Wise Owl

Nicola’s incredible card was created with our NIGHT OWL stamp set and SUPERNOVA stencil. [Tutorial] I started by blending elements inks in a circular motion straight onto a piece of smooth white card. I then spattered with water and dabbed with kitchen towel to give a bleached, distress effect. Once dry I applied black texture paste through the SUPERNOVA stencil, removed the stencil and sprinkled with black glitter, I tapped off the excess and put to one side to dry. I then stamped in black the main owl image, tree branch and sentiment from the NIGHT OWL stamp set onto white card and clear heat embossed. I also stamped the sentiment onto black card with versamark and white embossed as I hadn’t decided which to use. These were fussy cut and the owl coloured using elements inks and shades of gold kuretake gansai tambi watercolours which give a wonderful metallic sheen. After colouring the branches slightly I decided I wasn’t going to use them on this project. Next I stamped parts of the tree branch around the edges of the card and further darkened the edges to draw your eye to the centre of the card where the main image would be placed. I also enhanced the tree branches with white gelli roll pen and spattered with the same gold kuretake paint used to colour the owl. The card was then mat and layered using Kraft card onto a 7×7 inch white card blank and assembled using foam pads to raise the image. After a little deliberation I decided on the black card sentiment as in my opinion the white took your eye away from the main owl image. I’m really happy with the end result of this card and it will be perfect for my nephew’s upcoming birthday. Nicola ♡
