Hi there! Happy Friday! We’re back with more Alice In Wonderland inspiration today! Heather Mitchell has combined our ‘Caterpillar’ stamp set with some of our background stamps to create an awesome card…
Well hello again!
I have to admit to not overly knowing the story of Alice in Wonderland but these fabulous Visible Image stamps have poked my curiosity to read the book (possibly watch it! Haha!) and understand the characters more.
Today it’s the turn of The Caterpillar… the very chilled caterpillar that offers Alice advice on how to best control her size issue!
To begin, I stamped the toadstool and Caterpillar images onto watercolour paper and painted using watercolours. Once dry, I’ve given the toadstool and the Caterpillar’s body a hint of shimmer although it doesn’t really show in the photographs (sad face!)
Once fussy cut, I’ve secured the images together and added foam dots to make them stand out on the background and put them to one side while I made the background.
I’ve used a printed text paper background and wiped Gesso over it using a baby wipe to tone down the lettering. Once dry, I’ve then gone to town adding various background stamps from Visible Image using different shades of neutral colour ink pads.
For extra interest and to compliment the blue of the Caterpillar, I’ve stamped the arrows (in Blueprint Sketch Oxide ink pad) from the Destination Unknown set.
The sentiment is then stamped onto the off-cut paper and matted onto dark blue card, as is the background paper. This is then mounted onto a kraft card blank and the imagery secured in place. To finish, I added a scattering of adhesive gems for a little bit more sparkle!
So… here’s what stamps I’ve used for this make:
