think?

cards for men | masculine stamps

Here are my steps:

I stamped the main image onto a mop up piece of card and used Amsterdam acrylic ink to paint the glasses. When that was dry I used a mask to stamp on top of them.

I used Dylusions spray ink and Versafine Clair to create a background, along with Count Me In stencil.

Once dry, I stamped and coloured areas with Posca pens.

>

I used acrylic ink on card to make mounts for the focal image, and stamped out the sentiment from The World Needs Art set to finish.

Thanks for popping by. I’ll be back with more projects soon.

Memories Tell Our Story | Guardian Angel Stamp

Hello! We have Stempelfrida here on the blog today with a gorgeous card featuring our Guardian Angel stamp with our beautiful ‘Special Memories’ sentiment…

It is with great pleasure to show you this card today. Because, …..after my 3-month guest design time at Visible Image I was invited to join the main design team, hooray!!!!!!! From today on I will have a “Visible Wednesday” every other Wednesday for you, so to speak 🙂

special memories sentiment stamp - guardian angel

I made the background for my card with the Gelli Plate and the Fibres stencil from Visible Image. In the middle it looks like there is no colour, but this is a trick: I used white acrylic paint there. It creates, for example, space for the text that I stamped with Versamark on it and embossed in black.

I stamped the angel from the set guardian angel with Memento and coloured it with Copics. Then I cut it out by hand. I did the same with the leaves. The drops on the leaves are Glossy Accents. On my background I added a few drops with Nuvo Drops. Some of them are translucent. At the edges I have torn off my background. The white dots on the card base are made with a marker.

A Little Bit of Faerie Magic | Fairy Stamp

Good Morning! Lisa Taggart is bringing some magic to the blog today with a stunning project featuring our gorgeous fairy stamp..

Hello my friends, today I have some Faerie Magic for you Visible Image style! And what a versatile and magical set it is!

fairy stamp - fairy card

fairy stamp - faerie magic - rubber stamp

There are so many gorgeous elements to this fairy stamp set, I felt it could totally be used as a stand alone set.

To create the background no magical scene would be complete without a bit of sparkle. I combined some spectrum noir sparkle ink with an aqua and white mica spray on to white stamping card.

I stamped the fairy stamp and some of the elements on top of the background. Then on to a similarly inked piece of scrap I stamped the faerie, wings and circles for cutting and layering on top.

Once the elements were cut out and paper pieced on top I added the colouring finishing touches using watercolour and paint pens. I used a white gel pen to create highlights and a little watered down white gesso around the circle orbs to create the impression of light. Using the craft knife I inserted a couple of slots either side of the main image to glue in the wings and then stamped the sentiment.

The art work was mounted and a few glitter highlights added.

The close ups:

I hope you like it!

Lisa this is stunning! The depth of colour and the sparkle are incredible! Perfect for our faerie! Thank you ♡

Tree of Life Stamp | Handmade Card

Hello! So sorry we have been neglecting our blog lately.. but we are back and we have loads of gorgeous inspiration to share with you from our amazing Design Team and wonderful guest designers! Pauline Butcher is up first, to inspire you with a fabulous card featuring our Tree of Life stamps…

Hi there,

I’m sharing a new creation I’ve made using a couple of awesome ‘Visible Image’ Stamps.

tree of life stamp

The stamps I have used are:

Tree of Life

tree of life - stamp

and the sentiment from Just Breathe.

anatomy stamp - breathe

I started with some black card, on which I stamped and heat embossed the tree with Wow Fluorescent Green Embossing Powder. I then stamped and heat embossed the smaller leaf from the set, with clear embossing powder.

Using a white pencil, I scribbled the ground around the tree, and gently shaded a moon behind the tree. Using a Glitter Pen, I coloured in the tree leaves, and added touches of glitter to the other leaves.

I had a piece of card left over from a session doing the shaving foam technique, and stamped the human figure twice onto it, and fussy cut them. I then stamped two more, one on blue card and one on pink card, and again fussy cut them.

I finished it off with the sentiment, stamped and heat embossed in black powder, then added some Stickles for that bit of sparkle!

Hugs, Pauline xxxx

Wow what an awesome card Pauline! Your embossed leaves look stunning and the figures look so striking in those vibrant tones! Thank you ♡

Good Morning

Today’s project showcases the  Mindful Moments stamp set. I decided to be use the summer sunshine and enjoyment of sandy beach holidays for my inspiration.
What is better than the sun shining at the seaside?

We will be back here in September and I can sit and be mindful of the blessings I have in my life.

Our beloved Rhodes..

This is the fab set which has lots of great accessory stamps and sentiments to use both for cards, tags, mixed media and journalling.

mindfulness - stamps - meditation - yoga - let go - calm

I also used one of the sentiments from the Look Forward with Hope stamp set

Hope - sentiment stamps - inspiring quotes

I used PaperArtsy infusions to create my background and then stamped the sentiment.

I added some mustard seed Oxide ink to tone things down a little

and stamped the sun into the corner.

I used the oxide to colour the centre of the sun

I die cut an ornate frame in gold

Next I stamped the main image and some of the flowers onto acetate coloured with alcohol inks and cut them out.

I also stamped “let go” onto yellow vellum

Then it was time to put everything together.

Here is my finished card…

Through The Storm | Handmade Card

Hello! Guest Designer Lynda Hall is here on the blog today with a gorgeous card featuring one of our newer sentiments, written by Helen, called ‘You’ll get through this storm’…

Wow it’s just come across really stormy here in Hampshire this afternoon and the heavens have opened. A perfect moment to be sharing this card for Visible Image.

you'll get through this storm - card

I created this from a mop up card that I had from a previous project, using Amsterdam acrylic ink. The combination of blues and greys just screamed ‘sea’ to me.

I used the ‘strobes’ stencil and swiped some gesso through it to give a white base for some rays of sunshine.

I swiped yellow and orange paint over the top when dry, and stamped and heat embossed the sun from the ‘Look Forward With Hope’ set in the centre.

I stamped some clouds from the same set, and painted with acrylic ink. For this I used my stamping platform, as once I had painted I wanted to re stamp the detail over the top.

I added some waves with paint to create the stormy sea.

The final step was to stamp the sentiment  and fussy cut some paper boats from the ‘Destination Unknown’ set and pop them in the sea to bob about.

I added the rest of the sentiment inside the card.

inspiring quote stamp

As if by magic as I uploaded the final image here , the rain stopped, the clouds lifted and the sun came out. How bizare is that!

Products Used:

strobes - rays - stencil

hope - sentiment stamps - inspiring words

paper boats - stamps - planes - destination - journey

I’ll be back soon with more Visible Image inspiration for you.

Those Who Have Seen Her | Fairy Stamp | Visible Image

Hello! Ericka is here this evening with an amazing card featuring our Faerie Magic stamps on an incredible alcohol inks background…

Happy Wednesday! This weekend I played with this beautiful set from Visible Image called Faerie Magic. I love this faerie and played around with stamping her to give her a shimmery look.

fairy stamp | card

To start off, I stamped the faerie image on Bristol Smooth paper because I wanted to use my Zig markers to color her. I masked off her face and used Verafine ink in my MISTI so that only her face was in dark ink since I wanted that it to stand out.

I then used Versamark ink and stamped the rest of the image and heat embossed it with Emerald Creek ‘Kiss the Fairy’ Embossing powder that has a beautiful pink shine to it. I love using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to watercolor and used the following colors for my faerie: Dark Pink 027, Pink 025, Flesh Colour 071, Blush 069, Cobalt Blue 031, Light Blue 036, and Lemon Yellow 051. I love how easily these pens blend together to make interesting color combinations.

