Alien Invader | Stamps + Dies

Hi! Jane is here on the blog today with more new dies inspiration! Jane made an awesome easel card with our Alien Invader stamps and dies, and you just have to see the surprise element…

Good afternoon!

If you have been following the news on social media you will know that there are now co-ordinating dies for the 3 fab space character sets, as well as 3 of their most popular Christmas sets (squeal.. yes that includes the Christmas Robins set).

Today I’m delighted to share my first make using one of the space character sets. If you’re not familiar with the brilliant VI space characters they are; Captain Awesome, Robot Data and Alien invader. Today I am sharing my sample made using the Alien Invader stamp set with its new co ordinating die set.

There is currently a fab offer of 20% off the dies, and this also applies if you buy them as a bundle if you don’t already own the stamps. Just use the code DIES20 at the checkout.

I used them with the fab stencil Meshing Around  and turned it into a planet, as you do!

Tutorial

I made a circle easel card using red card. Mine was made using a 5 1/2″ diameter circle die. (There are many videos and simple tutorials on line which show how these are made so I am not sharing that part of the process).

I sprayed aged mahogany and salty ocean distress stain sprays onto a piece of inky mop up mixed media card from my stash. When dry I added some Snowflurries distress mica stain for some sparkle. I then spread the new distress glow grit paste through the Meshing around stencil.

and left it to dry.

I sneaked out to my studio that evening I took this photo of it glowing in the dark!

I stamped the alien stamps in the set and coloured them with distress pencils.

I die cut the Mesh background using a circle die to create my “planet” and adhered the stamped elements. I also added some gold foundry wax to the edge of my “planet”

I sprayed a little more mica stain onto the base of the easel

folded down the top and then stuck the “planet in place.

I raised the sentiment onto foam tape so that the front of the easel could stand behind it.

Here it is finished!

and of course I had to end with some glow in the dark shots.

Such fun!

I have already shared my tags made with the fun Robot Data set over in the Facebook group and you can see them in the project gallery here on the website.

It would be lovely to see you over in the Visible Image Facebook group. You will be warmly welcomed and see lots of inspiration from the DT and customers to inspire your own creativity.  I also run a monthly ATC swap in the group!

You will also find me on instagram: @jane.tyrrell where I share many more samples than I have the time to blog.

Bye for now,

Jane x

Awesome Alien card! It really is ‘out of this world’ with that fantastic glow in the dark paste! The alien and all the elements look superb die cut, it adds such fantastic dimension. Thanks for another great tutorial Jane ♡
