Music Speaks | Guitar Stamp

Hello! We hope you are doing ok. We have a double helping of inspiration here on the blog for you today, first up is Ali with an awesome music themed card featuring our MUSIC SPEAKS guitar stamp and a sentiment that really resonates with us during difficult times…

Today I’m sharing a card which I think would be suitable for any teenager that is having a tough time during this lock down. Our lives have many, many songs which remind us of occasions happy and sad, and I often put ACDC on to lift my mood.

The colours are reminiscent of a Gibson SG Sunburst according to my hubby, the fiery colours just make me happy.

Cut a piece of white 300gsm card about 5 3/4″ square and pick a red, orange and a yellow distress oxide.

I’ve used: Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin and Crackling Campfire.

Use a blending tool and foam pads to apply some colour over the card.

Spritz water over your card and remove with a paper towel

Position the Short Circuit stencil over the deeper colour sections of the card and apply red oxide ink using the foam applicator.

Position the Scribble stencil over the yellow sections of the card and apply orange oxide ink.

Stamp the guitar on the right hand side of the card with black versafine ink, and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Tape the Play Guitar stencil over your card and stencil a little black gesso over the first column of figures.

Use a tiny amount of gesso on your brush and build up until you get a nice solid matt black finish.

Cut your card into 2 pieces and trim the sections so they are about 1 5/8″ and 3 1/2″ wide.

Take a bit of scrappy sponge and apply a little black gesso around the edges of both pieces.

Stamp the little star icon from the Believe in Unicorns stamp set over both pieces in gold pigment ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Stamp the dotty icon stamp across both pieces with black soot distress oxide and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Splatter a little white  over the cards by tapping a white paint pen.

Outline the guitar and the figures using a gold sparkle pen.

Mount the cards onto gold card with a 1/16″ border and then onto black card with an 1/8″ border.

Attach these to a black 7″ x 7″ card blank using double sided foam pads.

Add 3 black gems to the top right hand side.

Awesome card Ali! Loving the vibrant colours against the black panels. Your stencilled background is gorgeous and the touches of gold really bring the stamps to life.
