Under The Sea | Journal Pages
Hi there! Ericka is here on the blog today with fabulous art journal pages featuring some of our gorgeous under the sea themed stamps, including our seahorse and mermaid, with our Torn Fishnet layering die, Bubbles and Fizz stencil and more!

I hope you are all doing well. It is getting close to summer here and the kids are almost out of school which has me dreaming of the beach and all things summery. To help me get through these next couple of weeks, I decided to make a mixed media journal layout.

I started by repurposing a thicker paged magazine and used white gesso to cover the pages. I initially started on the seahorse page and then decided to make it a whole fun under the sea spread using Mythical Mermaid. Once my gesso was dry, I took my gel plate and inked it up with Distress Ink in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, and Broken China. I used this for both of the pages base colors along with the colors for my seahorses and mermaid.

I then used the Bubbles & Fizz Stencil with texture paste to give my page some dimension as well as look like air bubbles under the sea. Once my texture paste was dry, I used Lindy’s Magicals in Sassy Sapphire and Bling-y-Blonde and painted another layer of color onto my page. I also used some acryic paint and did a little finger painting to get a watery look.

Next I used the Scripted Streets stencil with WOW! Embossing Powder in Early Gray to give both a sparkle and lighten up my background.

I stamped my images from the following Visible Image sets: Create Your Calm, Mythical Mermaid, VI Minis #1, and At The Beach. I used Vesafine Clair ink and heat embossed them with a clear sparkle so all my elements had an underwater shine. For my sea shells, I used some left over deli paper covered with paint and stamped and cut them out.

I took some leftover brown packaging material sprayed with Dina Media spray and used the Torn Fishnet die to add to my background. After cutting everything out, I started adhering the elements with some Mixed Media Collage.

I stamped the sentiment from the So Much Stronger set and white heat embossed it to help it stand out against my darker background.

I added some lines along with edge in purple and blues with Stabilo pencils and lightly smudged them around the sentiments.

This journal layout was so fun to make and I love how easily all of the elements worked together. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.
