Happy Hummingbird

Nicola’s amazing mixed media card was created with the hummingbird stamp from our LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL set, FLOWER INK stencil and a sentiment from our BIRTHDAY WISHES set. [Tutorial] The ‘Flower Ink’ stencil was placed over a well dried distress oxide background in shades of grey and speckled egg, then more oxide in one of the grey shades was lightly blended through the stencil. The flower shape was then enhanced using chalk pastel pencils, white gel pen and the outline of the flower heat embossed in white. Script from the ‘Sketched Tulips’ set was stamped around the stencilled area along with a small daisy stamp [from the Daisy Grunge set] which was clear heat embossed. The stencil was then replaced with the mask, translucent grit texture paste was spread over the stencil and then the stencil carefully removed. Once completely dry the areas of grit paste were then enhanced again using chalk pastel pencils and white gel pen. A few white posca splats were added. The hummingbird from the ‘Life is Beautiful’ set was stamped in black ink and clear embossed on white card, cut out and coloured with Zig clean colour pens and clear glitter pen. It was then stuck onto Lotka paper, drawn around with a wet water brush and then gently “torn” around to give a feather like appearance. A small wooden heart was coated in gesso and one of the tiny daisy stamps was stamped over it, it was then coloured in using gel pens and posca pens.