After cutting the faerie out, I made the background using Yupo paper and alcohol inks. Originally my plan was to make a soft pink and blue background, but as you can see, I got a little carried away with the colors. I used Pink Sherbet, Aqua, Turquoise, and Tranquil Alcohol inks.  I also stamped the faerie image and heat embossed it with the same powder so that I would have some of the details I cut away from my image. I added gold foil at the end mainly because it’s a faerie and gold foil goes with everything lol.

fairy stamp

I heat embossed her wings on vellum with the same embossing powder so they would be translucent. I then used foam tape to adhere the faerie and wings on to the alcohol ink background. I stamped the sentiment on vellum with Versfine ink and clear heat embossed that as well.

fairy stamp | alcohol inks | yupo paper

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Wow Ericka our Faerie stamp looks incredible, and your background is stunning! We really like how you only stamped her face and shoulder in black.. and what a brilliant name for an embossing powder “kiss the fairy”!! Loving that lime green against the pink too. Thank you

Sometimes It’s OK to not be OK!

Hi there! Martha is here the blog with a gorgeous art journal page featuring the beautiful yoga stamp from our ‘Mindful Moments’ set, and a sentiment we all need to remember.. (sometimes) it’s OK to not be OK…

For my art journal page I chose as focal image this stamp from the ‘MINDFUL MOMENTS’ set

Yoga - Meditation - stamp - mindfulness

All the white space inside the body invites to fill with whatever my mood inspire, and so this time I follow the slight balance between the feeling to be a little bit broken inside and the search of peace

Here is the process video

Just Be Happy | Flowers & Butterflies | Stamps

Hi there! We have our lovely Guest Designer Macarena here tonight with a gorgeous card she made me (Helen) for my Birthday! This beautiful textured card features our stunning ‘Creative Chaos’ inky flower stamp with our ‘Just Be Happy’ sentiment…

This is another project for Visible Image GDT.
Besides it’s made especially for a lovely lady’s B-day.

just be happy - sentiment stamp - flower

I made this textured background using the ‘Butterfly Ink’ stencil
and my fave Nuvo Expanding Mousse which makes amazing job
when heated up untill bubbles. Love this texture.

Then I stamped some circles from ‘Live In The Moment’ set
and applied my another fave product: Stampendous Enamel Powder.
Love the results it gives, thick and a bit industrial/steampunk.
I also added it to some edge parts of the butterfly wings.
Then I stamped speckles from the ‘Just Breathe’ stamp set.

The rest was just a composition of my focal point.
I decided to add some vibrant colors to this shady background.
I really like the final effect and hope she’ll like it too 🙂

Fairy Card | Visible Image Stamps

Hello! Heather Mitchell is here on the blog this evening with an amazing fairy card featuring our gorgeous Faerie Magic stamps…

Hello and happy Monday to you all…

I hope my make today provides a little inspiration for you.

fairy card

The Faerie Magic set is just adorable.  The main faerie stamp is fabulous but you also get all those little stamps which will be so handy on other projects.

When I get new stamps, I often just sit staring at it for a while to get the feel of it and see if inspiration pings me in the face.  I’d already made a couple of cards when I came up with this idea of having her half off the card with her wings all sparkly and floaty.  Unfortunately, I got totally immersed in the making and forgot to take step-by-step photos so for that I apologise… but I’ll talk you through it!

To start, trim some watercolour card to your chosen size and stamp the lovely lady using a Versamark embossing pad and Wow’s Ebony Supafine embossing powder.  Use a scalpel to trim around her top half and then stamp her again on some scrap paper to create a mask.  Fold the card in half and use low-tack masking tape to adhere the mask in place over her bottom half.

Using Distress Oxide ink pads (I used Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves) blend the three colours together and place the Collision stencil over the masked image and the bottom of the card.  Again, using the oxide ink pads (this time I used Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire) blend over the pink hues, taking care around the mask before peeling away the mask and the stencil to reveal the flashes of colour.

Add some splatters of gold ink before colouring the faerie and her bubbles!  Stamp some extra ‘bubbles’ in a mid-grey tone down the right of the card and then the stars and moon stamps in clusters before adding sparkle Stickles to the moon and stars and Wink of Stellar and glossy accents to the bubbles on the faerie.

The faerie’s wings were heat embossed on vellum using Wow’s ‘Vanilla Sparkle Glitter and then adhered to a thick-ish acetate before trimming and securing into place.  To finish, brush the card with an anti-static bag (as I found the embossing powder stuck like glue in places) and stamp the sentiment using the same Vanilla Sparkle Glitter as before.

And there you go!

Here’s the two Visible Image products I used for this make…

Fairy stamp - wings - bubbles

Collision - stencil - string - rays

You’ll find lots of daily inspiration over in the Visible Image Facebook group, so pop on in, say hello (we’re a very friendly crew!) and share some of your makes!

Catch up again soon… H xx

This is such an awesome fairy card Heather! We love how our Faerie is rising up above the card, all powerful and magical, and her wings look fabulous! Thank you ♡

Today I Choose Calm | Fauxdori | Art Journal

Hi there! We have our fabulous Guest Designer Giovanna (giogiocraft)  here today with such an inspiring project featuring our Mindful Moments stamps…

Recently I found in my mail box the new stamps by Visible Image: I had to play with them straight away. And I also tested, eventually, the stamp platform by Tim Holtz. Can you live without it? Of course, but…. it’s a totally new way of stamping, and there’s are lot of pros using it.

I created from scratch two faux-dori and I had some serious fun using alcohol inks on photo paper: I was in awe. Ok it is a mess, and you need gloves but the result is fantastic, and you get such vibrant colours, process photos at the bottom of this post.

Guardian Angel Stamp | Mixed Media Card

Hello! We hope you had a lovely weekend. Lisa Taggart is kicking off this week’s inspiration with an incredible project featuring our Guardian Angel stamp…

Hi my friends, I’m back today with more fun using the Visible Image June release stamps.

I love fiddling about with light in my pictures and the Guardian Angel stamp set really inspired me.

For this creation white Gesso was my best friend! I’ve also used ink sprays and pads and as usual white gel pen and diamond stickles. Oh and also my favourite iridescent gold paint from Golden. It’s great for stamping!

I really enjoyed playing with gesso against the strong colours. I love this stamp set and am looking forward to using it for Halloween!

Have a lovely day!

Till next time…

What an amazing way to use our Guardian Angel stamp Lisa.. your light is stunning, and the gold looks wonderful against your gorgeous background! Thank you ♡

Look Forward With Hope | Handmade Card

Hello! Sorry we have neglected our blog lately, the last few weeks have been a challenge as I (Helen) had a nasty fall and have been in quite a lot of pain. So… as we have lots of inspiration to catch up with here on the blog, we are planning lots of posts over the next few days sharing the latest cards and projects from our fabulous Design Team and our wonderful guest designers! Jane Tyrrell is kicking things off with a gorgeous card that would brighten anyone’s spirits, it has definitely brightened mine! As I have now started a programme of physiotherapy, I will look forward with hope to being pain free again! Over to Jane…

Good Evening,

Today I have used one of the 3 lovely new sentiment sets. This one is called Look Forward with Hope. So many really positive sentiments, suitable for all occasions.

positive - quote - stamps - sentiment - rubber

I decided I wanted to make a seaside feel card. I added some distress oxides to speciality stamping card and then added some “sea” using paints.

I then added fossilized amber distress oxide ink through the Strobes stencil

rays - strobes - stencil

I decided I wanted more texture so I added texture paste through the strobes stencil in the same area. When dry I found that the sunshine in the set fitted perfectly inside. I also added some Glossy accents to the sun which you can see in the final photos.

I stamped some of the clouds directly onto the crackle and others I stamped onto card and fussy cut out.

I then stamped and coloured one of the sweet dolphins from the Mythical Mermaid stamp set

mermaid stamp

and fussy cut him out. I added a little sheen with Spectrum Noir sparkle.

I also stamped some waves using the stamp in the mermaid set. I then stamped the ‘don’t look back’ sentiment from the set, added the dolphin, a little white ink highlighting and my card was finished..

look forward - hope - card - rubber stamp

A couple of close ups…

And one final shot.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

What a stunning card Jane! The crackle looks fantastic through the rays of sunshine, and your scene is fabulous! Thank you ♡

It’s ok to not be ok | Card

Hi there! Veerle Moreels is here this evening with a beautiful heartfelt card which would be perfect for anyone going through a tough time…

Mixed media on a card…why not?  And even though I made this project in the shape of a card it’s also a possibility to turn it into an art journal page.

