We’re All Mad Here!

Hi! We have Sharon Traynor here on the blog today with another fabulous card featuring our Cheshire Cat stamp set which includes the brilliant quote ‘We’re All Mad Here!’…

Hello there.

Today I’m sharing one of the cards that I made with the fantastic Cheshire Cat stamp and the Time Tunnel stencil from Visible Image.

It has been ages since I picked up my alcohol pens, in fact it is so long that I had forgotten how much I love to colour with promarkers. I was absolutely delighted when Visible Image released their wonderland stamps, because that gives us all the chance to break out our different colouring mediums.  The whole Wonderland collection is really awesome and they are a joy to colour!

How I made this card:

The cat was coloured with promarkers and then fussy cut. The sentiment was stamped and trimmed into a rectangle shape.

To make the background:

First, mark the top of one side of the time tunnel stencil with a piece of washi or masking tape; this will help to line up the masks you need to make when you ink.

Take a piece of scrap paper, mark the top of the scrap paper to correspond with the mark on the stencil and number it (No 1), then draw round one of the openings in the stencil. Take another piece of scrap paper, mark the top again, number it (No 2) and draw round one opening in the stencil, adjacent to the first one you drew around. Continue like this until you have been all the way around the stencil (you should have 8 pieces of scrap paper).

To cut out your scrap paper masks, you need to cut about 1 to 2mm outside the lines you have drawn i.e. make the holes slightly larger than you have drawn them. Be careful in the centre where the lines are closer together – but if you do cut too wide there, it doesn’t really matter because the cat image will hide that part.

Use masking tape to attach the stencil to the card that you are going to ink. Attach your first mask, making sure where you marked the top corresponds to the marked top on the stencil, then ink through the opening.  Remove the first mask and attach the second mask, then ink through that with the next colour. Continue this until the whole stencil has been inked through and you have a rainbow of swirls.

Remove the stencil and trim the panel. Back it onto some black card and then add it to a card blank. Use Nuvo Drops to add swirls of dots alongside each inked swirl and set aside to dry.

Once dry, attach the sentiment and the cat.
