Tree of Life | Handmade Cards
Hello and Happy Saturday to you! Ali is here on the blog today with 2 gorgeous cards made with our TREE OF LIFE stamp with sentiments from our GO TO WORDS set…
This year is passing so fast, nearly half way through 2021! This week I’m covering a clean and simple, one layer card using the fabulous ‘Tree of Life’ stamp set from Visible Image.
Cut a piece of watercolour card 10″ by 5″, score and fold to make a 5″x5″ white card blank.
Use masking tape to cover the front of the card leaving app 3″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle.
Press the tape down around the centre to make it water resistant.
Wet your the open part of your card using water and a large brush.
Start applying your watercolours, avoid mixing any colours that would make brown or green.
Start with the yellows, oranges, golds, allow to dry, then pink and purple and finally a bit of blue.
Carefully remove the masking tape, gently peel it back on itself to avoid tearing the card.
Dry the card thoroughly using a heat gun.
Remove any tape glue from your card with an adhesive eraser, then pat an anti static pad over your card.
Stamp the tree with black versafine ink over the bottom corner of your panel. If you are using a stamping platform, restamp to get a solid black impression.
Heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
Return your card to the stamping platform and restamp your tree then clear heat emboss again, this will make your tree very raised and glossy.
Colour in the leaves on the tree with a gold glitter gel pen.
Pick a sentiment from the Visible Image ‘Go to Words’ set, stamp in black versafine at the bottom right hand side of your card and clear heat emboss as before.
Allow the card to cool for a few moments then wipe off any residual anti static powder with a soft cloth/paper towel.
Finally add a couple of black adhesive gems to the top right hand side.
I repeated this process with White Night watercolours, mounted it onto black card with a 1/8″ border then attached it to a white 6″x6″ card blank for a different look.