Either way you choose to have a go at, be it a little reminder for yourself, or for it to be a bit positive reinforcement for anyone who needs it, have a go as these words should be out there… It is okay to not be okay. We are humans, no heroes. Well sometimes we are a hero but I think it’s safe to say we are no heroes 24/7 and no one is, not even our heroes.

I Choose Calm – Mindfulness Stamps

Hello! Pauline Butcher is here on the blog today with a beautiful card featuring our ‘Mindful Moments’ stamps, which includes our yoga lotus position image…

It’s my turn to share a card I’ve made using some stunning Visible Image stamps sets.

yoga card - mindfulness - stamps

The stamps I have used on this card are:

Mindful Moments

yoga stamp - lotus position - Mindfulness

and Into the Woods

tree stamp - woods - forest - stay grounded

My background was achieved by putting a couple of blobs of Mustard Seed Oxide re-inker onto my mat, spritzed some water on it, and then taking my card I gently picked up some colour, then dryed it. I did this a couple of times until I had got enough ink on my card, leaving some white space. I repeated this using Ripe Persimmon, and again with Worn Lipstick. (You could always use the Oxide ink pads to do this technique if you haven’t got the re-inkers).

Onto this background, I stamped my trees using Versafine Onyx Black, then ‘grounded’ the trees with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. Using a small ball tool, I blobbed some acrylic paint over the largest tree, to make blossom.

On another piece of card, I blended some Mustard Seed Distress Ink, flicking water on it, and dabbing off with kitchen towel (called faux bleaching). Onto this card I stamped the Yoga Lady, the ohm symbol and the sentiment, and fussy cut them. I attached all the elements onto the card using 3D glue gel. When it was dry, I added some areas with a Quickie Glue Pen, and rubbed some gold gilding sheet over the top, then added some Stardust Stickles for that finishing touch.

Hugs,
Pauline xxxxx

Trust Your Madness | Quirky Card

Hi there! We have Lynda Hall on the blog today with a bright and quirky card featuring our ‘Trust Your Madness’ sentiment stamp…

Good Morning!

Today I am sharing a card I’ve made using the great Stay Weird stamp set. I wanted to create a simple yet funky card so opted for bright acrylic ink and distress ink, and created my background using the Geometric Maze stencil.

By masking off the wording around the little face in the centre of the sentiment stamp I was able to create lots of little embellishments- or people lost in the maze of madness!

To finish I added the sentiment stamp to bright yellow card and simply mat and layered to create a really fun finished piece that pops!

Products Used:

Have a good weekend!

Art Has No Rules | Mixed Media Card

Hello! We have Lisa Taggart here on the blog today with an incredible mixed media card featuring our amazing Creative Chaos flower stamp…

Hello lovely friends today I thought I would share another project using some very Inspiring stamp sets from Visible Image. There’s lots of stamping, a little paper piecing and some background fun using Acrylic paint and crackle mediums.

inky flower stamp | mixed media card

I’ve used the following stamp sets:

quirky flower stamps

This is the scrap I used to begin. I then added texture by brayering further layers of acrylic paint.

I then added crackle mediums and more ink including ink splatters.

I began the stamping using elements from across the sets.

I also stamped on to scrap card to colour and cut out later.

I layered up the elements placing three of the flower images together to create a larger flower. I also added some doodling using white and gold gel pens and added the sentiment.

Lisa xx

Wow! An incredible project Lisa.. we are drooling over all that crackle and texture!! Love how you used the flower too, making it bloom.. thank you ♡

You’ll Get Through This Storm | Sentiment Stamp

Hi there! Sharon Traynor is here with such a gorgeous and very clever card today featuring one of the uplifting sentiment stamps from our NEW ‘Look Forward With Hope’ stamp set…

you'll get through this storm - sentiment stamp

Well, I hope you have sunshine and not rain storms wherever you live. However, as soon as I saw the cloud and sentiment stamps in this Look Forward With Hope brand new stamp set by Visible Image I knew I wanted to make a card where beads move up and down threads like raindrops.

I’ve seen these cards around the internet and thought I would try to make one. I don’t know if I have made it correctly….but this is my take.

First blend some distress inks onto white card. Add the time tunnel stencil (my favourite!) on the top and blend though it with broken china distress ink. Move the stencil and blend again so that you have 2 swirls.

spiral stencil

Add a little iced spruce through the cosmic skies stencil.

galaxy sky stencil

Then stamp a few of the clouds with broken china ink.

Cut the panel to size, then add layers of shaker tape as shown below. Sandwich threads, with beads on them, between the layers of shaker tape, making sure that the beads can move freely.

TIP: Once the threads were in place I dusted the sides of the shaker tape with baby powder. This makes sure that there are no sticky patches on the sides.

Cut a white ‘frame’ panel for the front of the card and adhere it to the background. Heat emboss the central sentiment panel in silver embossing powder and attach that too. Attach the whole thing to a card blank.

On the inside stamp the sentiment and the image

Products Used:

sentiment stamps - uplifting - positive

  spiral stencil

  galaxy sky stencil

Other Supplies:

Distress Oxide Inks (tumbled glass, broken china, iced spruce), Prism inks (canary yellow, orange zest), Versafine onyx black, Versamark clear, WOW! metallic silver embossing powder, shaker foam tape, thread, silver beads, white card, baby powder

That’s it from me for now. Thanks for stopping by and I really hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Faerie Stamp | Magical Card | Oxide Inks

Hello! Jane Tyrrell is here on the blog this evening to spread a little magic with a stunning card featuring our Faerie stamp…

Good Evening, I am here with my weekly design team inspiration for Visible Image featuring the NEW Faerie Magic stamp set.

I love this new fairy, she is so different to any other fairy in the stamping world.

fairy stamp - faerie - rubber - clear

Inspired by the colours of my foxgloves in the garden, this is what I got up to..

I blended mermaid lagoon, salty ocean and picked raspberry distress oxides onto card, added water and allowed it to run. When dry I turned it around so that it looked like a magical mist.

I fixed it into my Misti stamp press and stamped the main fairy image first. I then stamped another image roughly onto copy paper, cut around the arms and placed this on top as a mask so that I could stamp the wings.

I gold embossed the wings and then added some white pen and a some colour. I also added some sparkle with my glitter pens. I stamped the sentiment and her “spell” circle.

I added some extra sparkle to the wings and bubbles using Wink of stella

and to finish off, I added Glossy Accents (my most used embellishment) to the bubbles.

Here she is..

Breathe | Flowers | Thorax Stamp

Hello! Lisa Taggart is here on our blog this evening with an absolutely stunning project featuring our NEW thorax anatomy stamp  and.. yes… flowers!

Hello lovelies !! I’m back from my hols and itching to get creative again. And yes I’ve finally got my hands on the Visible Image June 2019 new release stamps and what stunning beauties they are!

The first new set I’ve gone for is certainly one for Halloween, but it can be used in other ways too.

Just Breathe

anatomy stamp - ribs - breathe

I’ve created an mdf tag.. combined the set with some old favourites for a more uplifting 3D design.

mixed media mdd tag - Visible Image stamps

flower stamps - background

Ahead of our Time

time stamps - spiral - dr who - clockwork orange

Cosmic Skies stencil

cosmic skies stencil

The steps:

Using watercolour card from Crafters Companion and Jane Davenport watercolours and a water spritzer I created a background.

Next I coloured a separate small piece of watercolour card and stamped the main stamp on to scrap card. I then cut out a mask shape for the top half of the chest cavity.

Taking the smallest flower stamps from the ‘create it’ set I heat embossed them in white randomly on to the painted card. Using the mask, I drew around it on top of the embossed flowers and cut out the shape. I then coloured the flowers using posca paint pens.

I adhered the first background on to an MDT tag. I then stencilled gold paint on top through the stencil and then stuck down the flower panel. Finally I used the mask to cover the flowers and added black splatters using black acrylic ink.

I used three small stamps for the background: the leaves from the ‘create it’set; the birds from the ‘ahead of our time’ set and the ink dots from ‘just breathe’. After the first layer I hand drew lines in white and fluorescent yellow and softened using well diluted white gesso. I hoped to depict sun or energy rays! After this I stamped the birds again on top and highlighted some of them in white gel pen.

I stamped and heat embossed in white some more flowers. I coloured them, cut them out and shaped them.

I stamped the chest and removed the areas showing the back bones using a craft knife. I coloured this and cut it out.

I adhered the loose flowers on top of the flat flower vase and then assembled the chest bones on top. This was slightly domed and adhered down the sides only. I also stuck flowers between the bones and down the rest of the background.

Finally I stamped the sentiment and stuck the tag to its base which was also painted. I edged the whole thing using dark ink.

Here’s a short video for close ups.

It’s a bit different that’s for sure!

Lisa xx

Lisa this is amazing! The ribs look superb fussy cut and coloured.. and the flowers totally transform it! Gorgeous work.. thank you ♡

Fire Faerie | Magical Card

Hello! We are very excited to welcome Lynda Hall to the blog today with her debut post as a Guest Designer! Lynda has created a fabulous magical card with our NEW Faerie stamp…

I absolutely adore faeries and all things magical, so was totally blown away when I saw the Faerie Magic stamp set from Visible Image. I may have squealed a little when she fluttered onto my doormat!

My youngest daughter used to be obsessed by a series of books about fairies where every one had a different power. As soon as I saw this gorgeous lady she just screamed Fire Faerie to me so I wanted to create a card that left no doubt as to her magical abilities.

fairy stamp | Faerie Magic | Visible Image

I started by stamping her using the red and yellow pads from a Kaleidacolour ink pad.

She needed her wings of course, so I created a mask from copy paper and stamped them into position .

To create the fire I carefully inked just her hair section and stamped it twice, rotating the stamp to make a flame shape.

I then coloured the image with my watercolour pens before inking up a background using the mask to protect her, and applying distress inks. To keep the  small bubbles clean I used masking fluid.  I kept the area surrounding the faerie light with orange and yellow tones, blending into pinks and purples to reflect the light from her fire.

Once happy with the depth of the colours on the background I splattered water with a fan brush and stamped out some of the small elements to make a magical night sky before stamping and heat embossing the sentiment stamps.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece. I have several more ideas for her yet , and I’ll also be back soon with more projects using the new release stamps so do watch this space!

Lynda

Guardian Angel Stamp | Mixed Media Card

Hi there! Heather Mitchell is here on the blog today with a fantastic mixed media card created with our NEW Guardian Angel stamp set and lots of gorgeous texture…

Hello…

Today I’m using the new Guardian Angel stamp set… which kind of reminds me of the statue’s out of Dr Who.  No?  Just me then! Haha…

I love this stamp set, it’s so unusual and quirky and not like anything else on the market and I love that about Visible Image products… all that little bit different from everything else.

Anyway, to start this card I cut up a poster I bought from Paperchase that had an old New York map on it, adhered it to card and used a brayer to apply Gesso.

Using Distress Oxide ink pads in Dusky Concord, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire I’ve added stripes of colour before spritzing with water to give a mottled effect.  For more texture, I then splattered black and silver ink before drying.

After much procrastination, I decided to add the Strobes stencil using a large die cut circle.  I wanted a graduated colour so used Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink pad on the centre of the circle, then Hickory Smoke before a light coat of Black Soot.  Looking at it, I felt it needed some light so went around the outside (over the black) using Scattered Straw and while the stencil was still in place I spritzed on gold Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

To add some interest to the outskirts of the card, I’ve stamped on the little bubble stamp (which I know will be used so much on other projects so thank you Mark for the little background stamps you add to sets!)

I don’t know if it shows up in the photo but the bubbles have been graduated in colour from Ice Spruce at the top to Hickory Smoke in the middle to Black Soot down the bottom.  I’ve used the die cut circle from before as a mask.

The Angel itself was heat embossed using Versamark and Wow’s! British Summertime which is a fabulous opaque grey.

Derwent’s Inktense pencils have been used to add colour.  I love the smooth application of them and the colours are so beautiful.  I opted for the same palette of colours so it echoed the background.

With the Angel and the wings all colours, it was time to start layering up the card.  Having fussy cut the Angel, I added gold wire to the rear to break up the image.  Using foam tape on the wings and the main image, I’ve given the Guardian Angel some dimension and I think looks a bit more dramatic.

For the finishing touches, I’ve stamped, coloured and trimmed the feathers and the dove and secured them to the card (some have foam dots added, some don’t).

To lighten the mood of the card, I’ve heat embossed the sentiment using Wow’s Opaque Bright White powder (this really is the best powder on the entire planet!)

It was then just a matter of adding glossy accent to some of the bubbles and on the dove and crackle accent to the feathers before placing to one side to dry thoroughly.

Here’s some of the products I’ve used… not all as I couldn’t fit them in the picture!

And here’s the Visible Image products I’ve used for this card…

And that’s it for today.  Hope you love the new stamp releases as much as I do. Mark has designed them all in the usual, slightly off the beaten track, Visible Image style and Helen has done an amazing job on the sentiments. They are already super popular.. as always!

Hope to catch up again soon… H x

Rainbow Faerie | CAS Card

Hello! We are so sorry our blog has been neglected over the past week, we received an overwhelming number of orders for our June stamps release, so it has been rather crazy here! So, Sharon Traynor is back, a little later than promised, with her second card featuring our NEW Faerie Magic stamps…

Well, here I am back again today with another card using the wonderful Faerie Magic stamps from Visible Image. This time it is a CAS design which was very simple to make.

fairy stamp - rainbow - card

Here’s how I made this rainbow fairy card:

Stamp the image onto water colour paper using Versamark ink

fairy stamp - Visible Image

Colour the fairy with Zig Clean Color Real Brushes and a water Brush

Cut out some arcs from a rainbow of coloured card using a curved die. Secure the die cuts at one end by gluing on top of one another and spreading them out to be adjacent at the other end.

Create watercoloured rainbow mats (for both the main image and the sentiment). Stamp the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black.

Mount all onto a card blank using fun foam and foam pads.

Simple, Fast and Beautiful!

Stamps Used:

Other Supplies:

Water Colour Card, Zig Clean Color Real Brushes (024, 028, 031, 048, 051, 061, 080, 220), Derwent fine tip water brush, Sweet Pea Designs Card Front Builder die, fun foam, foam squares, card blank.

That’s it from me for now, thanks for stopping by.

Celestial Fairie – Handmade Card

Hi there! We are really excited to share some magical inspiration today! Sharon is loving our gorgeous new ‘Faerie Magic’ stamp set and has created a fabulous fairy card…

Today is all about Faeries!

First up, a fairy with moving wings (this was such fun to make!).

fairy card - handmade - faerie stamp

I actually have two posts for you …this one is my ‘night’ fairy with moving wings, and tomorrow I will share my rainbow ‘day’ fairy.

I managed to get my hands on some of the new Visible Image stamps that are on pre-order at the moment, to be released on June 22nd, and this beautiful fairy is one of those stamps.

I thought it’d be a good idea to show the wing movement in a short video, so here it is:

Do you want to know how to make this?

Well here are the instructions:

Use a stamping platform to stamp the fairy image onto a watercolour panel and leave the stamp in the platform whilst you add colour to the background. Wet the watercolour paper and use distress stains to make the background, concentrating the darker colour towards the outer edges. As you dry the stains mop up any spare drops from the craft mat and also spritz with water to get some water droplet interest.

When the panel is dry, use the stencil with chipped sapphire ink to add more interest on the outer edges of the water colour panel. Dry the panel completely. Now re-stamp the fairy image on the panel in versamark ink and heat emboss with some gold embossing glitter.

