Hello! Today’s the day we are back on Create and Craft TV for a double length mixed media show with Mark! (More details below!). Today’s inspiration is one of the gorgeous show samples created by Ali Carubia, featuring our fabulous BREAK FREE stamp set with our TIME TUNNEL stencil…
I’m sharing a card made for today’s TV show! It’s perfect for Autumn, with bonfire coloured daisies and a Catherine wheel inspired background – things I remember from years gone by.
Spray the back of the Time Tunnel stencil with stencil spray and leave to dry for a few minutes.
Cut a piece of white card to just over 6″ x 6″ and stick the stencil on firmly.
Pour a little black gesso onto a saucer or an old foil tray – away from your craft mat (as it gets everywhere!).
Load up your stencil brush with a little black gesso and apply to card in a upright pouncing motion, so the paint doesn’t slip under the stencil. Go over any white bits you have missed.
Peel the stencil away from the card, the centre bits are quite delicate so you may need to rotate your card and peel away in sections.
Put your stencil in some water!
Create a colourful background using the the yellow, orange and red distress oxide inks.
Squish some ink onto your craft mat and spritz with water, pick it up on some white card and dry with a heat gun.
Take the Visible Image Break Free stamp set and stamp the flower head onto your coloured card with black versafine ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
You will need 4 flower heads for this card.
Stamp and clear heat emboss 2 vases and 4 flower stems onto scraps of white card.
Cut these all out – I left a border around the flower heads and vases but cut the stems very close to the embossed lines.
Snip between the petals so you can manipulate them later.
Colour the 4 flower stems with green and a little orange oxide ink.
Snip out the inside of one of the vases leaving the water line in place.
Colour both of the vases with a little pale blue ink for the water and light grey alcohol pen on the glass.
Glue the complete vase to the bottom right hand side then glue the stems. Don’t worry too much about what the top of the vase looks like as that will be covered by a flower head.Fix the second snipped vase over the first with pva glue, so that the stems are trapped underneath the water line.
Add a shadow to the bottom of the vase using your grey alcohol pen, to ground it to the card.
Use a white gel pen to add some highlights on the petals.
Shape the flowers using a ball tool and the palm of your hand/foam mat to give them a bit of dimension, curl a few of the petals forwards, away from the rest before attaching the four flower heads to your card using 3d glue gel.
Apply some Star Dust stickles to the centre of the flowers.
Stamp the ‘Life is a Journey’ sentiment from the Just be Happy set with black versafine ink onto white card, and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
Matt this onto black card with about 1/8″ border
Here is my completed card 😎
I am really happy with this one!
