Over to Teresa…

Hello again and welcome to my thrilling Thursday inspiration post. This week I have been playing with the fabulous Wonderland characters and decided to put them where they belong….in the pages of a book!

Visible Image stamps - Alice In Wonderland Book Project - Teresa Morgan

I got a big chunky book from the charity shop for this project as I needed some depth (in this case it was an epic Wilbur Smith novel)!!

Visible Image Stamps - Wonderland Characters Altered Book

I opened the book about a centimetre in from the front and started ‘carving’ chunks out of the pages with a craft knife. This is quite easy as long as you have a good sharp blade! I wanted to create a layered effect, so every so often I changed the outline of the aperture I was cutting. Once I was happy, I used some Mod Podge to glue the edges of the pages together to create a solid block. I find the easiest way to do this is to put a piece of cling film or acetate between the ‘front’ section and the carved ‘back’ section. Then use a glue spreader to apply the Mod Podge to the edges of the pages in the back section, pressing it in so that it seals them together. Weight the book down and leave overnight, then repeat if any sections are not stuck properly.

I coloured all the characters with the Warm Grey Promarkers then cut out. Once happy with my arrangement of them, I glued in place, tucked in the pages. I finished with some playing cards that I made with the Harley Jester set and the little signs using words from the character sets.I added some Pumice stone Distress Ink to the pages to add some definition to the layers.

Stamps Used:

Alice In Wonderland

White Rabbit

Mad Hatter

Tweedle Dum/Tweedle Dee