Stamp the stars in versamark ink and heat emboss them in both white and silver embossing powders and stamp some circles in faded jeans distress ink onto the background.

Now add the circles behind the faeries’ hand. Emboss that with midas touch embossing glitter and then colour with a zig fluorescent pen and add a few highlights with a white pen. Go over the zig colouring with an embossing pen and add clear sparkle embossing glitter.

To finish the background panel, swipe versamark ink along the edges, add gold embossing glitter and rough up the edges with your finger before heat embossing. Heat emboss the sentiment in gold embossing glitter and when cooled highlight with a white pen. Colour the small circles around the faerie with a white pen.

Heat emboss the fairy in gold embossing glitter and the wings in silver on white card and fussy cut them out.

Make the mechanism for the moving wings with a small piece of doflex, some white card and 3 small brads.

Attach the wings to the doflex with one brad in the centre, then attach the 2 wings to the background (using the faerie image as a guide) with the other 2 brads. Don’t over tighten the brads or the wings will be too stiff to move. Attach the white card to the bottom of the doflex and write the word pull at the very bottom.

Attach the background with the wing mechanism to some gold card on a card blank. Attach the faerie over the top of the wing mechanism with 2 layers of shaker foam tape, making sure none of the tape will get in the way of the wing movement.

On the inside stamp the sentiment and a few of the stars with gold ink (you can see the inside in the video above).

Stamps and Stencil Used:

fairy stamp

numbers stencil

Other Supplies:

Watercolour card, stamping platform, Versafine Onyx black ink, Water spritzer, Distress stains (tumbled glass, broken china, salty ocean, faded jeans, chipped sapphire), heat gun, Distress Ink (chipped sapphire), blending tool and foam, Versamark clear ink, WOW! Embossing glitters (metallic gold sparkle, midas touch, clear sparkle) , WOW! embossing powders (metallic silver, opaque bright white), Versamarker watermark pen, Posca white pen, Zig clean color real brush (001 Fl.Yellow), Black pen, scrap of doflex, 3 brads, gold card, white card, Encore metallic gold ink (for the inside stamping)  .

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to take a peek at my rainbow fairy tomorrow…

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Hello! Wow what a busy week we’re having, we’re overwhelmed by all the love for our NEW stamps, so thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered so far. Jane Tyrrell is here to inspire you today with the very first card created with our Mythical Mermaid stamps…

A Mermaid’s Tail…

Good Evening,

It’s not a typo in my title, but very apt if you read on. It is a very exciting one for me as I can reveal my very first sample made with June release of Visible Image stamps. There are 9 amazing new sets including sentiments, something for everyone.

I love mermaids and so does my sweet 5 year old granddaughter Daisy. She and are often say that we would like to be mermaids!

I love the seaside, and there is nothing quite like gazing out to sea. This is a photo from one of our Rhodes trips…

I often sit on a rock on the beach and just lose myself in thought… and yes I would love to see a mermaid! No luck so far but I will keep you posted on that one!

In the awesome June release is none other than a mermaid set called ‘Mythical Mermaid’, and I knew that my first sample to make just had to be with her.

mermaid stamp

I decided that I wanted to make up an underwater story to go with the fab sentiment.

I got out my alcohol inks, as these make perfect underwater backgrounds. I used glossy card stock, dripped on the inks and then added more with a felt.

Once dry I die cut a scalloped circle out of one.

I stamped and coloured Miss Mermaid with Zig watercolour markers and cut her out

While I was making some prototype practice mermaids I accidentally cut one of the prongs of the trident off so I removed it… and just look how cute she is stoking one of the dolphins. I will use this idea for a future project. There is nothing like a happy accident is there.

Anyway back to A Mermaid’s Tail.

I stamped just her tail onto acetate coloured with alcohol inks, you will see why later on.

I stamped and coloured the gorgeous dolphin and shells and cut some out.

and also die cut some seaweed and a ships wheel and coloured them with inks.

Then it was time to put my Mermaid’s Tail (Tale) together.. (just indulge me 😉 ).

I used foam pads between the 2 backgrounds so this card has lots of depth to it in real life.

So are you sitting comfortably?

mermaid card - handmade - stamp

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful a mermaid who lived in her shell lined cave at the bottom of the sea. There was always treasures nearby to furnish it with.  Her most recent find was the wheel from a ship wreck, (don’t worry she rescued the Captain… but that’s another story). She often swam up to the surface of the sea and looked out toward the shore in the distance. Sometimes she sat on a rock and gazed out… life looked so different there.

She had a sweet pod of dolphins who loved to visit her and swim with her. One day she decided that it was time to go ashore for ever, to see if she could find her rescued Captain. With one flick of her stunning tail she was almost away..

However she felt the urgent nuzzle of one of her dolphin friends against her tail and a tap with his claw from one of the crabs. She stopped swimming and turned around. She looked down and saw that her dolphin buddy was presenting her a with a gorgeous gold coloured starfish, balanced on the tip of his nose. He told her that she was the Queen of the Ocean, and that all the underwater creatures needed her. He made her feel so special.

At that moment she realised that there was probably far more joy and beauty in her underwater world than she would find on dry land, even though her heart longed for it. Her underwater friends needed and looked up to her.

Everyone, including the crabs (who tapped their claws together in unison) were so delighted that she had not deserted them. The pod of dolphins did a little dance among the shells and the crabs laughed at their antics.

And that the secrets of the ocean were safe… for always.

Here is one last shot…

Thanks for indulging my little daydream.

I am busy making some more samples with these gorgeous new stamp sets… it may be a fairy story next week 😂 No don’t worry you will be safe, one fairy-tale is enough!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Butterfly Stamps | Artist Trading Coins

Hi there! Jane Tyrrell is here to inspire you today with some fabulous Artist Trading Coins featuring our awesome grungy butterfly stamps…

It is time for my Monday Visible Design team inspiration and today I am sharing something that has become a huge pleasure to me over the last few months.. making artist trading coins. I am a member of a Facebook group where we swap our makes. It is such fun seeing other people’s art and sharing mine. A lot of crafters find the idea of making these rather intimidating, so I hope to show in this post that they are quick and fun to make. For those who are not aware of them, artist trading coins are the coin version of artist trading cards (ATCs). Cards are 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and coins are 2 1/2 ” in diameter. They are made to be swapped, never sold, and can be made in limited editions. I tend to make 3 in my editions.

For my coins today I used the gorgeous Wings of Change stamp set:

I used some acrylic inks to make a background and die cut several 2 1/2″ circles. I used 3 of them.
I stamped on the word “transform”first.

I  added glossy accents to some medium butterflies I had stamped onto some left over Brushos inky mop up card.

Once they were dry I cut them out.

I also stamped 2 tiny butterflies directly onto each coin and filled some of the circles on the sentiment with Glossy Accents.

I then stuck on my medium sized butterflies and added a little wilted violet distress ink to finish them off.

Here they are:

coin 1/3

Coin 2/3

and coin 3/3

Here they are together..

and 1 last photo..

Thanks so much for stopping by. I really hope you might feel confident in making and swapping your own artist trading coins.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Eye Collage Stamp | Distress Inks | Visible Image

Hello! We have Pauline back on the blog today with a super stunning card featuring our amazing eye collage stamp called ‘See Everything’…

Hi there,

Today I’m sharing a card I made using the awesome (and very popular) ‘See Everything stamp set from Visible Image.

Get your sunglasses on, because it’s very bright!!!!

I stamped the fabulous stamp, onto some white card, and then stamped it again on another piece of card. I also cut a mask from a post it note, to cover the eye, then coloured my background using Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, blending them onto the card and overlapping them to make six colours. I gently spritzed with a little water, then removed the post it mask which kept the eye nice and white.

Taking the other stamped image, I fussy cut the inside of the eye and then cut around the eye, following the black lines, so there was a border and some circles (you can see it in the photo below). I also cut out some of the larger circles. Next I started to colour, using my Clean Color brush pens, and a white pen.

