Sea Goddess Wall Hanging

Hello! Happy Saturday! We have a stunning project to share with you here on the blog today! Jane Tyrrell is here with  a gorgeous wall hanging which features lots of our beautiful stamps…

Phew it has been so hot that most of our minds have turned to thoughts of the seaside. I decided that my garden studio needed a fantasy seaside goddess wall hanging. Now I know that you will say that there is no sea goddess Visible image stamp… yes I know that too.. but there’s nothing stopping me improvising one. After all I made a mermaid from the leaping Katie stamp!

I used the lady’s head from the No Space For Dreams set

and the seaweed from Dare to Swim

I over stamped and embossed them onto some watercolour paper using Seth Apter baked embossing  powders to create my sea goddess. I love the colour mixes in these powders.

I  coloured the paper with blue distress inks and added some white stencilling using the Time Tunnel

Time Tunnel stencil - Visible Image

I also white embossed the sentiment from Own Kind of Beautiful

I wanted my wall hanging to also have a little seahorse…again I hear you say that there is only the one beautiful large seahorse stamp in the ‘Create your Calm’ set…

Correct again, but shrink plastic came to the rescue. You can see the cute size after I had stamped, heated and shrunk the plastic when held next to the original stamp. I also shrunk the large jelly fish from the Dare to swim set

Here is my finished wall hanging..

I made a mixed media frame for it from corrugated card… one of my favourite (and free) substrates. I used gesso, embossing powders, shells, metal charms, pearls and glossy accents.

Here it is hanging in my studio..

You can see I used real shells collected from our seaside holidays over the years. I added pearls and glossy accents to give the feel of the sea.

The little fish stamp is also in the Dare to swim set

and here is one more inside shot..

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind comments.

The heatwave appears to still be with us this weekend… this is the first real summer we have enjoyed for some years here in the UK. Keep cool and carry on crafting!

Back soon.

Bye for now,
Jane x

Under The Sea Stamps

Hello and Happy Friday to you! We have Elisa Ablett here on the blog today with an incredible scrapbook layout featuring some of our stunning under the sea stamps…

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Visible Image with a layered mixed media layout featuring an underwater sea theme, utilising the awesome ‘Create  your own Calm and Dare to Swim’ stamp sets as well as the ‘Fibres’ Stencil from Visible Image.

To create the background, I used a small petite gel plate along with Dina Wakely Scribble Sticks to create a watercolour ‘bubbly’ scene. Add some stencilling and stamping and you can build a scene to suit your photo!

TIP – to draw your eye to the photo, create a ‘flow’ across your page using your stamps and stencils and then use key pieces such as the black circle and large stamped images to draw the eye to the photo.

Here are some close ups of the finer details!

Just look at the quality in the stamps, a clean crisp image every single time 💓

Underwater Ripples

Good Evening! Hope you have had a good week, it has gone so fast here! Can’t quite believe it’s Friday tomorrow.. already!! Thank you so much to everyone who has pre-ordered our NEW stamps and stencils! We are quite overwhelmed by the number of orders we’ve received so far, with initial stock of some designs already sold out, more stock has been ordered! Wow!!! Our Design Team are loving the new stamps and stencils and we will have some fabulous inspiration for you really soon! Today’s inspiration features one of our older backgrounds: ‘The Ripple Effect stamp’ teamed up with our stunning seahorse. Over to Heather Mitchell…

Hello once again…

I’ve been itching to share this Visible Image DT project with you all, as I just love how it’s turned out!  It really got my creative juices flowing and I adore all the different textures on there from the stamps I’ve used.

seahorse stamp - ripple effect stamp

I started out by heat embossing The Ripple Effect in white embossing powder onto watercolour card before adding distress oxide inks in a watercolour style around the ripples themselves.

The oxides inks pads are great for creating watercolour backgrounds

To create a hint of sparkle to the project, Fibonacci was heat embossed using a gorgeous metallic copper powder, which looks beautiful when the light hits it.  Next, to contrast with the calming hues, I added Infusion powders to the areas in-between.

I used Anita’s 3D Clear Gloss to make the ripples as it has a fine nib so is perfect for smaller areas

To build on the texture, I stamped the net from the Mesh-ellaneous set in a deep blue and then added the shoal of fish  and the sea plants (both from Dare to Swim).

I’m a little bit in love with Wow’s Copper Embossing Powders as they add warmth to a project with a hint of sparkle

With everything dry I could begin to add my main focal images; the gorgeous Sea Horse and the sentiment from Create Your Calm.

Even with all the different textures, the make still felt like it needed some dimension to it so I added clear gloss to the ripple areas to make it look glassy and add some movement and I just love the finished effect! The ripple effect stamp works just beautifully with the Create Your Calm and Dare to Swim sets… def more to investigate there!!