I also stamped around the edges using Pink Raspberry Oxide ink, and coloured in some of the circles to balance. I stamped both sentiments onto white card, and again blended with the distress inks. I attached all the elements using 3D glue Gel, then added some stickles here and there. Finally I gave it some white eyelashes, and glossy accents over the pupil.

Hugs,
Pauline xxxxx

Birthday Card | Party Dress | Flower Stamp | Visible Image

Hello! We have Sharon Traynor on the blog today with a card that features our gorgeous Creative Chaos flower in a very different way…

Hi!

I’ve made the gorgeous Creative Chaos flower stamp by Visible Image into a party dress!

It’s easy to do, you just turn the paper upside down, stamp it, mask it, stamp it twice more to the outside edges, and place the stems ‘just so’ to make the bodice. The ‘Happy Birthday’ makes a great set of legs too!

Or, as one of my VI team mates pointed out…it could be seen as a fuchsia!

I don’t have a ton of photos to show today as I stamped and coloured this whilst having a crafty day at my friends house.  It was great to use her Zig clean colour real brush pens to water colour the image, and all I needed to do when I got home was to stamp the legs, add some sparkle to the bodice and layer it up onto a card. Needless to say I am hooked on the Zigs and have invested in my own set now.

Hmmmm ….I wonder what other ways this stamp can be creatively used?

Stamps Used:

Other Supplies:

Canston Aquarelle 300gsm/140Lb water colour paper,
Versafine onyx black ink,
Zig clean colour real brushes (light green, turquoise green, blue, deep blue, violet, light blue),
quickie glue pen,
glamour dust,
black and light blue card stock,
fun foam.

That’s it from me for now. Thanks for stopping by and I will be back here soon!

Hugs,
Sharon xx

The World Needs Art | Visible Image

Hello! We have Jane Tyrrell here on the blog this evening with an awesome project featuring lots of our creative quote stamps…

Today I am sharing an accordion card I took to the Crafting at Ally Pally show last month.

I wanted something to show off lots of the latest stamps and quotes, which have been so popular!

My accordion cards features stamps from all these sets:

How I created it:

I used PaperArtsy Fresco paints.

and brayered a background onto 2 A4 sheets of card as I wanted to make 2 masterboards to cut up.

I used these colours of Archival ink

and randomly stamped over the sheets using all the image sets. Here is one of the sheets in progress

I then die cut my accordion card

>

and stamped the 4 World needs art sentiments, 1 on each panel.

I also added some stamps which I yellow embossed

and also stamped and cut out a few images.

I then put everything together…

and some close ups…

After I finished off my card I had some off-cuts. I had a flash of inspiration that I could use them to made Artist trading coins, which I did…

These were all packed ready for taking to the show when I had one last idea. If I attached a badge back to them I could turn them into badges for Helen, Mark and myself to wear at the show!

I quickly ordered some on line and hey presto, one of a kind badges!

which Mark, Helen and I wore at the show!

I really had a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed demoing and meeting so many lovely crafters, new and seasoned!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Back soon.
Bye for now,

Jane x

See What Others Don’t | Visible Image | Eye Collage Stamp

Hi there! Lisa Taggart is here on the blog today with an incredible project featuring our awesome eye collage stamp…

Today I’m using one of my favourites from the last release! ‘See Everything’ It’s GORGEOUS!! And so versatile. Use it as it is, use parts of it, or as I’m doing today, flip it to make a face using the rice paper / tissue paper and Matt gel medium trick! The sentiment set is awesome too!

I also couldn’t resist teaming it up with an old favourite!

To begin I used an inky scrap from my ink mop up pile . I began by adding more texture with ink and water splatters and by highlighting and brightening parts with ink.

I stamped the image down one side and then stamped the top part of the same thing again on to rice paper.

This was then flipped and adhered to the project using matt gel medium.

I then hand drew a nose and eyebrow and stamped the mouth from the other stamp set.

Then the fun part- the colouring. I used Zig clean colour pens. I also covered the eyes and splattered black ink. The sentiment was added to the top left. Gold and white highlights were added using gel pens.

I really enjoyed this project. Hope you have a go.

Till next time..

Lisa x

Eye Rubber Stamp | Rocker Card | Distress Inks

Hi there! We have Jane Tyrrell here on the blog today with a fabulous rocker card featuring lots of our stamps, including our stunning new eye collage stamp..

For this week’s project, I worked with 4 of the new mixed media stamp sets and my colour palette was inspired by all the spring colours around at the moment.

Stamps Used:

I decided to make a rocker card, as I have not made one of these for years and it is a fun card shape. There are lots of tutorials of how to construct the card on the Internet. The circle dies I used to cut the layers and rocker are from The Works.

I stamped the eye image onto card and coloured it with distress inks

then masked it before adding some more distress inks

The background layer is a gelli plate print using the Random Art of Kindness set

I cut the rocker using pink card and then put everything together.

I fussy cut my butterflies which were stamped on pink card, I also added some colour to my focal image using gel pens.

Here are some close ups..

and one last shot..

Thanks for stopping today and enjoy the wonderful fresh colours of spring.

Back soon.

Bye for now,

Metamorphosis | Butterfly Stamps | Visible Image

Hello! Wow it is over a month since we blogged last.. so sorry for neglecting you! Sometimes life just gets in the way and something has to give.. but, we are back and we have so much inspiration to share with you over the coming days and weeks! Pauline Butcher is kicking things off with a gorgeous card featuring our new Butterfly stamps, Visible Image style…

Hellooo,

It’s time for me to share something I’ve created using the Wings of Change stamp set and the Fibres stencil.

My background was a piece of white card, with the brightest colours of Distress re-inkers dripped down it. When it was dry, I placed the Fibres stencil on my background and, using a palette knife, I put Liquitex heavy gel medium through. While it was drying, I stamped the butterflies onto another piece of white card, using Versafine onyx Black ink, fussy cut them, then coloured them with Distress Inks. I then stamped the sentiment onto a piece of pink card, and fussy cut that too.

I blended blue ink over the dry gel medium, to tone the colour down a little, added the butterflies and sentiment using 3D glue gel. To finish, I added some highlights with a white gel pen, and some stickles onto the wings for a touch of sparkle.

Products Used:

Eye Collage Stamp | See Everything | Visible Image

Hello! We hope your week has started well. We are back with more fantastic inspiration here on the blog today. Up first is Sharon Traynor with an incredible card featuring our new eye collage stamp…

When I first set eyes on this brilliant ‘See Everything’ stamp from Visible ImageI immediately saw references to the film  ‘The Matrix’.

Do you know that on 31st March this year it will be 20 years since that film was released?  It really doesn’t feel like 20 years…. until you watch it again and notice how big the PC monitors were back in 1999 and how much phone technology has changed in the last 20 years. It’s still a cracking film though.

eye stamp - see everything

Anyway, how did I make a link to the matrix? Well, those little circles reminded me of the lines of code that descend and sparkle on the computer screens in the film. The lines radiating out from the eye in the centre reminded me of a sort of a scanner, and scanning for Morpheus, Neo, Trinity and other humans was what Agent Smith was doing in the film. The two figures at the bottom of the stamp reminded me that the human race (those that were awake from the matrix) had descended into the earth and were living in Zion. And finally there is the sentiment; only those that were awake from the matrix could see what others didn’t. So, I had to make a card in greens, black and smokey grey with a touch of sparkle as homage, didn’t I?

This is how I made the card:

First the larger circles were coloured with some green Promarkers. Only 3 colours were used as shading and an uncoloured white spot was left on each circle as a highlight.

Then all the small circles, the eye and the figures at the bottom of the stamp were coloured

Next I added some cracked pistachio distress ink by softly blending from a piece of paper aligned to some of the lines radiating out from the eye, to try to imitate the laser type scanners that you often see in movies.

After that I added glossy accents to each individual tiny circle (but not to the larger ones) and left it to dry overnight.

On the next day I wanted to add the sparkle and some darkness to the piece. So I used a charcoal pencil and drew some rough lines over the image and smudged them with my finger. I thought this sort of represented the movement of the lines code falling down the screen.

Then some glamour dust was added to give that representation of sparkle, and hickory smoke distress ink was blended over the two sides of the piece.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of card coloured with a matching promarker and three of the corners of the sentiment piece were rounded before it was backed with fun foam. I mounted the whole thing onto a card blank and added two slim pieces of black card on the two outside edges.

eye stamp - see what others don't

Stamps Used:

eye stamp | rubber | clear       creative quote stamps

Other Supplies:

Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Promarkers, (Pastel green, mint green and green. Plus a bit of tea green and holly in the eye), cracked pistachio and hickory smoke Distress Ink, charcoal pencil, Glossy Accents, Glamour Dust, White and Black card, fun foam.

That’s it from me for now. Thanks for stopping by and I really hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Creative Chaos | Inky Flower Stamps | Visible Image

Hello! We hope you are having a good weekend. Lisa Taggart is here on the blog this evening with a stunning card featuring the inky flower stamps from our ‘Creative Chaos’ stamp set…

I have the pleasure today to share more new release stamps from Visible Image. This time it’s the mixed media collection and oh my goodness what exciting new designs we have! You are going to love them.

I’ve kept my first sample simple. The stamps speak for themselves!

Here are the steps..

To begin, as ever… inky scraps! These were created using spectrum noir aquatint ink placed onto acetate and pressed against card then lifted. It’s a cool technique and gives interesting colour combinations and patterns.

I enhanced the colours with ink pads and then began to build the layers.

I hope you like it!

Till next time…

Art Rebel | Gelli Print | Masculine Stamps

Hi there! We hope you are having a great weekend. It’s been a busy one here, as we prepare for next week’s shows on Create and Craft TV. Jane Tyrrell is here on the blog today with an awesome gelli print panel featuring our new Art Rebel stamps, they are just so cool and really fill a gap for those masculine cards and projects…

I have been busy designing with the fab new mixed media sets, and this week I’ve created something really different for me!

I used the brilliant Art Rebel set, and wow it is just awesome!!

masculine stamps - art rebel

and words for the The World Needs Art set

creative quote stamps

Just its name inspired me to get out my acrylic paints, and using that awesome big fish pull some Gelli plate prints. I decided to make an art panel.

I got out my large Gelli plate and I pulled lots…. look out for them in the coming months.

Here is the one I used for my project coming off the plate… it’s always exciting to see what has happened.

I added some more stamping using the other stamps from the set.

gelli print

I then trimmed it down.

This is my final background showing a few close ups..

The colours made me think of Andy Warhol, so I decided to something whacky with the Art Rebel!

When I stamped out his hair and gave it tints of red, yellow and blue (why not 😃)

I also stamped and fussy cut out some of the small fish, as I had whacky plans for those too.

I then had such fun putting together my art panel. Here it is..

mixed media art panel

I’ll talk you through with some close ups, as there are lots of little details which get missed in the single photo.I cut out one lens from each pair of goggles. For the red rebel I put the fish through, and then filled the hole with Glossy Accents to remake the “lens”..

The yellow haired rebel has one of the fish on the Gelli print inside..

and the blue one has the fish eye stamp and a fish in his mouth..

One final shot…

You can have such fun with this set and, as I said I have lots of fun prints to play with too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Bye for now,

Jane x

What a brilliant work of art Jane! Fantastic use of all the extra stamps in the set.. it’s definitely whacky! Those colours are so awesome for the Art Rebel, we are loving the Warhol feel! Thank you ♡

Altered Bottle | Visible Image Stamps

Hello! We have Veerle here on the blog today with a super gorgeous project. Veerle has altered a bottle using one of our stencils and lots of texture paste and paint, and features our new inky flower stamp with some inspiring words..

mixed media stamps

This beautiful flower… it was just calling me to color it in and have a play with it. And I just knew what I wanted to do with it. Well I have to admit I have a LOT of ideas for it ^.^ but today I wanted to add it to a little mixed media project.

So I went and had some fun on a bottle with pastes, glaze and a lot of layers of paint.

I wanted to add something at the back too. So I took out all the new stamp sets and had my brain just go and look for what I wanted to put together. And then I got to this..

altered bottle - mixed media - stamps

inky flower stamp - altered art

That word strength is so beautiful.  Such a small word yet so strong… you’ll see that one come back ^.^ Who am I kidding… they will all be used on many projects as they are just gorgeous ^.^

Kindness | Flower Stamps | Visible Image

Hi there! We have Pauline here on the blog today with a really striking card created with some of our new quirky flower stamps…

Hello,

I’m back with a card I’ve created using one of the fantastic new stamp sets from Visible Image: Random Art of Kindness, with their super Stars and Stripes stencil.

quirky flower stamps

On a piece of watercolour card, I placed the stencil, and blended through it with Salty Ocean Distress ink on the stars side, and Picked Raspberry on the striped side, then with a water spritzer, I soaked the card, and held it to drip, stars up, so’s that the ink ran and spread, I left it to dry naturally.

Then on a piece of smooth white card, I stamped six of the daisy flowers using a Versafine Onyx Black ink pad, I coloured them in with Clean color brush pens, and fussy cut three large flowers, and just the centres of the other three.

Going back to the dry background, I blended lightly with Salty Ocean Distress Ink, on any of the white area’s, I stamped three flowers with black ink, then using the funky stem with Salty Ocean Oxide Ink, I stamped the stems. I added the flowers using 3D glue gel, stamped the words onto a piece of blue card, and added them to the background. I used a 5B pencil to put shadows on the stars, and also highlights with a white pen, also around the words, and black Stickles in the middle of the flowers.

Crazy Fish | Visible Image | Stamps

Hello! Wow another crazy week here at Visible Image HQ, where has the time gone?! We have lots of amazing inspiration coming your way here on the blog today featuring our new stamps. Pauline Butcher has taken elements from our ‘Art Rebel’ set to create a really funky card…

Hi there,

It’s Fabulous Friday, and I’m here to share something I’ve created using one of the awesome new Stamp sets from Visible Image. Have you seen them ??

fish skeleton stamp

The stamp set I’ve used is Art Rebel

stamps - men - masculine

My background was achieved using 3 colours of Brusho: 2 blues and Lemon, spritzed with water, and left to dry.
I stamped all the fish using red Versafine Clair ink, then used a sparkle water brush, to give them a life like appearance.

On a piece of card I cut off the background, I blended a little red ink at the top, to tie all the colours together. I stamped the main fish with versamark, and used black embossing powder to make it glossy, I also added the bubbles and the sentiment in the same way. I coloured the fish in with a yellow water colour, then used a white pigment pen to highlight it.

Hugs,
Pauline xxxxx

We are loving this card.. the fish look fantastic and your background is stunning, thank you Pauline ♡

Rebel | Masculine Stamps

Hello! Sharon Traynor is back with her second card to inspire you today. This time it’s a masculine card featuring our awesome new ‘Art Rebel’ stamps…

I have created a one layer masculine card for a man that’s a bit of a rebel. Ha! Who doesn’t love a rebel, eh?

stamps for men - card - rebel

This card has been made using another of the new stamp sets from the Visible Image February release, and this set of stamps is perfect for fun and funky masculine cards. There are loads of smaller stamps in the set, including some brilliant fish, but I decided to do some pencil colouring on kraft card using these wonderful face stamps. The face design is so unique, isn’t it?

One good thing about making CAS cards is that they are simple to re-create. Just as well really because I had to recreate this one as I’d made the first one (above) without photographing the step-by-step.

So come along with me while I do it all again…

First, stamp the image onto a kraft card blank in versamark black ink.

I used polychromos pencils because they show up beautifully on kraft card. Colour the hair in a lightish brown and the face in the flesh colours. (the sun was out when I took this picture)

Then using a white and grey, colour the goggles and the teeth (then the clouds came out so these photos are duller)

Add some more white and a little blue onto the goggles. Then add some white shading on the top and left sides of each rectangle

Add a little grey shading on the bottom and right side of each rectangle. This gives the illusion that the rectangles have been 3D’d.

Next stamp the images into the goggles. Stamp the right eye in black ink, and the left eye in versamark clear. Add white embossing powder to the left eye, then brush the excess powder away from the outside to reveal the edges of the goggle, and heat emboss the central part of that eye. When cooled add some blue pencil to create a wacky eyeball.

Here’s where I diverted from my original card. I added glossy accents to the goggles. In hindsight I really wish I hadn’t, as I much prefer the original card I made.

One thing I forgot to do though was add that white pencil shading around the edges of the head. This makes the head pop off the page. You can see here how the glossy accents really affected the right eye so that you can’t see the white pencil I added to it. Anyway, lesson learnt.

Finally heat emboss the ‘rebel’ sentiment in white embossing powder.

And here’s the end result

Stamps Used:

art rebel - stamps for men

Other Supplies:

Versafine onyx black ink, Versamark clear ink, Wow opaque bright white embossing powder, Glossy Accents, Polychromos pencils, kraft card.

That’s it from me for now.

Thanks for stopping by today, I’ll be back soon!

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Our art rebel looks awesome on Kraft card Sharon, love the chalky look the white pencil creates, and you’ve coloured him brilliantly. Thank you ♡

Kindness | Flower | Card

Hello! Do you love clean and simple cards? We adore them, and our new stamps really lend themselves to this style of card as well as for more inky mixed media styles. Sharon Traynor has created such an elegant and striking card with our NEW ‘Random Art of Kindness’ stamp set, which includes some really funky hand drawn flowers…

Oh boy!

I am absolutely LOVING this latest release from Visible Image.

flower stamp | kindness | card

I know the images in some of the stamp sets were made with art journalling in mind, and that they suit mixed media really well…. but they are also PERFECT for the CAS genre. So I guess that’s why I’m a happy bunny. I made 12 cards with the new sets in 2 afternoons at the weekend, including a bit of glossy accents and other stuff. The most cards I’ve managed in one afternoon before now is 3  –  so I doubled my productivity with these new sets. It’s easy when you love the stamps you are using!

Want a peek at the samples that I sent to Helen and Mark at Visible Image last week?

Ha ha! I can’t give too much away because I’m sure there will be a Facebook Live event sometime soon where some of these will be shown….. and of course there are one or two that I would love to blog about! Anyway, in that stack somewhere is today’s card.

As soon as I saw this Random Art Of Kindness stamp set I knew it was going to be a firm favourite, and the first thing that I wanted to do with it was something that you wouldn’t necessarily associate with the beautiful grungy and mixed media pieces that everyone makes with Visible Image stamps. For me, this particular stamp was just crying out to be zentangled – so I did.

I am no expert in zentangling, in fact I’m not sure that I have ever made a card with zentangling on it, but this is a passable try. Anyhow, in an effort not to completely overload this post with photos.

I have set up two different pages for the full step by step of how I did these Zentangled petals
which you can see by clicking HERE for part 1 and HERE for part 2.

This next bit however, is the step by step tutorial for everything else with just the final photo of each petal.

To make this card:

Stamp the flower twice, and then colour in the flower ‘centre’ on one image with the black micron pen (this will be the one we zentangle on). Colour the other flower centre with a versamark clear pen and heat emboss with black embossing powder, then fussy cut that embossed centre piece out (that one will be raised up on foam on the final flower).

These are small pictures of each petal as I completed it.

Petal 1 and 2

Petal 3 and 4

Petal 5 and 6

Petal 7 and 8

Petal 9

Once the flower has been completely zentangled, fussy cut it out and set it to one side with the heat embossed flower centre.

Take a piece of 13cm x 13cm white card and make the border like this

When you have completed the border, stamp the stem into place. You can use the flower stamp to help get the placement correct.

Mount the panel onto some white and black paper and attach it all to a 15cm x 15cm card blank.

Layer the flower up using 3d foam pads, add a pearl to the centre and attach it to the card.

Finally heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder on black card, cut it into a banner and attach that to the front of the card on 3d foam too.

So I had to actually recreate this card because I was so ‘in the zone’ when I created the original one that I forgot to take the step by step photos. Here are both cards. The original card is on the left and the reproduced one is on the right. The only real difference that I can see is in the size of the zentangled border, so I’d say that you could quite easily batch produce some of these cards.

Stamps Used:

flower stamps - hand drawn - hope - kindness

Other Supplies:

Versafine Obyx Black ink, Versamark clear ink and pen, Heat it Up! Black embossing powder, WOW! Opaque Bright White Superfine embossing powder, Pigmaa Micron Fineliner pens (sizes 005, 0.5 and 0.8),3d foam, pear centre, black and white card and paper.

I hope you enjoyed this trip down zentangle lane! I will be back a little later with a masculine card!

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Butterfly Stamps | Metamorphosis | Wings of Change

Hi there! We have so much inspiration to share with you here on the blog featuring our gorgeous new stamps. Jane is back with her second card today, this time featuring our new butterfly stamps. The sentiments: ‘metamorphosis’ and ‘transform’ add such meaning to these stamps…

When I saw the new ‘Wings of Change’ stamp set, I knew that a winter butterfly card would be just right for me to showcase them on.

butterfly stamps - script - metamorphosis

I smooshed Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon, and Pumice Stone distress oxides onto watercolour card to made a wintry water colour background..

First I stamped the butterflies directly on the card, shown above. Next I stamped some on white card and fussy cut them. I then layered them up. You will see that I also added some stitching to the edge of my card and glossy accents to the circles in the metamorphosis sentiment. I also die cut some silver cards using a mixed media die.

Here is my winter butterflies card… they almost look as though their wings are made of ice

butterfly stamps - card - script - change - metamorphosis

In these photos you should be able to see the icy glittery wings I gave them using a spectrum noir clear glitter pen. To add depth, I placed some foam fixers under some of the wings too..

The next project I am sharing is something very different, featuring another set from the new mixed media stamp release…. stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by, and for your very kind and supportive comments you take the time to leave me.

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Oh wow what an absolutely beautiful card Jane! Those colours are so gorgeous together, and the stitching and die cuts add the perfect amount of texture. Our butterfly stamps look fantastic, especially with the wings raised off the card. Thank you ♡

Creative Chaos | Inky Flower Stamp | Visible Image

Hello! Thank you for visiting our blog today. Sorry it’s been a little neglected lately, there just haven’t been enough hours in the day, for a good reason though.. we are really feeling the love for our new stamps, and we are blown away by all the orders! We’ve just about caught up with ourselves, so now it’s time to share lots of gorgeous inspiration with you. Our Design Team are absolutely loving creating with our new designs! Jane Tyrrell is here on the blog today with the first of two absolutely stunning cards, featuring the beautiful inky flower stamp from our NEW ‘Creative Chaos’ set…

Good Afternoon

It is time for me to share my first Design Team card for Visible Image using their brand new awesome mixed media stamps. Every single one of the 6 sets in the release have so much to offer our creativity!

This is the set I have worked with for my first card today.. it is just brilliant.

Inky flower stamp

The sunshine here made me reach for my sunny palette.

The sun was streaming in on the day I made it I was so inspired to use happy yellow and orange  distress inks, despite the frost on the ground.

I also got out my much used Tale of 2 cities book, and used some pages to stamp the larger inky flower stamp on to.

I fussy cut out one of the images. I also stamped the image onto the card front and added some edging using the fab DNA stamp.

This is my finished card…

out of chaos comes creativity - stamp

with a close up of the gorgeous inky flower stamp..

These are the distress inks I worked with…

When I design my cards I often work on a sample first which I use to test out placement etc… most are kept for a reference and not mounted up. However when I was making my flower card I actually rather liked the sample version too so I thought that I would also share it to show how well these stamps work in any colour way..

inky flower stamp

I have also been working with the new butterfly set, so will be back to share my card a little later.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bye for now,
Jane x
